The little-known punishment cruise lines can impose on passengers revealed after Carnival brawl

Daily Mail29-04-2025

A vicious melee among Carnival Cruise passengers in Texas led to more than 20 people being placed on a no-sail list.
Shocking footage captured the moment chaos erupted inside a Galveston boarding terminal on Saturday.
An angry crowd of men and women were kicking, punching and screaming at each other as stunned witnesses tried to stay out of the way of the violent mess.
People were also tackled and shoved to the ground as security guards rushed over to the mob and tried to diffuse the situation.
'It went down this morning ‼️' Trelle Ray, who shared the shocking video that garnered more than 1.2 million views, wrote on Facebook.
It is unclear what sparked the mayhem among the dozens of people as they off-boarded the Carnival Jubilee boat following a Caribbean vacation.
Regardless, the popular cruise line said the violence was unacceptable and has issued a harsh punishment to the people who were involved.
'We will not tolerate such behavior, and 24 people have been placed on our Do Not Sail list,' a Carnival Cruise Line spokesperson told DailyMail.com in an email.
The punishment will not just prevent them from sailing on future Jubilee voyages - it will ban them from the entire fleet of Carnival Cruises.
The brawl happened under the jurisdiction of US Customs and Border Patrol and the matter has since been turned over to local police.
At least one person was arrested, but it is unclear what charges they are facing, the New York Post reported.
Cruise lines have individual no-sail lists that ban vacationers from sailing with them again, unlike the No Fly List, which prevents people from boarding all commercial flights traveling to, from or within the US.
More than 4,300 commenters reacted to the action-packed video, with many in disbelief at what they saw.
A viewer wrote: 'It's in front of kids for me! Like be forreal !!'
'That's pathetic... I hope they all went to jail and was banned from every cruise line,' another person said.
'This is so chaotic! It's ridiculous and embarrassing,' someone added.
One woman testified: 'This is sad, but not uncommon for this cruise line… I work in the travel industry...'
Carnival Cruise Line has seen its fair share of unruly behavior from guests. Three years ago, an en-route ship was actually forced to turn around and dock as a result of an outrageous incident.
More than 60 passengers joined in on a dancefloor pile-up that stemmed from jealousy over a threesome between passengers in June 2022.
According to a witness, the partners of those in the threesome started fighting each other before the altercation spiraled out of control.
Video showed dozens of passengers punching and shoving one another. Bottles were smashed and a woman was cut, although no serious injuries were reported.
A witness said it started just before 2am and lasted for an hour where the ship's nightclub and casino were located.
The fight then started moving around from the fifth floor to the first floor. Security guards attempted to break up the fight - but they were outnumbered.
With no other choice, the Coast Guard escorted the ship to dock and the NYPD had to get involved before the boat could return to its intended path.

Music icon, 85, sues sexual assault accusers for $500,000,000

Legendary Motown singer Smokey Robinson has filed legal documents in Los Angeles seeking $500million (£392m) in damages from four former employees who have accused him of sexual assault. The lawsuit, which follows civil allegations brought by the women, was reported by which claims to have reviewed the legal filings submitted by Robinson's legal team. According to the publication Robinson, 85, and his wife Frances assert in the court documents that they consistently treated their household staff with respect and generosity. In the filings, Robinson strongly denies all allegations of sexual misconduct and claims that the plaintiffs were treated as 'extended family.' The documents reportedly outline various acts of kindness and support the couple extended to the women during their employment, including gifts such as concert tickets, vehicles, financial help for dental emergencies, and more. As part of the defense, Robinson submitted evidence intended to demonstrate the friendly nature of his relationship with the plaintiffs. One example cited in the documents is his attendance at the graduation dinner of a plaintiff's child and the gifting of a vacation. The Daily Mail also reports that Robinson's legal team submitted text messages sent by the plaintiffs, including messages such as 'Love you,' 'Happy birthday… God bless you,' and invitations to personal events. The countersuit reportedly includes claims of defamation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, financial elder abuse, invasion of privacy, and civil conspiracy. Robinson is also asking the court to publicly identify the plaintiffs, arguing that media outlets have already begun reporting on the case, making anonymity impractical and unfair. As of now, no criminal charges have been reported, and the case remains a civil matter. The four former employees alleged repeated sexual assault and harassment at his Los Angeles-area home and other locations, including Las Vegas. The women, identified in the complaint as Jane Doe 1 through 4, also name Robinson's wife, Frances, as a defendant, accusing her of creating a hostile work environment and failing to intervene despite alleged prior knowledge of her husband's behavior. The plaintiffs are seeking a jury trial and at least $50 million in damages (approximately £40 million). In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, the couple's attorney, Christopher Frost, called the claims 'vile' and 'false,' describing the suit as 'an ugly method of trying to extract money.' He added that the defense plans to file a motion to dismiss based on inconsistencies and timeline issues in the complaint. According to the suit, the alleged assaults span from 2007 to 2024 and include claims of rape, sexual battery, false imprisonment, and failure to pay minimum wage. The women allege a pattern of predatory behavior and emotional abuse, claiming Robinson used his position to isolate and exploit them. More Trending The lawsuit also accuses Frances Robinson of verbal abuse and the use of 'ethnically pejorative language,' contributing to what the plaintiffs describe as a toxic work environment. A news conference addressing the lawsuit was scheduled for Tuesday in Los Angeles, according to Variety. Smokey Robinson, a central figure in the rise of Motown, is known for hits like Cruisin' and Tracks of My Tears, and has received numerous honors including a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and the National Medal of Arts. Cruise-and-dash Brits who fled ship in Ibiza racked up huge £2,700 bill in less than TWO DAYS from booze and casino fees

A BRITISH couple arrested after allegedly trying to dodge a four-figure cruise liner extras bill 'did a runner' less than 48 hours into their luxury trip around the Med, the Sun can today reveal. Police said on Friday the pair had been held on suspicion of fraud at Ibiza Airport after 'pushing their way' off the ship when it docked on the holiday island. 4 4 Today it emerged they had been on board the Costa Toscana, a Costa Cruises vessel which was only making its second stop after leaving the French port of Marseille two days earlier, when they abandoned ship. And well-placed sources said they were about at the boarding gate of a Ryanair flight to London Stansted when they were taken into custody as new details of the incident began to surface. We can today reveal the EUROS 3,196 (POUNDS 2,685) tab the suspects, a man aged 23 and a woman aged 18, had built up included a bar bill as well as Internet expenditure and extras in the ship's casino. The Costa Toscana, which left Ibiza for Palermo in Sicily without them, docked in Marseille yesterday morning at the end of its seven-day Mediterranean tour. It was not immediately clear today whether the two Brits are still being retained in Ibiza. A spokesman for Costa Cruises, an Italian-owned cruise line whose parent organisation is Carnival Cruise Line, confirmed the arrests but said: 'For privacy reasons, we do not delve into matters concerning individual guests. 'However, any irregularities are promptly reported to the competent authorities, who have the responsibility to intervene directly to take the necessary measures." A spokesman for the National Police in Ibiza, which made the detentions, said last Friday: 'Spanish National Police officers arrested a man aged 23 and a woman aged 18 who are both British as the suspected authors of a crime of fraud for refusing to pay several consumptions during their stay on board a cruiser liner. 'The couple tried to leave the cruise liner in a hurry with their luggage, declining to pay the cost of expenditure linked to their holiday, around 3pm on May 21. "The bill for various items, linked to their room, came to EUROS 3,196 (POUNDS 2,685). Brit woman, 21, rotting in Dubai hellhole jail without a shower for a month after being arrested on drugs charges 'Police called to the scene interviewed crew members who told them the alleged offenders had tried to push their way off the ship in their attempts to abandon the vessel. 'The couple were tracked down in the island airport after detectives launched an operation to find them. 'They were held at 6pm on May 21 as they tried to leave Ibiza.' One well-placed source told the Sun today: 'They were stopped and taken into custody as they tried to board a Ryanair flight to Stansted. 'It was pretty obvious they had decided to bring their holidays to an early end when they cleared their cabin and left the ship with all their luggage. 'They stood out like a sore thumb from all the other holidaymakers who were just getting off the cruise liner for a day trip to Ibiza with small bags.' Another said: 'They were less than 48 hours into their trip when they abandoned the cruise. 'It was only on its second stop when they disappeared 'They missed out on Palermo, Rome and the Italian Riviera." It is not yet known what happened at their court appearance.

Diddy's $61.5M Beverly Hills mansion still unsold after 200 days... realtors explain mistake he is making

Sean ' Diddy ' Combs was right about that whole mo' money mo' problems thing. While Combs sits inside a Manhattan courtroom, facing off with his sexual abuse accusers at trial, his lavish Los Angeles mansion is sitting on the market. What was once his very own palace fit for a hip hop mogul has turned into a $61.5 million real estate headache that no one wants to touch — or even talk about — due to his now disgraced name. The embattled rapper had quietly listed the palatial Los Angeles estate for a staggering $61.5 million just one week before he was arrested in September 2024. Now, the 10-bedroom, 13-bathroom mansion seems to be tainted by his scandal and has sat on the market for over 200 days. When reached Kurt Rappaport, the listing agent for Combs' mansion, by telephone, he said he was unable to speak. 'Unfortunately, I have no comment. Nothing,' he said before hanging up. Another area real estate agent said: 'I wish I could help, but no agents want to touch that house or be in any stories related to the case or the listing.' Nestled in the glitzy enclave of Holmby Hills, the estate features a 35-seat movie theater, a disco ball-inspired statue, a pool with a waterfall grotto, and a traditional pizza oven. It also has perfectly manicured grounds, a guesthouse with a recording studio, a basketball court, and a fully decked out spa house. Combs' ex, singer Cassie Ventura, did testify in court that his LA home wasn't the scene of his infamous 'freak offs'— multi-day sex and drug-fueled parties now being revealed through witnesses in court — it's likely the public is doing little to separate the estate from the scandal. No potential buyers want to brag that they bought the disgraced producer's home. The Bad Boy Records founder also owns a Miami compound which law enforcement raided in March 2024, seizing 1,000 bottles of baby oil among other evidence. Combs bought the Mapleton Drive mansion in 2014 for $39 million and is refusing to budge on its price. In March, he pulled the sprawling property off the market, only for the listing to mysteriously reappear less than 12 hours later. Despite his mounting legal problems and massive legal fees, the home's Zillow listing still includes the original asking price. There was a lowball offer in 2024, when investor Steven 'Bo' Belmont (who flips scandal-tainted celebrity homes)offered $30 million for it. He promised he could remove the negative attention and turn the mansion into a gem. 'I want to remove the stigma and focus on the charming elegance of this remarkable property,' Belmont said in a statement at the time. Belmont previously bought another scandal-plagued star's home when he purchased Kanye West's crumbling Malibu pad for a $21 million. It had been listed for $53 million. Combs' mansion was once the scene of A-list parties, including an afterparty for the 2017 Grammys. Real estate experts had labeled the asking price is 'ridiculous' in light of the sex trafficking allegations against Diddy. Only a few people have even bothering touring the Southern California mansion, and no one has shown serious interest in a purchase. It's likely that Combs being in the current news cycle in a negative light will only hinder his ability to sell the home at a profit. Meanwhile, Combs has remained in a federal jail in Brooklyn since his trial started on on May 5. He has pleaded not guilty to charges that he coerced and abused women for years, aided by associates and employees. Prosecutors said that since at least 2008, Combs engaged in a racketeering conspiracy, using his power and prestige in the entertainment industry to force women into the aforementioned 'Freak Offs.' They said he used videos of the attacks as collateral to threaten victims, and they said he also physically assaulted women and others by striking, punching, dragging and kicking them. Combs has pleaded not guilty to the charges that he coerced and abused women for years, aided by associates and employees. On Monday, incendiary images were shown in Combs' trial that reveal the disgraced rap mogul was preparing for a hotel 'freak off' despite knowing he was about to be arrested, prosecutors say.
