Drishyam narrates the story of Georgekutty (Mohanlal) and his family, who are suspected after the Inspector General of Police's son is killed
Drishyam 3, the third instalment of the hit mystery thriller franchise, has been generating buzz among the fans ever since its official announcement. The shooting for both versions, Malayalam featuring Mohanlal and Hindi starring Ajay Devgn, will be held simultaneously, starting from October 2025. As the project steadily moves towards the production stage, director Jeetu Joseph recently admitted that he prevented the Hindi version from being made ahead of the Malayalam film.
During a conversation with Mathrubhumi, Jeethu shared that there had been conversations about starting both versions at the same time. However, the makers of the Hindi rendition were instructed to keep off.
'There were requests to make the Malayalam and Hindi versions together, but we have not made any final judgements on those topics. There were early plans to begin with the Hindi version, but when it was suggested that this could be dealt with legally, they backed off," he explained.
Furthermore, Jeethu, who is directing Drishyam 3 with Mohanlal, said that the Malayalam script is still being finalised. The film is likely to begin production around October this year.
Recently, during an appearance at a college, Jeethu gave a big update on Drishyam 3 saying, 'I finished writing the climax of Drishyam 3 last night. I've been under immense pressure for a long time."
Talking about the film, Drishyam narrates the story of Georgekutty (Mohanlal) and his family, who are suspected after the Inspector General of Police's son is killed. The first film was released in 2013, and the second in 2021. The success of Drishyam prompted remakes in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
The film's captivating narrative, moral complexity and powerful performances captivated viewers, driving it to success and serving as a pattern for remakes in different Indian languages.
The Hindi version features Ajay Devgn, Tabu and Shriya Saran in the leads. The first instalment was helmed by Nishikant Kamat, while director-producer Abhishek Pathak came on board for the second instalment after Kamat's demise in 2020. Pathak will also be helming Driysham 3 (Hindi) with Ajay.
Coming back to Jeethu, he also has projects like Mirage, Valathu Vashathe Kallan and Ram: Part 1 in his kitty.

Shilpa Shirodkar Says She's 10th Fail, Quit Films For ‘Double MBA' Husband

Last Updated: Shilpa revealed that her decision to leave Mumbai came easily after meeting her husband. Actor Shilpa Shirodkar, who starred in hits like Hum, Aankhen, and Khuda Gawah, has opened up about walking away from a flourishing Bollywood career to live a quiet life abroad. In a recent interview, Shilpa Shirodkar shared how marrying Aparesh Ranjit — a banker and double MBA — changed the course of her life. She moved to New Zealand after marriage and has never regretted the decision. 'I don't regret taking a break. I miss being busy, but I married such a sweet, nice and simple man and that was important for me to start my life," she told Pinkvilla. 'Unfortunately, I left India and which is why it was difficult for me to continue working." Shilpa revealed that her decision to leave Mumbai came easily after meeting her husband. 'I never wanted to leave Mumbai as I was very close to my parents, but then I met my husband and within one and a half day, I said yes to him," she said. 'He was going to go abroad to study… I just liked his honesty so much that I didn't even think what am I doing." The actor also touched upon the stark difference in their educational backgrounds. 'I am a 10th fail. My husband is a banker. He is a double MBA and very well-read. I never felt small in front of him," she stated. 'I can talk to him and his colleagues about everything." On whether she received film offers after marriage, Shilpa said, 'It wasn't the space when women would get roles after marriage… I wasn't such a big star. People were happy ki gayi toh gayi." She added that moving abroad without friends, living on a budget, and building a new life helped shape her. Shilpa returned to Indian TV years later but remains content with the choices she made. view comments First Published: July 22, 2025, 04:30 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
