Diego Velazquez sold ahead of Jacques le Marois start
A Group-race winner at two, three and four, most recently in the Minstrel Stakes at the Curragh, Diego Velazquez will bid for a first Group One success at Deauville this weekend, where he will be ridden by Christophe Soumillon.
Purchasing the horse for a 'high-profile' syndicate, Sangster said: 'He is a horse that leaves little to the imagination, he is the stamp of his father and a top-class racehorse to match.
'He's done it at Group Two level across three seasons and was Classic-placed (fourth in the French 2000 Guineas), which gives him a rare depth of form and longevity.
'The Jacques le Marois is the immediate target, and from there we have a number of exciting Group One races to consider, we are in world-class hands in that respect.
'With the strength of the ownership group and the National Stud behind him, this horse has every chance of being a major success both on the track and at stud we believe he will be very well received by European breeders.'
Diego Velazquez will join the stallion roster at the National Stud for the 2026 breeding season, with further details to be announced in due course, and Sangster said: 'We've been on the hunt for a horse like this for some time, and I'd like to thank the team at Coolmore for giving us the opportunity to get involved with a colt of his calibre.'
Soumillon's mount is one of 10 left in the Marois, with O'Brien also responsible for former Derby favourite The Lion In Winter and Rosallion (Richard Hannon), Notable Speech (Charlie Appleby) and Dancing Gemini (Roger Teal) representing British interests.
Sangster added: 'He'll be running in the Sangster family colours, which will be one for the old romantics and it is very exciting, that is for sure.
'It will be a very exciting weekend for us with Rashabar running in the Prix Guillaume d'Ornano on Saturday and Christophe Soumillon is booked to ride both.'

Glenn Hoddle has named the 'team to beat' in the Champions League and overlooked holders Paris Saint-Germain. They're a very good sign now, never mind about the new signings. 'PSG are a serious team though and really well-balanced. That's why they will be one of the favourites to go back and win it but in any sport, winning a title is one thing but retaining it is very, very difficult.' Ex-England star Karen Carney, meanwhile, declared Barcelona as PSG's biggest rival in the Champions League. The La Liga champions reached the semi-finals of the Champions League last season before losing to Inter Milan in heartbreaking circumstances. 'Barcelona's Achilles heel was just the defensive mindset last season but going forward they had absolutely everything,' she said. 'PSG will respect that and Barcelona could push them. PSG are full of quality, they're only just come back from their summer break. 'They're the ones to beat for me. It would be great if the English teams can bridge the gap but I still have my eye on that Barcelona team because if they sort out the defence they could push these guys.' Despite watching his Tottenham team concede two late goals and then lose the penalty shootout, Frank was able to take a number of positives from the Super Cup defeat. The former Brentford boss took over at Spurs earlier in the summer after the sacking of Ange Postecoglou. 'I think we played a very good game against one of the best teams in the world, maybe the best at this moment in time,' Frank said. 'We had them exactly where we wanted them for 80-something minutes until the 2-1 goal, then of course the momentum shifted a little bit. 'We showed that we can be adaptable and pragmatic, and we needed to be against a team like PSG. Panutche Camara hoping Dundee Utd lightning strikes twice against Rapid Vienna as he eyes up Euro play-off spot
The Tangerines are gearing up for a mega night at Tannadice on Thursday in their Conference League qualifier Panutche Camara is hell-bent on making history by firing Dundee United past Rapid to the brink of the Conference League group stage. United sit 2-2 after their first leg heroics in the Allianz Stadium in Vienna last week. They know a home win on Thursday in front of a sell-out crowd at Tannadice would be enough to take them into the play-off round, where the winners of AIK Stockholm and Gyor await the victors. United famously saw off Rapid in the quarter-finals of the 1984 European Cup and will be looking for lightning to strike twice. Camara said: 'Yeah, I think everyone has a chance to make a story for this big club tomorrow if we win. I think the game is going to be important. "I think it's one step for us. If we win that game, I think we're going to go to the group stage, 100 per cent. 'We're so excited about tomorrow and we are so ready. We have prepared for the game very well and we're going to fight. 'I believe in our squad. It's a good group. We were very, very young and everyone has ambition but in a good way.' Camara is well aware that it's winner takes all and the Tangerine Army can play its part. He said: 'I think it's going to be nice [a sell-out]. 'Even in the away game, we saw that and tomorrow it's going to be massive. Now, we're going to face the game like we faced the first leg. "Yeah, I think we're going to play very well and we've got more confidence now. 'They're (Rapid Vienna) going to come here to our stadium. We expect it to be a really, really good game. 'I think it's going to be a good experience for all of us players because if you go through, it's going to be a massive journey in our career. I've never played in Europe. 'I came here to play in Europe then I'm going to give everything on Thursday night.' The 28-year-old has been a big player for Jim Goodwin as he has looked to bring more power and pace into his squad. Camara said: Yeah, I think that's my big strength in football. 'I can run all day, no problem for me. I can run 12km every week, it's no problem.' Camara has played both games in the wins over UNA Strassen and then the draw in Vienna last week. Some people were surprised by that result but not anyone in the United dressing room. The player said: 'No, because we know what we're going to do. We know what the gaffer asked us to do and then we did it. 'They think because in the press conference they said they looked like a physical team, or Scottish football is physical. 'But we played. I think we're good on the ball.' Camara came up from Crawley Town in the summer. United were able to sign him after a relegation clause was triggered. The midfielder admitted he had other English options but the chance to play in European football for the first time was a massive lure. He said: 'I had a couple of clubs interested in England but I wanted a new challenge. 'When I was invited to come in to Dundee United, I didn't think too much. I spoke to the manager and then I said, I want to go there. 'I didn't know the Scottish Premier League but when I came in to training I saw it's different to what I had heard before. 'Before they talked about physical stuff but it's a really tough league. Some clubs play really, really good football.' The Guinea-Bissau international has international experience and was also in their squad for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, where he played against the likes of Mo Salah's Egypt. The former Ipswich Town player believes that will stand him in good stead. He said: 'Yeah, it's given me some good experience. 'I've played internationally, in England as well. I've played for quite a big team, Premier League team, Championship team. 'I think the level to Rapid is quite similar.' Max Watters is fit but United are without Ross Graham, Kristijan Trapanovski, Ryan Strain, Isaac Pappoe and Dario Namoo. New signing Julius Eskesen is not eligible but would be available if United were to progress into the Europa League play-off round.
