Influencer twist revealed in horror car crash that left newborn baby fighting for life

Daily Mail10-08-2025
An influential socialite has called on her thousands of followers to help her ex whose newborn baby remains in hospital following a near-fatal car crash.
Casey King, 25, and Ryan Heywood were on their way home in the Gold Coast on July 25 when their car was struck on the M1 at Bilinga.
Ms King was 38 weeks pregnant sitting in the backseat when a Mitsubishi Lancer driven by an 18-year-old P-plater collided with their vehicle from behind.
She was trapped in the car for nearly an hour before being rushed to hospital with a broken back where she also had to undergo an emergency C-section.
Baby Henry, who was treated for blood loss and brain bleeds, was born unresponsive and two weeks on remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition.
Mr Heywood was able to escape the wreckage with minor injuries and now his former partner, Ruby Tuesday Matthews, has called asked anyone who can to help him.
The Byron Bay socialite shared a link to a GoFundMe established by Alivia Nosti, the sister of Mr Heywood's current partner.
Ms Nosti is aiming to raise $65,000 to help the new parents support Henry as he continues to recover.
First-time parents Casey King, 25, and Ryan Heywood were hit from behind on their way home on the M1 at Bilinga in Queensland
Ms Matthews asked her tens of thousands of followers to help Ms King and her newborn in any way they could.
All money raised will go towards supporting the parents by 'allowing them to focus completely on Henry's recovery and their own healing', Ms Nosti wrote.
'Henry was born unresponsive and in a critical condition... He is now being closely monitored and treated [but] remains in a critical but stable condition.
'Casey and Ryan live over 1.5 hours away from the hospital and are spending all of their time by Henry's side.'
Ms Matthews and Mr Heywood were formerly committed in a serious relationship and now share two children, Rocket and Mars, together.
On Saturday, Ms Nosti thanked everyone who donated towards or shared the page with others after the total amount of money raised hit $50,000.
'I am completely lost for words. I never imagined this page would reach so many people, let alone that so many of you would want to help,' Ms Nostri said.
'These past few weeks have been the most heartbreaking and overwhelming time for my sister, her partner ryan, and my baby nephew Henry.'
The couple's car had been struck with such force that it was completely written off.
Police allege the driver was street racing with another P-plater at speeds of up to 180km/h when both vehicles lost control and hit the side rail.
Ms Nostri previously told Daily Mail Australia people need to be more careful on the roads.
'We want to send an important message about the dangers on our roads,' Ms Nosti told Daily Mail on Friday night.
'You might think it will never happen to you, but it only takes one reckless decision to change the lives of innocent people forever, just as it has changed ours.'
More than 1,329 people died on the country's roads in the year to June 30, with 5.3 per 100,000 having died in Queensland, according to data from the Australian Automobile Association.
The state is also battling a youth crime scourge, including a recent spike in Cairns in the state's far north.
In November last year, Cairns Police unleashed a week-long operation to disrupt, prevent and investigate youth crime which resulted in 54 minors being charged with 220 offences.

You can get Ford's best ever car for £1000 – here's why you need a Focus

Landmark hatchbacks – there have been a few - the most obvious, of course, being the Volkswagen Golf. It not only saved its maker from post-Beetle oblivion but emphatically confirmed the template for the breed after the 1964, Fiat-designed Autobianchi Primula and the 1967 Simca 1100 did the pioneering. But after the Mk1 Golf, what came next were emulators offering much the same recipe, if sometimes with added spice. The SX version of the Talbot Horizon came with a trip computer, an advance winning it the Car of the Year trophy and its buyers regular packets of wildly inaccurate data. The Renault 14 bodyshell's slightly banana-like curve inexplicably won it a place in New York's Museum of Modern Art, while the magnificent, robot-flaunting TV ad for the Fiat Strada was the best thing about this lazy 128 re-skin. There were many more, but what all had in common was that none was as convincing as the Golf. The most serious challengers were the 1978 Opel Kadett, a crisp design of revvy engines and nail-breaking switchgear later available as the Vauxhall Astra, and Ford's 1980 Escort, this the first front-drive version. A brilliantly product-planned, pretty car that was immensely more advanced than its history-lesson predecessor, this Escort was a massive hit and should have propelled Ford towards ever-greater heights despite a couple of ear- and bum-battering dynamic flaws. But subsequent iterations succumbed to the Blue Oval's cost-cutting ways, each more mediocre than the last, the barrel bottom crashingly struck with the Mk 4 Escort. This car was so short of interest that one of its launch presenters resorted to caressing the admittedly appealing hillocks of steel covering its tailgate hinges to highlight a rare item of sexy design. It was far too inconsequential to prevent this publication from delivering this car the slating it deserved. Suitably stung, Ford performed a major rework. The result was half-decent, this last Escort identifiable by a surfeit of oval motifs that the design department had become obsessed with. Ford was back to its just-good-enough ways, few thinking that it was about to perform a spectacular reset on the small family hatch, not just for Ford but the entire car industry. The first clues came with the extraordinary scoop images sneaked out of customer clinics. High-mounted, cornet-shaped tail-lights completely capped the rear pillars. Wide-spaced wheels occupied flamboyantly blistered wheel arches. Lozenge headlights flanked the slender mouth of an oval-jewelled grille. All these arresting features housed within a shapely six side-window body. Only Fiat's Bravo and Brava hatchbacks came close for outlandish originality, and the Ford Focus had both beaten. Ford called it New Edge design. Most called it startling.
