GA officer accused of stealing suspect's money, passport during traffic stop
A police officer was arrested after he stole a suspect's personal items during a traffic stop last month, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

On March 26, Lyons Police Chief Wesley Walker contacted the GBI to investigate a theft case involving one of his department's officers.
The investigation stemmed from a traffic stop that happened on March 22.
According to the GBI, 30-year-old Ofc. Dustin Matejcik, of Glennville, was asked to assist another Lyons officer with a traffic stop that led to an arrest.

The GBI said, the person being arrested asked that his personal items be given to his employer who was supposed to arrive at the scene to get them.
While the other officer was taking the suspect to jail, Matejcik was left alone at the scene, authorities said.
On March 25, the LPD was contacted about getting the items back. The GBI said the items were never found.
The investigation revealed no one arrived at the scene to get the money and the items that belonged to the person who was arrested, according to the GBI.
Matejcik never turned the money, passport, and keys into evidence after the suspect was arrested, officials said. The amount of money taken was not disclosed.

The GBI arrested Matejcik on Tuesday. He was charged with one count of violation of oath of office and one count of theft by taking.
Matejcik was booked into the Toombs County Detention Center.

Large police response at Vista Landing Apartments on the Westside
A large number of Jacksonville police officers responded to the Vista Landing Apartments on the Westside Wednesday night. Neighbors and sources tell Action News Jax that there was a shooting. Manhunt underway for GA man accused of ramming truck into patrol vehicle, leaving deputy injured
A suspect wanted for assault on a deputy remains at large, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] On Wednesday, around 3:30 a.m., a Habersham County deputy stopped a truck pulling a trailer near Juniper Trail in Toccoa. The GBI said the trailer had two flat tires. The truck stopped at the end of Juniper Trail. Officials said that as the deputy stepped out of his patrol car, the driver of the truck, Jonathan William Harris, 34, of Sautee, Ga., rammed into the patrol car, causing it to hit the deputy and knock him to the ground. The GBI said Harris got out of the truck, and that's when the deputy fired his gun and the 34-year-old ran away. The deputy sustained minor injuries and Harris's condition is unknown, the GBI said. Hall is charged with theft by receiving stolen property, obstruction of an officer, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was booked into the Habersham County Detention Center. Harris remains on the run. If you see him, do not approach. Instead, call 911 immediately. Harris is facing charges of possession of a firearm/knife during the commission of a crime, fleeing/eluding a police officer, aggravated assault upon a law enforcement officer, obstruction of an officer, and theft by receiving stolen property. The 34-year-old also has outstanding warrants for his arrest from an unrelated incident. According to the GBI, the truck and trailer had been reported stolen out of Hall County before the incident.
