Indianapolis Colts' OTAs: The big question at tight end
The Indianapolis Colts will begin Phase III of the offseason programs on May 28th, which means the start of voluntary Organized Team Activities (OTAs).
Rather than only doing individual drills as the Colts have been doing, they will now be permitted to do 7-on-7 or 11-on-11 team drills, although no live contact is allowed.

So with this important part of the offseason schedule about to begin, I wanted to highlight one big question facing each position group. Up next are the tight ends.

All eyes will be on Indianapolis Colts' rookie tight end Tyler Warren
Okay, so that's not much of a question. I suppose one could be, how big and quick of an impact can Warren make as a rookie?
The Colts haven't had a tight end eclipse 500 receiving yards in a season since 2018. In fact, when combined, the entire Colts' tight end room didn't even hit that mark last season.
Warren can certainly provide a big boost in the passing game. He's coming off a 2024 season where he had over 100 receptions and totaled more than 1,200 receiving yards. As GM Chris Ballard discussed after the draft, Warren can be particularly impactful over the middle of the field, where his combination of size and athleticism makes him a difficult matchup.

However, with that said, Warren's impact is going to go beyond just the passing game. He comes to the NFL as a capable run blocker, and his versatility allowed him to fill a variety of roles at Penn State, which included lining up in the backfield at times.
'This is a big man now," said area scout Chad Henry via the Indy Star. "We have a hard time, anymore, finding guys that size (at tight end), because you're looking at a bunch of 230-pound guys that are basically an extra receiver. This guy happens to be an extra receiver who can knock the crap out of people, both on the line of scrimmage and in space."
When an offense has a do-it-all presence at the tight end position, it adds some unpredictability to that unit because that player can shoulder a number of responsibilities, so defenses can't easily get a beat on what's coming based on who is on the field or where players are lined up.
This then not only creates opportunities for Warren to exploit, but for his teammates as well.

Like any incoming rookie, there will be a learning curve for Warren, but he's in a position to make some noise right away, and that impact can go beyond just his column on the stat sheet.

Jai Brown, Pike: The sophomore won the 100 hurdles (14.02 seconds) at Ben Davis and helped her team to a second-place finish in the 4x100 relay (48.43). Kya Crooke, Heritage Christian: The senior Arizona recruit won the 100 (11.99), high jump (6-0) and long jump (19-3) at the North Central regional. Sadie Foley, Carmel: The senior helped the Greyhounds 4x800 relay team to a regional meet record (9:10.68) at Lafayette Jeff. Top-ranked Carmel won the meet as Foley also set the regional record by winning the 1,600 meters (4:52.15) and was part of the 4x400 relay team that won the regional. Nadia Ford, Fort Wayne Carroll: The sophomore ran the fastest 200 meters in the state this year (24.02 seconds) to win the regional. Ford also won the 100 (11.90) and was part of Carroll's 4x100 relay winner (47.18). Nife Ogunleye, Brownsburg: The freshman helped Brownsburg to its first regional title with a victory in the 100 meters (11.86 seconds) and 200 meters (24.18). Both are top-five times in the state this season. Banner Barnes, Noblesville: The sophomore won the 800 meters (1:54.92) and 1,600 meters (4:17.19) to help the Millers to a regional championship at Lafayette Jeff. Phoenix Boyer, Bishop Chatard: The junior anchored the 4x400-meter relay team to a victory over North Central with a time of 3:14.09 (second-best in state history) to win the regional at Lawrence Central. Boyer took second in the 300 hurdles (37.06 second) just behind North Central's Denhm Holt (37.04). Boyer's time is the ninth-best in state history. Nick Dearman, Heritage Christian: The senior won the regional at Lawrence Central with a long jump of 23 feet, 5 ½ inches. That jump is the third-best in the state this spring. Rylan Hainje, Franklin Central: The junior helped the Flashes to the regional championship at Lawrence Central, winning the 110 hurdles (13.57 seconds) and 300 hurdles (37.04). His 110 hurdles time is the best in the state this spring and third all-time, and his 300 time the second best this spring and seventh best all time. Coleson Kugler, Wabash: The junior won the 200 meters at the Carroll regional by matching his school record (22.87 seconds). He also broke the school record in the 100 meters (10.80) and finished second. Kaleb Rasheed, Avon: The senior won the discus (188-3) to the help the Orioles to the regional championship at Plainfield. Will Caitlin Clark play for Indiana Fever against Washington Mystics on 6/3/25? Prediction, TV, injuries
The Indiana Fever are mighty thin as they host the Washington Mystics on Tuesday, June 2. Indiana (2-4) is missing three guards, including star Caitlin Clark, and has just eight players available. The Fever used a hardship exception to add four-year veteran guard Aari McDonald. The Fever have lost three straight games, one of those to the Mystics (3-4) in Washington. The Mystics' only recent win is last week's 83-77 victory over the Fever. Brittney Sykes had 21 points and 9 rebounds, while rookies Kiki Iriafen and Sonia Citron combined for 29 points and 15 rebounds. A Grade II strain is slightly more serious, where there would be some loss of function, and that typically takes 4-6 weeks for a full recovery. In four games this season, Caitlin Clark averaged 19.0 points, 9.3 assists, 6.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals, making 31.4% of her 3-pointers.
