Princess Anne Makes Historic Hairstyle Change for the First Time in 50 Years
, the only daughter of the late and , decided to make a historic change ahead of her 75th birthday, switching up her hairstyle for what is reportedly the first time in 50 years.
A week before the princess' 75th birthday on Aug. 15, Buckingham Palace released an official portrait of Anne with her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, taken on July 8 at a banquet at Windsor Castle in honor of French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte.

In the photo shared by royal photographer Chris Jackson, Anne wasn't wearing her hair in the signature bouffant she has donned for decades. Instead, she debuted a twisted chignon style that showcased her Festoon Tiara.
Anne, who is the sister of , wore an ivory dress with a cropped jacket with sleeves ending above the elbow, while her husband wore a tuxedo with a tailcoat that featured red cuffs and a partially red collar.Jackson captioned his post, "Special to have taken this official portrait for Princess Anne's Birthday of HRH and Sir Tim at Windsor Castle - Happy 75th Birthday! 🎂 🥳 🎉."
Anne started wearing her hair in the bouffant style in the 1980s, and it quickly became her signature look, with the princess wearing the style to all royal events until her surprise switch-up in July.

Balloon festival hailed as 'one of the best'
This year's Bristol's International Balloon Fiesta - which saw more than 300 balloon flights over the weekend - was "one of the best", its director has said. Thousands of people descended on Ashton Court Estate over the weekend to watch the hot air balloons take off and see the iconic nightglows. Ben Hardy, executive director of the fiesta, said the event was in his "top three" after 15 years in the job. Speaking to Joe Sims on BBC Radio Bristol, Mr Hardy said a tear "rolled down" his cheek during Sunday's mass ascent. The final mass ascent of the 47th edition of the fiesta saw many colourful balloons soar across the city during a beautiful sunset. "To finish a fiesta weekend with a mass ascent like the one we had straight over the city - I have to say me and a few team members sat in that arena as the last balloon took off, and a little tear did roll down the cheek," Mr Hardy said. The spectacle is a major part of the fiesta weekend, with six planned ascents across the three days showcasing a display of balloons across Bristol's skylines. This year, only four ascents took place as two were called off due to poor weather conditions. They included fan favourites that fly every year and new editions, such as a 143 ft (43.5 metres) dragon called Oggy. Mr Hardy hinted on BBC Radio Bristol that the owners of Oggy the Dragon may return with a scarecrow balloon next year. Work on next year's Balloon Fiesta begins in September, he said. Balloon fans were delighted to see a dry, sunny forecast for the weekend, meaning plenty of ascents took place. But there wasn't just one show in town – a charity bike ride held in memory of a Bristol student finished in the city, and dozens of leather-clad bikers headed to the Bath Road for a talk.
