Soraban Closes Series A to Help Accounting Firms Grow with AI -- Not Chaos
Accounting has an execution problem — not for the accounting work, but for everything around it. Soraban's AI fixed the 60% of a firm's week they can't bill for. PHOENIX, Aug. 12, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Soraban, the Intelligent Admin Copilot for accounting firms, today announced the close of its Series A funding round led by Altos Ventures. The accounting industry isn't just short on talent — it's drowning in unbillable tasks. While most automation tools focus on the tax work itself, Soraban targets the 40-60% of the workweek that firms can't bill. "At Soraban, our mission is to eliminate the manual busywork that's draining accountants and admins — and costing firms real money," said Enoch Ko, CEO and Founder of Soraban. "The industry is hitting a wall. There simply aren't enough great professionals to keep up with demand. While others are still testing, Soraban has already gone through five tax seasons and is powering over 300 firms. This investment gives us the firepower to scale across more workflows and deliver a smarter, faster future for the profession." Soraban is an Admin System built specifically for accounting firms — automating the task execution between your tax software and your clients. From client intake and document collection to workflow coordination and final delivery, Soraban streamlines the entire admin execution layer so firms can scale without chaos. "Soraban has been a huge upgrade from our previous system. Clients love how easy it is, and the automated reminders have saved us countless hours. Even after losing a key admin, we've been able to maintain our volume — and we're excited to see where it goes next." said John Hopkins, Partner at Prospect Financial Solutions. Soraban handles the manual work firms usually give to admins — or outsource altogether — and then goes a step further: it deskills work that once required accounting staff. It truly unlocks your admin staff so they can focus on creating a better client experience. Capacity increases without headcount, and the team spends more time doing work that actually drives revenue. Grow without hiring: AI handles the repetitive tasks that used to require admin headcount. Faster turnaround, happier clients: Firms cut turnaround time and boost client satisfaction — no training required. More billable work, less burnout: Admins become workflow owners, not bottlenecks. Teams spend more time in their zone of genius. "Accounting firms aren't drowning in work, they're drowning in admin," said Cathy Anderson, investor at Altos Ventures. "Soraban doesn't just automate tasks; it rebuilds the back office from the client's point of view. Because when the client experience works, everything else does too—less chasing, more billing, and happier teams. That clarity comes from Enoch, an engineer and former accounting firm owner who's felt the pain firsthand. If you want to scale without the chaos, Soraban is the only tool you need." About Soraban Soraban is the most trusted Admin System for accounting firms. Purpose-built for accountants and admins and battle-tested through 5 tax seasons, we understand the pain. Soraban takes on tasks from client data collection, organizing workpapers, automating data entry to your tax software, and the final delivery to your client. Kroger resolves all claims from C&S Wholesale Grocers
American supermarket chain Kroger has reached a settlement with C&S Wholesale Grocers, concluding a litigation in the Superior Court for the State of Delaware. In March 2025, C&S filed a lawsuit claiming that Kroger's failure to finalise its proposed $24.6bn merger with Albertsons Companies resulted in a breach of their agreement. This breach, according to C&S, entitles them to a termination fee since the incomplete deal thwarted their opportunity to purchase close to 600 stores and additional assets that Kroger and Albertsons had consented to divest as part of gaining regulatory clearance for their merger. Kroger chairman and CEO Ron Sargent stated: "We are pleased to resolve the claims from C&S, and we look forward to a friendly relationship with them going forward. "Kroger remains focused on serving our customers and running great stores across the US." In September 2023, Kroger and Albertsons Companies reached a definitive agreement with C&S Wholesale Grocers for the sale of select stores, distribution centres and other assets as part of their proposed merger, originally announced in October 2022. In December 2023, a coalition of legislators urged the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to prevent Kroger's proposed acquisition of Albertsons. The merger has encountered resistance from consumer advocacy groups and US state secretaries, who are concerned about potential negative impacts on market competition within the grocery sector. By April 2024, the companies amended their agreement with C&S Wholesale Grocers to modify the initial divestiture package. The revised package was designed to address concerns from federal and state antitrust regulators regarding the original agreement and included an expanded set of stores and additional non-store assets. However, the merger between the two companies was abandoned in December 2024 due to legal challenges. The terms of the settlement between Kroger and C&S Wholesale Grocers have not been disclosed. In March 2025, Kroger filed an official response and counterclaims regarding the lawsuit brought forth by Albertsons in the Delaware Court of Chancery over the abandoned deal. "Kroger resolves all claims from C&S Wholesale Grocers" was originally created and published by Retail Insight Network, a GlobalData owned brand.
