Hennops River: Cultural expert says uncollected spirits of crash victims could cause more crashes
Families of the three deceased SAPS constables collected the bodies in Pretoria, went to Hennops River to perform rituals, before departing for Free State on Sunday morning.
Families of three Free State police constables whose bodies were recovered from the Hennops River in Centurion, Gauteng, on Sunday gathered at the river to perform rituals before heading home with the bodies.
The victims — Constable Keamogetswe Buys, 30, Constable Boipelo Senoge, 20, and Constable Cebekhulu Linda, 24 — were reported missing for over five days before their bodies were recovered in the raging river.
The trio was last seen in the early hours of April 24, 2025, at a petrol station near the Grasmere Toll Plaza. They were travelling in a white Volkswagen Polo hatchback, en route to Limpopo from the Free State.
IOL reported that a collective memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 6, with individual funeral services planned for each constable.

Speaking to broadcaster Newzroom Afrika, renowned cultural expert, Professor Musa Xulu said it is strongly believed that if spirits of deceased accident victims remain uncollected, the results would be catastrophic.
'Previously, I advised (then) minister of transport Sibusiso Ndebele and also KwaZulu Natal MEC of Transport Sibusiso Duma on the issues of where do souls go, in terms of car accidents.
'As I said, the soul is believed to not go very far from the accident scene. When the soul thinks the living of the family are not paying attention to it, it becomes angry, and the belief system is that it then causes even more accidents. The soul is a spirit, it can enter a moving car and direct the driver to make mistakes,' Xulu told the news station.

She was resuscitated before being taken to a hospital and remains in a critical condition.

Mpumalanga cops caught with dagga worth millions to appear in court
Three police officers, caught allegedly transporting dagga worth millions in Mpumalanga, are set to appear in the Nelspruit Magistrate's Court on Thursday, 12 June. The trio, while in full uniform, were on duty and were found driving a marked police vehicle loaded with 107 bags of dagga. The officers, attached to the White River Flying Squad and SAPS, and two others were nabbed on the N4 Road near Matsulu T-junction, on Tuesday, 10 June. Members of Matsulu SAPS received information about the dodgy activity and responded. The accused face charges of corrupt activities and defeating the ends of justice. According to a statement from SAPS additional charges could also be added as the drug related investigation continues. In addition, internal disciplinary actions will also be instituted against the officers. Meanwhile, the two others are facing separate charges of dealing in the drugs. The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General Dr Zeph Mkhwanazi commented on the dagga bust and said justice must prevail. 'If any member is found to have been on the other side of the law, regardless of whether they are police officers or any law enforcement agencies, the law will have to take his cause without any fear or favour.' Major General Dr Mkhwanazi also emphasised that there is no one that is above the law. This is not the first incident where an officer was caught doing dodgy dealings. The arrest comes a day after a City of Cape Town Law Enforcement officer was arrested by the Hawks. The 43-year-old officer was arrested on charges of murder, kidnapping, and extortion. The provincial spokesperson for the Hawks, Lieutenant Colonel Siyabulela Vukubi, said the kidnapping is alleged to have taken place on May 16 in Kraaifontein. 'The victim was last seen by a friend who reported that the victim went to Bellville to view a vehicle he intended to purchase and never came back. Instead, another friend of the victim received a call from the victim reporting that he had been kidnapped and was being assaulted,' Vukubi said. IOL Police have issued a warrant for Lucky Boitumelo Molefe in the murder of engineer Armard Swart, who was shot dead after exposing Transnet tender fraud. Picture: SAPS A warrant for the arrest of Lucky Boitumelo Molefe has been issued in connection with the murder of 30-year-old engineer, Armard Swart. Swart, an employee at Q Tech Engineering Company based in Vereeniging, was shot and killed while seated in his vehicle outside his workplace by two suspects who were driving a white Hyundai i20 on 17 April 2024. Police said he sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was declared deceased on the scene.
