Ten miles below the speed limit: that is what one driver told Kennesaw police drove him to pull a knife during a road rage incident in the Legacy Park community. David Buchanan about why 55-year-old Giancarlo Russo is accused of pulling a knife on his neighbors during a road rage incident. It happened in Kennesaw in the Legacy Park neighborhood. A husband and wife got to a stop sign to find the driver, Russo, behind them was outraged, when he blocked their car with his own. 'The offender pulled in front of them and blocked them, got out of his car, he was holding a knife and was threatening towards them,' Buchanan told Channel 2's Candace McCowan. 'He was trying to get the male driver out of the vehicle to instigate some type of altercation or fight. The victim stayed in the car, got away safely, and called us.' 'You shouldn't carry a knife when you have that kind of anger. Uncontrolled anger,' said neighbor Hannelore Ahearn. Russo is now charged with simple assault and aggravated assault. A man deputies said led them on a high-speed chase nearly two weeks ago was taken into custody. Authorities said Ware led officers on a high-speed chase on April 12. Somehow, Ware got away, leaving two Polk County police officers with critical injuries, officials said. Chandler sustained multiple severe injuries, including a broken left hip, a broken ball joint of the left femur, a displaced sternum, and separated tendons in his hand. GA officer accused of stealing suspect's money, passport during traffic stop

A police officer was arrested after he stole a suspect's personal items during a traffic stop last month, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] On March 26, Lyons Police Chief Wesley Walker contacted the GBI to investigate a theft case involving one of his department's officers. The investigation stemmed from a traffic stop that happened on March 22. According to the GBI, 30-year-old Ofc. Dustin Matejcik, of Glennville, was asked to assist another Lyons officer with a traffic stop that led to an arrest. While the other officer was taking the suspect to jail, Matejcik was left alone at the scene, authorities said. On March 25, the LPD was contacted about getting the items back. The GBI said the items were never found. The investigation revealed no one arrived at the scene to get the money and the items that belonged to the person who was arrested, according to the GBI. Matejcik never turned the money, passport, and keys into evidence after the suspect was arrested, officials said. The amount of money taken was not disclosed. Matejcik was booked into the Toombs County Detention Center.
