Rugby-France coach tees off at refereeing in All Blacks series
(Reuters) -France coach Fabien Galthie has complained about the refereeing in their series against New Zealand, airing grievances over the scrum while querying several decisions following defeats in Dunedin and Wellington.
With the All Blacks looking to seal a series sweep in the third and final test in Hamilton on Saturday, Galthie told French media he expected neutrality from referees.
"We need the scrum and the ball being carried to be properly refereed," he said.
"I don't usually dwell on refereeing, but when I have expectations, I share them.
"Clearly, we need to be officiated as if we were playing on neutral ground. Neutrality."
Galthie highlighted two instances in the 43-17 loss in Wellington where he thought the French were short-changed.
He said All Black Jordie Barrett had entered a ruck illegally in the second half as the French set up a maul and rumbled over the line, only for the ball to be held up.
"Clearly, Barrett enters in an offside position, on the side. For me, that's a penalty try and a yellow card."
He also took umbrage with an interception by All Blacks winger Rieko Ioane which stopped a French attack on the try-line near the right corner.
"When he intercepts the ball on Leo Barre's last pass ... he is off-side the whole time. There is a penalty try and a yellow card.
"I'm happy for there to be that difference in the score, but that's two tries and two yellow cards."
Reuters has contacted global governing body World Rugby, which appoints test referees, for comment.

Tennis-ITF names Britain's Hutchins as new CEO
(Reuters) -The International Tennis Federation has named British former player Ross Hutchins as its new chief executive officer to take over from Kelly Fairweather at the end of October. Hutchins, 40, played for Britain at the Olympics and Davis Cup and later served as a tournament director. He is currently the ATP Chief Sporting Officer and brings vast experience from his roles in tennis and management. "In recent years, the ITF has built strong momentum across key areas, from digital innovation and the restructuring of our tours to the introduction of a balanced calendar, and the continued growth of wheelchair tennis," ITF President David Haggerty said. "Ross brings the leadership, vision, and experience to the ITF that will help us deliver on our mission for the benefit of players, fans, and nations around the world. "I would like to thank Kelly for his nine years of service and for his assistance with the transition process." As CEO, Hutchins will also lead the growth of the Davis Cup and the Billie Jean King Cup, as well as the ITF's management of tennis and wheelchair tennis at the Olympics and Paralympics and the qualification pathways for both events. Soccer-Swindon coach Holloway vows to hunt down fan who threw seat at Walsall player
(Reuters) -Swindon Town manager Ian Holloway was left seething after a fan reportedly threw a seat at Walsall goalkeeper Myles Roberts in a League Two match, urging the club to identify and reveal the name of the supporter involved in the incident. British media reported that an object was thrown from the crowd towards Roberts in the final minutes of Walsall's 2-1 win over Swindon on Saturday. The object did not hit Roberts but landed near him, with Holloway saying in an interview with club media that it had been part of a stadium seat. "I'm disgusted by whoever that person was. Whoever you are, you're not a Swindon fan. I'm not having you and I hope you get caught. That is absolutely horrific," said the 62-year-old Englishman. "How dare you put our club in the situation that you've just done. You think that's in our name. It's not in my name. It's not in this badge's name. And we don't want you in football. That's how I feel. "So let's find them, whoever it is. Give us a name ... If you've ripped a seat out and you've thrown it at somebody, I just can't stand you, whoever you are. And I will find you. I want us to find that person and shame them." In a statement, Swindon said they were working with Walsall and local authorities to identify those responsible. "Let us be clear: any individuals found to have engaged in such actions will face the strictest possible sanctions, including banning orders and legal action where appropriate," the club added.
