2025 NBA playoffs, betting, odds, lines: Oklahoma City Thunder complete best NBA regular season ATS in 35 years
The Oklahoma City Thunder have been atop the Western Conference for months and clinched the No. 1 seed in the West weeks ago. While they have been been impressive racking up wins on the way to a 68-14 regular-season record, what's more impressive is what Oklahoma City has been doing for bettors who have backed them.
The Thunder, with all of their key players taking the game off, beat the New Orleans Pelicans 115-100 on Sunday and covered as 12.5-point favorites to bring their regular-season record to 55-23-4 (70.5%) against the spread — the best regular-season ATS record since 1990, per ESPN Stats & Information.
The previous mark was held by the 2011-12 San Antonio Spurs, who went 43-21-2 ATS (67.2%) in a strike-shortened season. The 2009-10 Milwaukee Bucks had held the best regular-season ATS record in an 82-game season with a mark of 54-28 ATS (65.9%).
The Thunder were only underdogs in three games this season (2-1 ATS) and went a remarkable 51-24-4 ATS as a favorite. They were also 23-10-1 ATS as double-digit favorites, winning 32 of those 34 games outright.
Even though Oklahoma City had a historic season covering spreads, they weren't a hazard for oddsmakers on a nightly basis, in part because of those high numbers.
"It's not like everyone was piling on and picking them to cover every night," Thomas Gable, sportsbook director at The Borgata in Atlantic City, told Yahoo Sports. "The Thunder have been pretty good for us this year, so I can't complain. There were been some times where we had some big decisions on their games and people were fading them, so them covering as much of they did has actually been profitable for us here."
Jeff Sherman, the vice president of risk at the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook, echoed Gable's sentiment that the big spreads kept away public bettors from piling on.
"It was large numbers at home and on the road for Oklahoma City, enough not have people pile on them from that perspective," Sherman said. "Boston gets more support than the Thunder. Oklahoma City's spreads are pretty thick for people."
Oklahoma City is the odds-on favorite at BetMGM to win the Western Conference at -135 odds, followed by the Los Angeles Lakers (+550) and Golden State Warriors (+600). The Thunder are also the NBA title favorites at +175 odds.

Oilers' Hyman says his right wrist was dislocated late last round, knocking him out of the playoffs
EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) — Zach Hyman said Wednesday his right wrist got dislocated late last round, an injury that is sidelining one of the Edmonton Oilers' most valuable forwards for the Stanley Cup Final against the Florida Panthers. Hyman sported a brace on his right arm after undergoing surgery last week to repair the damage caused by a hit from Dallas' Mason Marchment in Game 4 of the Western Conference final. 'I knew it wasn't good when I got hit,' Hyman said. 'Right away, I just felt my wrist kind of go on me. ... Quickly realized when I saw the doctors it's something that needed surgery and something that I wasn't going to be able to play through.' Hyman memorably said after the Oilers' Game 7 loss to Florida last year that he believed they would be back in the final. In a cruel twist of fate, his teammates are, but the 33-year-old winger is not able to play in the series. Win it for Hyman has quickly becoming a rallying cry for Edmonton. 'Missing him is big; he's a huge piece of this team,' veteran Adam Henrique said." His physicality, net-front presence, in the locker room — all those sorts of things. Just a great person, so we're certainly going to miss him on the ice but he'll be there and we'll certainly fight for him." Oilers players video-called Hyman after beating the Stars without him in Game 5 of the West final to move on to compete for the Stanley Cup again. He said that meant the world to him. 'It caught me off guard,' Hyman said. 'I was crying. It was really emotional. You just feel so much a part of the team and for them to do that in that moment meant a lot.' Hyman is expected to be around the team throughout the final, flying to Florida and providing whatever insight and moral support he can without lacing up his skates. He called it 'acting like I'm playing but obviously not.' 'Some things in life you can't control,' Hyman said, 'and this is one of them.' Greer out The Panthers are mostly healthy, but they ruled out A.J. Greer for Game 1 of the Cup final with an undisclosed injury. Jesper Boqvist takes his place in the lineup. 'It's important that, fortunately for us, it's not his first time in the playoffs, so he hasn't been sitting for a long time and he's had some pretty good success when he's come in,' coach Paul Maurice said of Greer. 'And he fits. He's spent time with all of those players. There's nothing new for him, so he can come in and just play.' Brown back Edmonton is getting a key player back with Connor Brown expected to be back after missing two games because of injury. Coach Kris Knoblauch called the strong two-way winger a game-time decision, while Brown declared himself good to go and all signs pointed to nothing standing in the way of a return. No. 4 Indiana Pacers (50-32, 12-4) vs. No. 1 Oklahoma City Thunder (68-14, 12-4) Season series: Thunder, 2-0. Schedule: Game 1 at Oklahoma City on Thursday, Game 2 at Oklahoma City on Sunday, Game 3 at Indiana on June 11, Game 4 at Indiana on June 13, Game 5 at Oklahoma City on June 16 (if necessary), Game 6 at Indiana on June 19 (if necessary), Game 7 at Oklahoma City on June 22 (if necessary). How they got here: Oklahoma City overwhelmed Memphis in a first-round sweep, survived seven games against 2023 NBA champion Denver, then eliminated Minnesota in five games in the Western Conference finals. The Thunder finished off the series in a romp, leading by 39 points in a 124-94 victory, and are winning by about 11 points per game in the postseason. The Pacers aren't as dominant but find a way at the finish, taking out Milwaukee and top-seeded Cleveland in five games before knocking off New York in six in the East finals. Their four victories after trailing by 17 or more points are the most by a team in a single postseason. Storyline: The small markets get the big stage. For Oklahoma City, it's a second trip to the NBA Finals since moving from Seattle in 2008. The Thunder lost in their first try against Miami in 2012 but are heavy favorites in this one after compiling the NBA's best record behind MVP and scoring champion Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. The Pacers are making just their second NBA Finals appearance, having lost to the Lakers in 2000. Key matchup: Tyrese Haliburton vs. Lu Dort, Alex Caruso, Cason Wallace and Gilgeous-Alexander. Nobody can throw as many good defensive guards at a team as the Thunder, as Anthony Edwards found out when Oklahoma City limited him to 12-for-31 shooting in the final two games of the West finals. Haliburton is having a memorable postseason, hitting three game-winning or game-tying shots and topping all players with 9.8 assists. But the Thunder limited him well in the two regular-season matchups, holding the All-NBA point guard to 11 points and 5.5 assists per game. X-factor: Indiana's defense. The Pacers are potent, with their 117.4 points per game in the postseason the second-highest ever by a team entering the NBA Finals. But even they can't count on offense alone against a top defensive squad like Oklahoma City. The Pacers are going to have to slow down the Thunder and showed no signs of being able to in the regular season, as Oklahoma City reached 30 points in six of the eight quarters they played and averaged 126 per game. Prediction: The Thunder are top-to-bottom the best team in the NBA. The Pacers' road success and high-scoring offense allow them to compete in this series but not win it.
