Man charged with murder and robbery after death of 87-year-old
A man has been charged with murder and robbery after the death of an 87-year-old in north London.
Peter Augustine, 58, of Green Lanes, Hornsey, was charged on Friday with the murder of an 87-year-old man in Manor House, the Metropolitan Police said.
He has also been charged with robbery.
Officers attended Goodchild Road in the Manor House area with the London Ambulance Service following reports of a robbery at about 5.53pm on Tuesday.
An 87-year-old man was taken to hospital, where he died on Thursday.
He has not been named but his next of kin are being supported by specialist officers.
Augustine has been remanded in custody after appearing at Willesden Magistrates' Court on Saturday and will next appear at the Old Bailey on Tuesday May 13.
Police are appealing for witnesses to contact the investigation team on 0208 345 3715 quoting Operation Cedarbirch or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

A New Jersey jury convicted Rashid Ali Bynum of murder on Monday in the gunning down of a Republican councilwoman earlier this year. The victim, Eunice Dwumfour, was serving as the first Black member of the Sayreville city council. Middlesex County Superior Court Judge Joseph Paone has set Bynum's sentencing date for Aug. 18. He faces 30 years to life in prison. Bynum was a member of Dwumfour's congregation years ago, according to Christian Onuoha, who was Dwumfour's colleague on the borough council and also a member of her church. "She was his pastor around 2018," he told Fox News Digital. "That was the last time any of us remember seeing him." Bynum has a lengthy rap sheet, including allegations of fraud, forgery and theft stretching back to 2013, the records reveal. He faced firearms charges in Virginia in 2015 and again in Maryland in 2019. In the 2015 case, he pleaded guilty to illegally carrying a concealed weapon, a misdemeanor, and received a sentence of three years' probation, court records show. Dwumfour's husband, Peter Akwue, also known as Eze Kings and a pastor in the church but based in Africa, told Fox News Digital last month that he did not know Bynum. The 30-year-old Dwumfour was a former EMT, an IT consultant and active in her local church as well as in nonprofit groups and was on the Sayreville Borough Council's Human Relations Commission, serving at-risk communities. She won an upset election as a new candidate in November 2021 over the incumbent Democrat. Police found her riddled with gunshot wounds in her white Nissan SUV around 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 1, 2023. Bynum was originally arrested in late May in his home in Chesapeake City, Virginia. He was then transferred to New Jersey.

Toddler, man in his 50s dead in suspected murder-suicide, Minneapolis police say
Two people, including a 2-year-old girl, were found dead Monday morning in what Minneapolis police are investigating as a murder-suicide. According to police, officers responded to a home on the 2900 block of Colfax Avenue North around 12:20 a.m. There they found a man in his 50s and his 2-year-old daughter dead from gunshot wounds. The child's mother was in the house at the time, but was not injured, police say. "This is an unimaginable, heartbreaking tragedy," said Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara. "Our hearts are with the child's mother as she faces an overwhelming loss, and with the officers and investigators who responded to such a devastating scene." New photos released of Travis Decker amid search for Washington dad accused of killing 3 daughters
Authorities released new images of Travis Decker as they continue their search for the 32-year-old man who is accused of killing his three young daughters in central Washington 10 days ago. The images released by the Chelan County Sheriff's Office in Wenatchee, Washington, show tattoos on Decker's ankle and arms. Another photo of his right side appears to show him walking. Hundreds of law enforcement personnel have been searching for Decker — scouring forested areas, structures and a river in the area where Decker was last known to be located, the sheriff's office said over the weekend. They have been seeking the public's help, asking residents to review doorbell cameras and security footage for signs of him. "If you are out in the woods, or recreation areas, and come across something you believe would be beneficial for law enforcement, note the time and location and mark the location on your electronics if possible." the sheriff's office said. Three days after that, the bodies of the 5, 8 and 9-year-olds were found near a campground in central Washington. Decker's unoccupied pickup truck was also found. The girls' mother, Whitney Decker, had reported to police that Decker did not return the girls on time following a planned visit. Decker is a former Army soldier who, according to police, is well-versed in wilderness survival. He is described as 5 feet, 8 inches tall and 190 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. He is "considered dangerous and may be armed," the sheriff's office said in a release alongside the new images. They urged people not to approach Decker if they encounter him and to instead call 911 immediately.
