Switzerland to enforce Hamas ban starting May 15

Roya News01-05-2025

Switzerland will enforce a nationwide ban on Hamas and affiliated organizations beginning May 15, the government announced Wednesday.
The move aims to prevent the Palestinian group from operating within Swiss borders or using the country as a financial or logistical base.
Approved by parliament in December, the new law was introduced following the October 7 event. The legislation grants Swiss authorities expanded powers, including the ability to impose entry bans, carry out expulsions, and block support for Hamas-related activities.
'This law gives us the necessary tools to act against any support for Hamas in Switzerland,' the government said in a statement.

'Israel' says identified body of Hamas Gaza chief Mohammed Sinwar

The 'Israeli' military said Sunday that it had located and identified the body of Mohammed Sinwar, presumed leader of Hamas in Gaza, three weeks after he was said to have been killed in an air strike. "In a targeted operation of the IDF (military)... and following the completion of an identification process, it is now confirmed that the body of Mohammed Sinwar was located in the underground tunnel route beneath the European Hospital in Khan Yunis," the army said in a statement, adding that Sinwar was killed on May 13.

Video: Israel backs Palestinian militia in Gaza, supplies It with weapons

ALBAWABA — According to a report by the Hebrew-language news site Walla, Israeli security officials have verified that the Abu Shabab militia, a local armed organization that operates in southern Gaza, has been chosen as a possible Hamas substitute for overseeing some regions of the Strip. Following the rejection of Fatah and the Palestinian Authority as possible governing entities, the faction headed by Yasser Abu Shabab was chosen to be supported. According to Israeli reports, the militia has already started guarding relief convoys entering the region and safeguarding humanitarian supply routes in Rafah. Israeli authorities expressed optimism that the Palestinian populace would start to see Abu Shabab as a viable and long-term substitute for Hamas. As the group's credibility grows, they hypothesized, it may erode popular support for Hamas and perhaps shift public opinion in favor of military resistance against the organization. Israel has allegedly sent Kalashnikov weapons, handguns, and ammo to the Abu Shabab organization, Walla said, stressing that the militia is not associated with ISIS or other extreme Salafi groups. According to reports, the organization is an established tribal militia that has no ties to international terrorist networks.

Qassam Brigades say two 'Israeli' soldiers killed at point-blank range in Gaza

Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, announced that its fighters killed two 'Israeli' soldiers at point-blank range last Tuesday on Al-Nazzaz Street, east of the Shuja'iya neighborhood in Gaza City. The group said the soldiers were targeted after returning from the front lines. In a separate development, Al-Qassam stated that on Saturday, its fighters struck an 'Israeli' D9 military bulldozer with a 'Yassin 105' shell near the Yarmouk site in the Al-Manara neighborhood, south of Khan Younis in southern Gaza. These operations come as part of the group's ongoing resistance against 'Israeli' forces, which have been conducting a months-long military campaign in the Gaza Strip.
