iOS 26 release date
Apple's new iOS 26 update is expected to roll out this September to all compatible iPhone users. If we look at Apple's previous years' record, the new software update is released within a week of the new-gen iPhone launch event.
Last year, the iPhone 16 series was launched on September 9, and iOS 18 was released on September 16 (Monday). This applies the same for the 2023 iPhone launch; the iPhone 15 series was launched on September 12, and iOS 17 was rolled out on September 18 (Monday).

In 2025, the expected launch date for the iPhone 17 series is between September 8 to September 12. Considering the previous years schedule, we expect Apple to follow a similar timeline this year as well. Therefore, we can expect the iOS 26 release around September 15 to September 19.
Currently, we are awaiting iOS 26 public beta, which is expected to roll out before the end of July to compatible iPhone models.

iPhone 17 Pro leak hints at 8x zoom, pro camera app, and new camera control button ahead of September launch
Just when you thought there was nothing else left to unravel when it comes to the iPhone 17 series, a new leak claims that Apple's top-tier iPhone 17 Pro might come with some major camera upgrades. According to an anonymous tipster via MacRumors, the upcoming Pro models could feature an improved telephoto lens with up to 8x optical zoom, up from the 5x zoom found in the current-gen iPhone 16 Pro models. The leak suggests this lens may have the ability to physically move, enabling smoother zoom transitions across different focal lengths, much like what we see on professional cameras. On top of that, Apple is also said to be introducing a brand-new pro camera app and an extra physical camera button, both aimed at improving the photo and video experience for new camera app, according to the tipster, could be built from the ground up with more advanced tools and controls, possibly competing with third-party apps like Halide and Filmic Pro. It's not clear whether this app will be available to all iPhone models or just the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max, but the idea is to give users more flexibility in both photography and video shooting.
