"Learned and highly secular" Udit Raj prides Javed Akhtar over "hell over Pakistan" remarks

Lyricist Javed Akhtar attended the launch of Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut's book Narkatla Swarg (Heaven in the Swamp) in Mumbai on Saturday and said, 'Agar mere paas sirf choice Pakistan aur jahannum yani nark ki hain toh main nark hi jaana pasand karunga.'
The event was attended by several political leaders, including Shiv Sena (UBT) Chief Uddhav Thackeray and (NCP-SCP) chief Sharad Pawar.
While addressing the audience, Akhtar shared how, over the years, he has faced backlash from people due to his outspoken nature.
'People from both sides abuse me. It's not one-sided. I would be very ungrateful if I didn't admit that there are people who also appreciate me. Many support me, praise me, and encourage me,' Akhtar said.
'But this is also true: the extremists from this side also abuse me, and the extremists from that side also abuse. This is the reality. If even one of them stops abusing, I will get worried about what mistake I am making,' he added.
'One says I am a 'kaafir' and will go to hell. The other says I am a jihadi and should go to Pakistan, Akhtar said, adding, 'Toh agar mere paas sirf choice Pakistan aur jahannum yani nark ki hain toh main nark hi jaana pasand karunga.' (ANI)

Delhi High Court stays EFIs extraordinary general meeting
New Delhi [India], August 18 (ANI): The Delhi High Court has stayed the notice issued by the Equestrian Federation of India (EFI) for convening an Extraordinary General Meeting (EOGM) at Dhaula Kuan, Sachin Datta passed the interim order in a petition moved by the Rajasthan Equestrian Association, challenging the legality of the notice issued by retired Col Jaiveer Singh, who claims to be the EFI's Secretary Advocate Rajeev Dutta, along with Advocate Ashish Kothari of Kochhar and Co., appearing for the petitioner, argued that the EOGM was being convened without adherence to the mandatory requirements of the EFI Statute. They submitted that the notice had not been placed before the Executive Committee and that several members had not even received the plea, Senior Advocate Pragyan Pradip Sharma for EFI contended that the convening of the EOGM had bypassed procedural safeguards and amounted to a violation of members' rights under Article 007 of the Federation's the other hand, Senior Advocate Amit Sibal, representing the Chandigarh Horse Riders Society, opposed the application. He stressed that once the requisite number of requisitions had been received, the Secretary General was duty-bound to convene the EOGM, and the process could not be considering rival submissions, the Court noted that serious disputes persisted over EFI's governance and membership structure, which are already the subject of a fact-finding exercise by a committee headed by Justice (Retd.) Najmi Waziri. The Court also observed discrepancies in the notice period and failure to follow Article 012 of the EFI Statute.'On a prima facie conspectus, there appears no rationale in seeking to further confound the uneasy state of affairs in EFI by convening an EOGM," the Court remarked while restraining the respondents from holding the matter will now be heard along with connected petitions on October 13. Demand for Bihar STET before teacher recruitment exam intensifies, aspirants hold protest in Patna
Aspirants of teacher jobs in Bihar today staged another protest in Patna demanding that the Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) be held before the next Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE), news agency ANI reported. Demand for Bihar STET before teacher recruitment exam intensifies Live Hindustan reported that this is the second time in the last fifteen days that the aspirants have taken to the streets with their demands. On August 7, police resorted to a lathi-charge to disperse aspirants. However, the aspirants say this decision by the government would harm them. The report added that the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB), which is responsible for organising STET, is supposed to hold the exam twice a year, but it has not been held for almost one and a half years. In Bihar, STET is a mandatory eligibility test for candidates who want to apply for teaching positions at secondary schools. Only those who clear this exam are eligible to apply for government teacher vacancies.
