Red, White and BOOM! less than a month away
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — Every Fourth of July, there are traditions such as cook-outs, hanging out with family and if you in the Peoria area, there's a really big fireworks show on the riverfront.
The Chose Greater Peoria Red, White and BOOM! looks to once again draw in hundreds of thousands of people, to prove once again they are the 'best fireworks show in Illinois.'
Every year, both sides of the Illinois River are lined with spectators. Some people stake out their prime watching spot early in the day and camp out. Others watch from as far away as Glen Oak Park.
According to state Rep. Jehan Gordan-Booth, the event is perfect for people of all ages.
'Whether you have a six-month-old or an 89-year-old parent or grandparent,' she said. 'Every age, every generation in between can come down here, feel safe, feel secure, and frankly, enjoy one of the treasures that we have in this country, celebrating our country's birthday.'
While 'Red, White, & BOOM!' sees large turnout, there's virtually no trace left Friday
Organizers are planning on having a great turnout, as they are partnering with other community groups in Peoria such as the Peoria Fire Department, Peoria Police Department and more to ensure safety.
Gordon-Booth said the event outdoes itself year after year.
'I think every year they find a way to make it a little bit better,' she said. 'That's the exciting part about the folks who have been around this for a while. We really keep leveling this opportunity up.'

WMBD Children programming rescheduled due to power outage
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — Some children's shows that were meant to air on Saturday have been rescheduled to air during the week. The four children's shows did not air at the originally scheduled time due to a power outage. The shows have been rescheduled to air during the Family Feud 3:30 p.m. time slot from Tuesday to Friday. The new schedule will have: Tails of Valor, airing at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Did I Mention Invention?, airing at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Lucky Dog Reunion, airing at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Fourth of July celebration will return to Baltimore's Inner Harbor, partnered with Cherry Hill festival
The annual Baltimore City Fourth of July Celebration will return to the Inner Harbor on July 4, in collaboration with the Cherry Hill Arts & Music Waterfront Festival. The show at the Inner Harbor will start at 6 p.m., which will include local performances at the Harbor Amphitheater. A dazzling fireworks display will begin around 9:30 p.m. Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott says the best spots to watch the fireworks show are at the Inner Harbor, Federal Hill, and Harbor East. You can also get a good glimpse of the fireworks show in the Cherry Hill community, where the annual Cherry Hill Arts & Music Waterfront Festival will be held from 1 p.m. until 10 p.m. "Every summer, Baltimoreans look forward to the Fourth of July at the Waterfront, which always delivers some of the best fireworks in the country and entertainment for the whole family," said Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott, who will make his way through the Inner Harbor on a kayak. What's the Cherry Hill Arts & Music Waterfront Festival? This will be the ninth Cherry Hill Arts & Music Waterfront Festival, held at Middle Branch Park. There will be live music all day, food trucks, vendors, and exhibits. This year, there will be a drone show that coincides with the Inner Harbor fireworks. "If you are looking for great music, great food, great time, and a great drone show to go along with the great fireworks show we are having at the Inner Harbor, make your way down to Cherry Hill," Mayor Scott said.
