Odisha Minister Prithviraj Harichandan issues stern warning to YouTubers linked to espionage
Bhubaneswar [Odisha], May 19 (ANI): Odisha Minister Prithviraj Harichandan on Monday addressed the alleged link between YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra and YouTuber Priyanka Senapati, saying the government is firm against any illegal activity harming the state's interests.
'If somebody is involved in any illegal activity which hampers the interest of the state, the government is very firm in such cases. If somebody is spying for another country, or if anyone is supporting or helping them, they will also be taken on a proper task,' Harichandan said.
He added that those involved will be linked with the investigative process, and if any connection is found, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) will conduct a thorough probe.
'The investigation and prosecution process will be taken up properly. If any link is established, the matter will be taken very seriously and the situation will be handled accordingly,' the Minister said.
Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Nishikant Dubey also urged the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to investigate the foreign tours, advertisements and bank accounts of online influencers after Jyoti Malhotra was arrested for allegedly sharing sensitive information and being in continuous contact with a Pakistani citizen.
The BJP MP in a post on X said that the central agencies should investigate the activities of YouTubers, media influencers, Facebook journalists, and unemployed journalists in the last 5 years, whether they are also running an 'agenda' in connivance with some 'foreign powers'.
'Seeing the exploits of Jyoti Malhotra, who was caught spying for Pakistan, @NIA_India @dir_ed should investigate the foreign tours, advertisements, bank accounts, cars, and houses of such YouTubers, media influencers, Facebook journalists, and unemployed journalists in the last 5 years and whether they are also running an agenda in connivance with some foreign powers. In the last 3 years, Indians have earned 21 thousand crores from YouTube alone, @MIB_India @HMOIndia,' he said.
Jyoti Malhotra, a resident of Hisar, Haryana, was arrested for allegedly sharing sensitive information and being in continuous contact with a Pakistani citizen.
According to Shashank Kumar Sawan, Superintendent of Police (SP) Hisar, Malhotra was being developed as an asset and had maintained ties with other YouTube influencers and Pakistani nationals.
Sawan stated, 'She was in touch with other YouTube influencers, and they were also in contact with the Pakistan Information Officers (PIOs). She used to go to Pakistan, like, on sponsored trips. She was in Pakistan before the Pahalgam attack, and the investigation is ongoing to establish any possible linkages.'
Jyoti Malhotra was interrogated for allegedly passing information to the Pakistani side. She allegedly met a Pakistani officer, Ahsan-ur-Rahim, in Delhi, travelled to Pakistan twice, and shared sensitive information.
Hisar DSP Kamaljeet said that the police have taken the woman on a five-day remand. She has been booked under the Official Secrets Act and relevant sections of BNS.
The DSP said that police received 'some suspicious things' from her mobile and laptop.
'Yesterday, based on inputs that we had, we arrested Jyoti, daughter of Haris Kumar, under the Official Secret Act and BNS 152. We have received some suspicious things after we recovered her mobile and laptop. We have taken her on a five-day remand, and further investigation is on. She was in continuous contact with a Pakistani citizen,' Kamaljeet said.
During the preliminary investigation, the woman told the police that she went to the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi in 2023 to apply for a visa and met a man named Ahsan-ur-Rahim, alias Danish.
She also told the police that after exchanging numbers, she started talking to Ahsan-ur-Rahim and travelled twice to Pakistan. Officials said that the woman also told during the investigation that Ahsan-ur-Rahim arranged for her stay and travel and arranged meetings with Pakistani security and intelligence agencies. (ANI)

CM to inaugurate king Suheldev's memorial in Bahraich on June 10
1 2 Bahraich: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is scheduled to inaugurate a grand memorial of Maharaja Suheldev – a revered historical figure known for his valour and commitment to protecting the dignity of Hindu culture – during his visit to Bahraich on Tuesday (June 10). Confirming the development, BJP MLC and state vice-president Padmasen Chaudhary said that Maharaja Suheldev, hailed as the 'Hindu Hriday Samrat' (ruler of Hindu hearts), had defeated Sayyid Salar Masud Ghazi, the general of foreign invader Mahmud of Ghazni. "Despite his heroism, Maharaja Suheldev's contributions were long forgotten in the pages of history. To immortalize his legacy of sacrifice and bravery, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has decided to establish a magnificent memorial near Chittaura, in Bahraich district," he said, thanking the CM on behalf of the people of Bahraich. "I had invited the CM for the inauguration, and despite his busy schedule, he graciously accepted the invitation to attend the event on June 10," he said. Chaudhary said that the district administration under DM Monika Rani was making preparations to ensure the success of the programme. Chaudhary urged people to participate in the programme in large numbers and help in placing Bahraich at the forefront of the state's cultural map.

Controlled blasts by pvt co trigger panic in Bahraich
Lucknow: Controlled explosions by a private company in agricultural fields for a seismic survey triggered panic in parts of Mahsi tehsil in Bahraich on Saturday. The blasts were allegedly carried out without informing the local administration, police, or elected representatives. The operation, linked to Mission Anveshan, a govt of India project to identify hydrocarbon potential in onshore sedimentary basins, was being carried out by Hyderabad-based Alpha Geo India Ltd. The firm is tasked with conducting 2D seismic surveys across seven basins under the directive of ministry of petroleum. However, villagers panicked when they saw cables being laid and blast preparations underway. BJP MLA from Mahsi, Sureshwar Singh, rushed to the site and confronted officials. "This is a serious breach of protocol. Explosives were being used just two days before the Chief Minister's scheduled visit to the district, without a word to the DM, SP, or even gram pradhans. I've spoken to home secretary Sanjay Prasad and urged that the CM's visit be deferred until a thorough inquiry is completed," he said. Bahraich ADM Gaurav Ranjan confirmed that the local administration was not informed. An engineer of the company claimed they obtained permission from the district collector in Feb. ASP, Bahraich, DP Tiwari said a probe was being conducted.

9-year-old girl's body found in suitcase in north-east Delhi; residents protest, parties clash
A nine-year-old girl was killed after allegedly being sexually assaulted, and stuffed in a suitcase on Saturday in north-east Delhi's Nehru Vihar, said police on Sunday. The accused fled the area after the incident and the police have formed six teams to nab him. The police arrived at the spot at 8.40 p.m. A case has been registered at the Dayalpur police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 6 (punishment for aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. During Id-ul-Azha celebrations, the girl was asked to fetch ice from her grandmother, who lives in the same area. When she did not return home for a long time, her parents began searching for her. 'We started looking for her everywhere. Even an announcement from the masjid was made,' said the victim's mother, who was inconsolable. She was found in an unconscious state in a nearby flat. 'I found it unusual for a suitcase to lie on the floor. I immediately opened it and saw my daughter inside,' said the victim's father. The girl was rushed to a hospital where doctors informed the police and the family members that she was brought dead. 'The doctors informed that the victim was brought dead. They observed injuries on her face and indicated possible sexual assault,' said DCP (North East) Ashish Mishra. 'We have formed six teams and raids are being conducted to nab the accused,' said an officer. The Forensic Sciences Laboratory teams were called to inspect the crime scene. The incident sparked a protest by locals. On Sunday, a big crowd gathered at the victim's house. The protesters raised slogans against the police, alleging 'negligence', and demanded immediate arrest of the culprit. 'We want capital punishment for the accused,' Imran Khan, a local, said, adding that the police must arrest the accused at the earliest. Police and paramilitary forces were deployed in the area to maintain law and order. 'Political cunningness' Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) traded barbs, with Opposition party's national convener Arvind Kejriwal stating that the Union Home Minister Amit Shah, to whom the Delhi police report, should be held responsible for the incident. Mr. Kejriwal also alleged that 'our daughters are not safe under the BJP government'. Hitting back at AAP, Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva said, 'To reduce these incidents to mere law and order issues is political cunningness.' (With inputs from PTI)
