Edinburgh gang war continues in west as thugs torch taxi owned by dad of Mr Big's girlfriend
The father of the girlfriend of the Scottish gangster orchestrating the ongoing gangland feud across Edinburgh and the west has had is taxi firebombed.
George Newall's black cab was torched outside the family home on Wednesday, May 28, leaving it extensively damaged, reports The Daily Record.
His daughter, Olivia Newall, is the girlfriend of Ross 'Miami' McGill and has moved to Dubai where he now lives.

McGill is believed to be the central figure behind the gangland war which has torn through Scotland in recent months.
The incident occurred on Glasgow's Kingswood Drive in the city's Kings Park district.
One local said: 'We could not believe it. It is a very quiet area around here and then this happens.
'George is a lovely man. Hard-working. Honest and just trying to make a living.
'He does not need this hassle on his own doorstep.'

It is understood that nobody was injured in the incident, and police are continuing to investigate.
Ms Newall is the cousin of a man called Lloyd Cross who last year was jailed for his part in a £100million cocaine-smuggling plot.
It was masterminded by Jamie 'the Iceman' Stevenson, once dubbed 'Scotland's most wanted man.'
Cross was given a six-year sentence after pleading guilty to serious organised crime and drug offences.
The 32-year-old is a close friend of McGill's having grown up less than a mile away from each other.
Their friendship was also solidified through their involvement in the Rangers ultra group, the Union Bears.
The attack on Newall's cab took place as reports of a truce in Scotland's gang war emerged.
It was claimed that McGill had agreed to pull back on a series of bitter attacks launched against Edinburgh mob boss Mark Richardson and his close associate, Steven 'Bonzo' Daniel, from the notorious Glasgow Daniel crime clan.
McGill has been waging war on the pair since March after Richardson's cronies ripped him off in a £500k cocaine deal.
A number of properties, cars and business linked to Richardson and Daniel have been torched and shot at in recent months while pals of the hoods have been attacked with machetes.
Neither kingpin appears to have retaliated against McGill until news of Newall's taxi emerged, just days before two key Lyons lieutenants were brutally executed in Spain.
Eddie Lyons jnr and Ross Monaghan were gunned down at a bar in Fuengirola on Saturday night.
We previously reported that the Lyons, sworn enemies of the Daniel family, were understood to be feeding McGill information about the whereabouts of his key targets.

Rangers appoint former Southampton boss Martin as new head coach
Former Southampton boss Russell Martin is the new man in charge at Rangers (Glyn KIRK) Scottish Premiership club Rangers on Thursday confirmed the appointment of former Southampton boss Russell Martin as their new head coach on a three-year deal. The 39-year-old guided Southampton to promotion to the Premier League last year but was sacked in December following one win from their first 16 games. The club were subsequently relegated. Ex-Scotland defender Martin, who had a short loan spell as a player at Rangers in 2018, faces the daunting task of challenging Celtic, who have just won a 13th Scottish title in 14 seasons. "From my time here, I had a taste of how special this club is, the expectation, the passion and the history," he told the club's website. Advertisement "There's a lot to be done, but the goal is clear -- win matches, win trophies and give Rangers fans a team that they can be proud of." Martin's arrival is the latest in a series of major changes at the club. An American consortium led by Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises secured a majority shareholding on Friday, while new sporting director Kevin Thelwell officially began work on Monday. Rangers chief executive Patrick Stewart, who led the recruitment process alongside Thelwell, said: "Our criteria for our next coach were clear: we wanted a coach who will excel in terms of how we want to play, improve our culture, develop our squad, and ultimately win matches. Martin hired as Rangers manager and handed a big task: Regain the Scottish title from Celtic
Six months after being fired by Southampton, Russell Martin crossed the border to take over as manager of Scottish giant Rangers on Thursday and tasked with regaining the league title from fierce Glasgow rival Celtic. Martin guided Southampton to promotion to the Premier League last year but left in December following one win from the team's first 16 games. The 39-year-old Martin has secured a quick return to management at Rangers, going back to a club where he spent a half season on loan in 2018. 'From my time here, I had a taste of how special this club is, the expectation, the passion and the history,' Martin said. 'Now, as I return, I'm determined to bring success back, for the supporters, the players, and everyone inside this club. There's a lot to be done, but the goal is clear: win matches, win trophies and give Rangers fans a team that they can be proud of.' Rangers finished last season under the caretaker management of its former captain, Barry Ferguson, after firing Frenchman Philippe Clement in February. Appointing Martin — an Englishman who played international soccer for Scotland — is the latest big move by Rangers after a U.S.-based consortium, which includes an investment arm of the San Francisco 49ers, purchased a majority ownership stake in the club. Health insurance entrepreneur Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises led a consortium of investors to have bought a 51% stake. A new sporting director, Kevin Thelwell, officially began work at Rangers on Monday. Celtic's stranglehold on Scottish soccer has just continued with a 13th Premiership title in 14 seasons. Rangers won the only other title in that period, under Steven Gerrard in the 2020-21 season. Rangers and Celtic now have 55 Scottish league titles each. ___ AP soccer:
