Top Democrat Hakeem Jeffries brutally mocked after getting busted in embarrassing Photoshop fail
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries raised eyebrows on Sunday after posing for a photo in his hometown of Brooklyn, New York.
In the image, the 54-year-old leans against a park bench with his hands in his pockets.
'Home sweet home,' he captioned it, before resharing the post on his Instagram Stories with Lil' Kim's Lighter's Up playing.
However, fans quickly noticed that the bench Jeffries was leaning on was drastically warped around his hips and upper thighs, indicating that the image may have been edited.
'Bro why did you Photoshop your hips? Or are park benches in Brooklyn wavy like that?' one follower commented.
'You've got a terrible social media team, my man. Work on those editing skills,' added a second.
A third wrote, 'How is this post helpful with everything going on in our country.'
Jeffries was also brutally mocked on X, formerly Twitter, including by a number of popular political influencers.
'Hakeem Jeffries is such a charisma black hole that it's warping the fabric of spacetime,' wrote journalist Ken Klippenstein.
'Hakeem Jeffries slimming himself in Photoshop is the most transparency we've seen from Democrats in years,' said Republican commentator Erin Maguire.
'LMAO! Hakeem Jeffries tried to make a super relatable post on his Instagram, but he is so photoshopped everyone noticed the entire BENCH is WARPED,' wrote Florida-based pundit Eric Daugherty.
DailyMail.com has contacted Hakeem for comment.
It comes just days after Jeffries put a few lawmakers to sleep in the House chamber during a marathon overnight session while pushing back against President Donald Trump's 'Big, Beautiful Bill.'
While Republicans worked to gather the votes necessary for final passage of the massive Trump-backed bill last week, Democrats, led by House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, deployed delay tactics.
Jeffries took to the floor just before 5am to begin an arduous, hours-long speech about the dangers presented by the GOP legislation.
Social media was ablaze with comments from people calling out the politician's Photoshop job
'I feel the obligation Mr. Speaker to stand on this House floor and take my sweet time,' the Democrat leader proclaimed well into his remarks.
His speech began with stories of Americans who could be impacted by the Trump bill's cuts to Medicaid and social programs.
As of 9.45am, the New Yorker was still droning on while several of his fellow Democrats could be seen behind him with eyes closed and heads folded down.
Despite his enthusiasm for hampering the GOP's plans, his colleagues seemed less excited. In fact, many appeared to be asleep.
'While Hakeem Jeffries continues putting people to sleep with his lies about the One Big Beautiful Bill, we remain focused on delivering historic tax cuts for families and small businesses, secure borders, and energy dominance,' Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, R-Iowa, wrote on X.
White House Congressional Communications Director Charyssa Parent noted on X: 'Rep. Jeffries has put his own members to sleep.'

JoJo Siwa addresses pregnancy rumours amid her budding romance with Chris Hughes
JoJo Siwa has addressed rumours she could be pregnant after one of her videos went viral on TikTok. The Dance Moms alum, 22, is in a relationship with Chris Hughes, after they met on Celebrity Big Brother in April. On Wednesday, she asked her fans to play the game '2 truths & a lie' - before she read out three statements, one being a lie and the other two being truthful. She then said: '1. I've never smoked a [cigarette] 2. I'm pregnant 3. This song comes out on Spotify Friday.' JoJo was playing into online speculation that she could be expecting after Chris gently rubbed his finger over her tummy during a recent TikTok video. Fans wrote things like, 'Pregnancy craving???' as she tucked into a plate of red food. Another wrote: 'When the pregnancy craving is red 40,' and another penned, 'r u pregnant?' After JoJo shared the 'two truths and a lie' video, social media users jumped to the comments to choose which option was the lie, while others applauded JoJo for nonchalantly poking fun at the pregnancy speculation. A fan typed, 'Everyone's saying it's 1 or 3, meaning everyone thinks she's pregnant,' and another added, 'You Gonna be a Dance mom.' 'Not you addressing the pregnancy rumors in the most hilarious fashion,' one shared, and another penned, 'Joelle not u egging on the pregnant rumors. Youre too funny.' Others replied to the comment and said, 'She's brilliant smiling her way through life is the key' and 'She's doing it in style and hitting the silly rumors out of the park.' On TikTok, a number of videos have since been posted as fans shared their personal reaction to the speculation as well. It comes as her cover of Bette Davis Eyes was released on Friday after a social media clip of her singing it at a show went viral. JoJo decided to record a studio version of the track for fans, and said: 'Performing Bette Davis Eyes live in London was one of the most thrilling moments on stage. 'The crowd's reaction was so amazing, I knew I had to release it as a single. The song is a classic, full of confidence and mystery, and I wanted to bring my own interpretation to it while honoring the original. I can't wait for my fans to experience it!' Siwa has previously opened up about her plans for parenthood in the future during an interview with Cosmopolitan last year. A fan typed, 'Everyone's saying it's 1 or 3, meaning everyone thinks she's pregnant,' and another added, 'You Gonna be a Dance mom' 'Not you addressing the pregnancy rumors in the most hilarious fashion,' one shared, and another penned, 'Joelle not u egging on the pregnant rumors. You're too funny' She explained at the time that she wanted to have three babies at the same time with different surrogates. 'Because I'm gay and I have to plan a pregnancy much different than a straight person, I actually want to take three eggs, fertilize three eggs, and have three surrogates,' JoJo stated. 'So technically, they'll all be [from] the same batch but they would all be born separately. Then maybe their little birthdays will land on different days and they can be like triplets, but like, not.' The dancer than said to the outlet that her three babies will 'be here' in three years 'whether you like it or not.' The performer has been promoting her new cover of the Kim Carnes song Bette Davis Eyes on Instagram - which dropped on Thursday. Last month, JoJo set the record straight on her sexuality amid her budding romance with Love Island star Chris Hughes while talking to E! News. It was confirmed in June that the singer and TV personality are dating after first crossing paths on Celebrity Big Brother U.K. a few months earlier in April. Siwa first came out as part of the LGBTQ+ community in 2021 - and initially identified as pansexual before coming out as lesbian. However, JoJo expressed to the outlet that she is queer. 'I think the most beautiful term now is queer. I think queer is an umbrella of, "Look, I'm just me,"' the performer stated. 'And I think the most beautiful thing about the LGBTQIA community is love. And that goes both ways.' Siwa continued, 'There's loads of beautiful, different sexualities. Sexuality and queerness is a lovely rainbow that has all different places, and it also has places on this rainbow that we don't even know exist yet.' The star brushed aside criticism and explained, 'I feel so in the right position for myself. I feel so content with my happiness. 'I feel so relaxed and at ease with where I'm at. I feel so happy and peaceful that the love that I feel is so real. You can't really help who you fall in love with.' JoJo also briefly talked about her new beau Chris and revealed that she has 'never 'second guessed' what she feels for the reality star. 'Therefore, I've never second guessed my happiness, I've never second guessed what I'm feeling. And I think that's the most beautiful thing. When I think about him, I'm full of pure joy. When I speak about him, I'm full of pure joy.' Back in April, the dancer first crossed paths with Hughes on Celebrity Big Brother - where they first developed a close friendship. But their bond caused viewers to speculate that there was more between them and in April following the show's afterparty, JoJo notably split from girlfriend and Australian influencer Kath Ebbs. Siwa also publicly confirmed her new romance with Chris during an interview for Capital Radio. She admitted that their relationship was no longer 'platonic' and said that she was 'head over heels' for Hughes. And during an appearance on Capital Breakfast, JoJo described their relationship as 'earthquake proof.' JoJo - who has had the chance to meet Hughes' parents - also stated that she is very happy with Chris and said that he makes her want to be a better person each day. Earlier this week, Siwa was ridiculed by fans after she unveiled a new look as she shared a glimpse at a new music video on Monday for her Bette Davis cover. The star also altered the lyrics in tribute to her boyfriend Chris. JoJo could be seen sported platinum blonde hair that was curled into a vintage-inspired style. She also wore pearls around her neck and a light blue bralette top with ruffled details. The look was in stark contrast to her previous one in recent years - such as opting for bold ensembles and heavy eye makeup. One penned on X: 'Never thought I'd see the day where JoJo Siwa gets a boyfriend and becomes a trad wife,' referencing to the term 'traditional wife' that has shown women on social media playing a conventional role at home. 'She's setting us back decades, making men think it was actually "just a phase" and they can actually "turn us straight" if they want to. It's so bad,' another wrote.

'This is a tough one' Trump says in visit to flood-ravaged Texas
"This is a tough one," Trump said during his July 11 trip, kicking off a 47-minute discussion in Kerrville, Texas, with local, state and federal officials. "It's hard to believe the devastation. Trees that are 100 years old just ripped out of the ground. I've never seen anything like this, and I've seen a lot of bad ones." More: 'Filled with grief and devastation' : Trump surveys Texas flood damage. Live updates Trump said he met with parents who lost children in the flood. "Nobody has any idea how and why a thing like this could happen," he said as he remembered the "young angels" who died while staying at the girls' camp, Camp Mystic. 'Americans' hearts are shattered,' Trump tells community The president's visit to Texas sought to blunt criticism from Democrats who have alleged the president's cuts to the National Weather Service might have slowed the agency's weather forecasts and flood alerts getting to residents on the morning of July 4, as heavy rain pushed floodwaters from the banks of the Guadalupe River. Trump said the federal government has deployed more than 400 first responders and enabled 1,500 rescues during the flood. "The people here - first responders, the sheriff's office, all of the police, law enforcement, they've done an unbelievable job," Trump said. Trump and first lady Melania Trump surveyed damage near the Guadalupe River in Kerrville that included an overturned tractor, several downed trees and plastic debris as the president received a briefing from Texas Gov. Gregg Abbott and local officials. Wearing a white "USA" cap, Trump nodded his head as he listened to officials. Along the way to the site, residents standing in front of strips malls and at intersections waved as Trump's motorcade rolled by. "All across the country, Americans' hearts are shattered," Trump said. "All the beautiful souls. We're filled with grief and devastation at the loss of life. And unfortunately, they're still looking. There's a lot of missing children." Melania Trump offered her "deepest sympathies" to everyone who lost loved ones. "We are grieving with you. Our nation is grieving with you," she said, pointing to a bracelet she received from the camp in honor of the girl campers who died. "I will be back. I promise." Trump snaps at reporter who asked about flood alert system Trump has avoided playing the blame game in response to the flood disaster in Texas, taking a drastically different approach in the Republican-led state compared to Los Angeles' wildfires in January, which he pinned largely on Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom. Trump last year accused then-President Joe Biden of being slow to respond to Hurricane Helene's devastation in North Carolina. More: Why are flash floods so deadly? How to stay safe from their shocking power. "They failed us in North Carolina, but when we got in on Jan. 20, they fixed it up in no time," Trump said of FEMA. He snapped at a reporter who asked about concerns with the community's flood alert system. "Only an evil person would ask a question like that," Trump said. "I think this has been heroism ... It's easy to look back and say, 'Oh what could have happened here and there.'" CNN reported that new cost control rules enforced by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem slowed FEMA's response in Texas. DHS has disputed the report. A new DHS policy requires that Noem personally sign off on all contracts of more than $100,000 issued by FEMA and other divisions of her department. Democrats led by Texas Reps. Greg Casar and Rep. Jasmine Crockett on the House Oversight Committee sent letters Friday seeking "answers" from FEMA, the Department of Commerce Inspector General and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, which oversees the weather service. "The tragic loss of life underscores the urgent need to understand what contributed to this disaster and how we can better prepare for future disasters," their letter to NOAA reads. "Rigorous oversight is needed not only to provide answers to grieving communities in Central Texas, but also to save lives in future extreme weather events." White House says FEMA has enough funds for recovery aid On his way to Texas on Air Force One, Trump was joined by Abbott and the state's two Republican U.S. senators, Ted Cruz and John Cornyn. Rep. Wesley Hunt, R-Texas, whose congressional district is near Houston, not the flooded area, also joined the president. Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, joined the president at the roundtable. At one point, Trump gave the microphone to television personality and loyal supporter Dr. Phil, who had a seat at the table. The White House's budget chief told reporters earlier Friday the Federal Emergency Management Agency has the funding to assist in flood recovery efforts even as the Trump administration has talked about eliminating FEMA. Russ Vought, director of the White House Office of Management and Budget, said FEMA has about $13 billion in its reserves to pay for necessary expenses in Texas. "The president has said to Texas, anything it needs it will get," Vought said, adding that, "We also want FEMA to be reformed. We want FEMA to work well ... The president is going to continue to be asking tough questions of all of his agencies." Earlier this week, Noem continued her call for FEMA to be "eliminated as it exists today" to put more control in the hands of local and state authorities. Her push comes as FEMA has deployed hundreds of specialists and distributed supplies to the flooded areas in Texas. Noem called the flood an "unprecedented event" a she joined Trump in Texas, adding that she's never heard of a flood that "happened like this before." Reach Joey Garrison on X @joeygarrison.

Love Island star Tina Provis slams Cierra Ortega's apology for use of anti-Asian slurs on Love Island USA as she reveals childhood pain
Tina Provis has slammed Love Island USA contestant Cierra Ortega's apology for repeatedly using an anti-Asian slur as she calls for people not to 'brush off' instances of 'casual racism'. The Love Island Australia winner, 29, penned a lengthy post to Instagram on Thursday after Cierra, 25, was booted from the Love Island USA villa due to mounting backlash over her use of the slur 'chink' in past social media posts. 'Love Island USA removed a contestant for a racist slur that resurfaced online. Let's talk about why this is important,' Tina began in her post. 'In my experience, Anti-Asian racism has always been quickly brushed off. 'The same people that want to fall back 'but I didn't know it was racist' are the SAME PEOPLE complaining when you make a stand up and point out why something is racist,' Tina said. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the Daily Mail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. On Wednesday, Cierra issued an 'accountability' video, in which she said she is 'truly deeply sorry' for using a racial slur and reiterated that she 'didn't fully understand' the meaning behind the offensive term. 'I do not, and have never, condoned racism or the repression of any cultural group in any form,' Cierra wrote. 'I would never intentionally use any word, especially a slur, to tear down anyone's culture or community. When I used that word, I didn't fully understand what it meant or how much pain it carries.' The backlash against her began earlier this month, when fans discovered two social media posts (from January 2015 and February 2023) in which Cierra had described her own smile as 'chinky' and said that she wanted Botox for her eyes. Tina, who won Love Island Australia in 2021 with her ex-partner Mitch Hibberd and has also starred on I'm A Celebrity! Get Me Outta Here, questioned how Cierra could not have known the meaning of the word. 'If you're calling out an ethnic groups features as undesirable, it is racist,' she wrote. 'If we continue to let comments slide because they 'aren't that racist' or 'they didn't meant to be racist', then we're excusing and encouraging a culture of casual racism.' The Chinese-Australian then revealed how 'insecure' anti-Asian slurs made her feel about her appearance whilst was growing up in Sydney. 'There was a time where my eyes were one of my biggest insecurities, because from an early age I faced casual racism,' Tina said. On Sunday night's episode which streamed on Peacock, narrator Iain Stirling confirmed that Love Island USA contestant Cierra Ortega (pictured) 'left the villa due to a personal situation' and had left Nic Vansteenberghe 'officially single' By the time she was 18-years-old, Tina turned to heavy makeup in attempts to alter her appearance because she'd so often hear friends say they 'looked Asian' if they didn't like a photo of themselves. 'If I was getting dressed up, I never would be seen without dark eyeshadow, attempting to 'hide' my eyelids and I would've screamed seeing a picture of myself like this without false lashes,' she said. Tina also recalled being teased in primary school, including one incident where a male classmate chased her around the playground whilst pulling back his eyelids. 'I've come a long way in becoming confident in my identity and that's why I have these conversations, I want other young people to feel the same,' Tina concluded in her post. However, Tina said she's not surprised by the sheer volume of people defending Cierra online. 'I'm not shocked to see that a lot of people online are defending her, because the slur that she used is "not as bad" as other racial slurs,' she said. 'There are hundreds of comments of people claiming that they didn't even know it was a derogatory comment, which just goes to show how anti-Asian racism is downplayed and tolerated much more than it would be in other communities.' Cierra is the second person to be removed from Love Island USA this season over past remarks, with Yulissa Escobar abruptly outsed for using the N-word in past social media posts.
