'Huge trouble': NRL fans warned of top players being poached after fresh RTS news
Papenhuyzen is reportedly attracting interest from the northern hemisphere rugby union competition, while Warriors star Tuivasa-Sheck was linked with a big money move to the competition in 2027. While Tuivasa-Sheck will be off contract with the Warriors, it appears R360 is opening up another avenue for players to earn larger pay days.
And it appears R360 is set to target the top names from the competition and clubs have been warned the danger is real. Speaking on Thursday morning to Greg Alexander on SEN Radio, Warriors CEO George Cameron doubled down and suggested the threat of R360 could be a worry going forward.
"There is a lot of sports and a lot of innovation around sport that comes to life from time to time. But being over here in New Zealand where Rugby is very big over here, I have been hearing a lot over the last month about Rugby360 getting off the ground and the discussions they are having with any number of main rugby players," he said.
"And heard, quite frankly, that a number of our major names in rugby league would be a target to them as well. I get that, they are a PR machine it would be great for their sport, I think it is real. But is it going to tear apart rugby league, absolutely not...however, I am sure they will come knocking and cause some clubs some headaches with the financial windfalls on offer."
While Super Rugby and European Rugby can expect to be raided for their talent, rugby league is also a major poaching ground and could see some elite players make the move for a much larger sum of money. And the news about Tuivasa-Sheck has certainly raised some eyebrows.
RTS camp address R360 conversations
Speaking on Sport Nation NZ, reporter Alex Chapman claimed on Thursday morning Tuivasa-Sheck's camp had confirmed the news the player's management had been approached by R360. Speaking on Sport Nation NZ Radio, Chapman said the camp confirmed they 'had the conversations' with the competition, but were 'taking a breath' after initial talks. The reporter also claimed a number of current All Blacks have also been approached over the switch.
With the reports coming in fast, the rugby league community is now raising concerns over how the NRL could stop the Saudi-backed league from taking their top talent. Fans have reacted with some hesitation to the news. While NRL clubs can expect a bigger salary cap to work with when the new broadcast deal is announced, it will still fall short of the financial power R360 is expected to be able to offer players.
Should it get off the ground, it's understood that many current All Blacks are also being eyed up for R360 👀MORE 👉 https://t.co/3H5f2iGdsO pic.twitter.com/mSqm3lpc3l

Ryan Papenhuyzen remains coy on R360 links
Papenhuyzen has been made aware of the reports and admitted most players would "have to consider" the huge money thrown at them. While the money was eye-opening, the Melbourne fullback remained coy on whether it was of interest of him to make a switch to rugby union. Instead he said he wasn't looking any further than aiming to win back-to-back competitions with the Storm.
"I've just got a big focus for winning the premiership and hopefully going back-to-back next year and then we'll see, but you always look forward to your future and see what's happening," he said. "I'm sure my manager is doing a good job with that and has got it all under control."

"We Got Funded!" Data Guardians Network Raises US$5 Million to Build the Future of Ethical AI
You're reading Entrepreneur Middle East, an international franchise of Entrepreneur Media. Data Guardians Network (D-GN), a decentralized platform transforming global human input into highly accurate, ethically sourced frontier training data for AI, has closed a US$5 million pre-seed round led by Saudi businessman Hamoud Al-Rumayyan, Web3 infrastructure leader droppGroup and veteran crypto firm Hub Culture. The investment fuels D-GN's emergence from stealth and accelerates its global rollout, scaling contributor operations, multimodal data pipelines and enterprise integrations worldwide. D-GN enables enterprises to build trustworthy AI by sourcing diverse, human-created and -labelled frontier datasets through a decentralized contributor model. Users around the world complete data annotation tasks - such as image classification, voice tagging, lip syncing and human-emotion mapping - through a gamified experience, and earn Tether's USDT stablecoin for their data annotation work. D-GN empowers users across the world with alternative income models. Thanks to this global network of users, the resulting AI dataset is more accurate, diverse, and regulation-ready. Johanna Cabildo, Founder and CEO of D-GN, comments, "The truth is, today's AI isn't intelligent, it's predictive. What's missing is context, consciousness and credibility. Data Guardians Network exists to fill that gap. We're building the intelligence layer of the AI economy, a system grounded in real human input, ethical provenance and data you can trust. If AI is the engine, we're the compass." Unlike other AI annotation services, which often face criticisms over opaque labor practices and the use of unlicensed content, D-GN builds datasets through a decentralized contributor model with on-chain traceability - using the Solana blockchain - combined with stablecoin payments, openly ensuring workers are paid fairly and AI models are trained responsibly. "As Saudi Arabia transforms into a global hub for AI and innovation, our focus must remain on building infrastructure rooted in ethics, equity and opportunity," said Mr. Hamoud Al-Rumayyan. Adding further context, he said "Data Guardians Network represents a new model, one where the people who power AI are finally included in its value creation. This is not just an investment, it's a step toward a more inclusive digital economy aligned with the Saudi Vision 2030." With this investment, D-GN will scale contributor operations in MENA, Latin America and Southeast Asia, with the goal of becoming the largest ethical AI data producer in the world. droppGroup, the Miami-based AI and blockchain enterprise infrastructure leader behind sovereign-grade implementations with the likes of Saudi Aramco, Cisco and Oracle, also joined the round as an investor. droppGroup's investment furthers its focus on sovereign-grade ethical AI infrastructure. It also expands a portfolio of critical technologies built around compliance, transparency and human-centered design. "Billions of dollars in lawsuits are hitting the AI industry because foundational models have been trained on stolen or unlicensed data," said Faisal Al Monai, Chairman of droppGroup. "D-GN solves this industrial problem. It transforms global human input into an auditable, tokenized data engine that ethically trains, verifies and improves AI systems across voice, image and text. We made this investment because we see this as a core pillar of the future AI stack for all our clients." "When we saw Meta purchase a stake in Scale AI for around US$14-15 billion, investing in D‑GN at this stage looked like a steal. More importantly, D‑GN does it differently, upholding both ethical AI and ethical labor standards. No outsourcing to click‑farms, no gray IP zones - just clean, compliant, fair data."

'Makes no sense': NRL facing fresh scrutiny as Storm's run home raises eyebrows
The controversial NRL draw has once again been questioned with calls for change going forward with the Melbourne Storm's run home raising eyebrows. The Storm are currently sitting third on the ladder and four points of leaders the Canberra Raiders. A hard-fought win over the Roosters last Thursday kept their hopes of a minor premiership alive and Craig Bellamy will be looking at the fixtures with a number of tough games coming up against the Bulldogs and Panthers. However, their draw has been questioned with the Storm afforded a nice buffer between games heading into the NRL finals. SEN Radio host Matt White was critical of the final six rounds of the regular season and questioned how a team can only receive Thursday and Friday night games across such an extended run. The Storm will benefit from six or seven day turnarounds as they hunt the minor premiership. This means the Storm can find a consistent preparation and recovery routine each week, which will benefit the side. And White said a change for the draw needs to be looked at for the 2026 season with the fixtures and byes during the State of Origin series appearing to impact certain teams more than others. "Can someone explain the draw. The answer is no. I can't," White said. "I didn't even notice the Storm will play all of their final six matches on either a Thursday night, or a Friday no weekend footy for the Melbourne Storm in the run home. In the last weeks of the premiership - if you include last week just gone - the Melbourne Storm will have played the Roosters and the Broncos twice within seven rounds. It just makes absolutely no sense at certainly has got to be looked at. The confusing inconsistency is crazy." The Storm still have the Panthers and Bulldogs coming up in their fixtures. This would suggest the broadcasters want the top of the table games in prime time slots to maximise their audience. But on Thursday morning, NRL great Greg Alexander also acknowledged the draw has become a constant issue for fans watching the game. "The questions about the draw, you may as well talk to a brick wall. I have no all over the shop," Alexander said on SEN Radio when replying to a question from a listener about the Storm's run of Thursday night games. NRL commentator Voss added: "How can they not come up with a system where every team plays each other once, before anyone plays someone else the run of Thursday nights?" Alexander said the Storm will benefit from the consistency of the draw heading towards NRL finals. This also isn't the first time there has been question marks raised over the draw this year. Calls for standalone State of Origin series Earlier this year, the draw came under intense scrutiny during the State of Origin series. A number of teams were missing a host of players throughout the series, but were not afforded a bye. As well as not being allowed to play NSW or Queensland players the weekend before an Origin game, clubs are often forced to make difficult decisions for the games that follow. Ivan Cleary had to make that call with his representative players. The Panthers were unable to have their five NSW players back up in Round 16 to take on the Warriors because of the short turnaround in New Zealand. The Warriors only had two Origin representatives across the whole series, while the Tigers had just one but both teams were afforded two byes during the Origin period. Fans are becoming frustrated with the 'inconsistency' with the draw with calls for change in 2026.
