Doncaster Rovers defender Richard Wood has announced his retirement after winning promotion for the fifth time in his career.
The 39-year-old made eight appearances as Rovers won the League Two title, the last against AFC Wimbledon on 12 April.
Wood began his career at Sheffield Wednesday, where he played 174 league games, and later had a nine-year spell with Rotherham United before moving on to Doncaster in the summer of 2023.

"You must listen to your body and say stop at the right time," he said in a message on the club website.
"I like to think I have been honest throughout my career. Honest about my limitations as a player and with every teammate and coach I have encountered along the way.
"As much as it breaks my heart, I have had to take that same approach with this decision. Defying the odds and pushing these old bones through pre-season after pre-season is a challenge which I have relished but deep down I know it's time to leave that to the next generation – yes, and the one below that."
Wood won his first promotion with Sheffield Wednesday in 2005 and went up three times from League One during his time at Rotherham, during which they also won the EFL Trophy in 2022.

One of his most memorable games came in 2018, scoring both goals, including an extra-time winner, as they beat Shrewsbury Town 2-1 in a play-off final at Wembley.
"It has been a fairytale. I'm lost for the words to explain how privileged I feel to have enjoyed the career that I have," he added.
"667 appearances for eight different clubs – no wonder I'm creaking! – and five promotions is a CV I could never have dreamed of writing as a fresh-faced 17yr old making my debut for Sheffield Wednesday back in 2003."
Meanwhile, Doncaster have announced that Tom Anderson, Bobby Faulkner, Ian Lawlor, Joseph Olowu and Billy Sharp are in contract discussions with the club.

Watch: Arkansas' Gage Wood throws first College World Series no-hitter in 65 years
June 17 (UPI) -- Gage Wood said he had one thing on his mind after tossing a strike for the final out of a historic College World Series no-hitter, which led Arkansas past Murray State and extended his season: "We're not going home." Wood secured just the third no-hitter in the history of the College Baseball World Series to lead the Razorbacks past the Murray State Racers on Monday at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha. The Razorbacks, who lost to LSU on Saturday, needed a win to stay in contention in the double-elimination tournament. Advertisement Wood fired 119 pitches, including 83 strikes, en route to the first College Baseball World Series no-hitter since Jim Wixson threw one for Oklahoma State in 1960. Wood logged 19 strikeouts -- a record for a nine-inning Men's College World Series game. He ended the 3-0 victory with five-consecutive punch-outs and retired the final batter with a 97-mph fastball. "The only special thing was -- I didn't want to go home," Wood, who mixed in fastballs, cutters, curveballs and changeups for the historic effort, told reporters. "That's it." Wood mostly leaned on his fastball and curveball to retire the Racers with strikeouts, fly outs and grounders early on. He then went on a seven-consecutive strikeouts from the third through fifth innings. Advertisement Outfielder Charles Davalan gave the Razorbacks a 1-0 lead with an RBI single in the third. The Razorbacks added two more runs in the seventh, including one off a double from shortstop Wehiwa Aloy. Wood lost his perfect game bid when he hit Racers second baseman Dominic Decker with a pitch to start the eighth. First baseman Luke Mistone fouled out in the next exchange. Wood then retired the final five Racers batters with strikeouts. "I shouldn't have hit that guy," Wood said. "That's it, that's all I've got to say." Texas' Jim Ehrler threw the first no-hitter in College Baseball World Series in a 1960 win over Tufts. Wixson's 1960 no-no came in a win over North Carolina. Advertisement "We're not going home," Wood said. "We get to play [Tuesday] night. But it was pretty cool." The Razorbacks will look to avoid elimination again when they face LSU or UCLA at 7 p.m. EDT Tuesday in Omaha. LSU and UCLA are set to face off at 11 a.m. Tuesday in a resumption of their matchup from Monday, which was suspended because of rain and lightning. LSU led 5-3 through three innings. Wood said he did not expect to be available to return to the mound until the weekend.

Arkansas vs Murray State highlights: Gage Wood throws no-hitter in College World Series
Arkansas vs Murray State highlights: Gage Wood throws no-hitter in College World Series Show Caption Hide Caption Arkansas' Gage Wood throws historic no-hitter in College World Series Arkansas' Gage Wood tosses the third no-hitter in Men's College World Series history as Arkansas tops Murray State. NCAA Out of 119 pitches, Arkansas' Gage Wood would only take one back. The Razorbacks' right-hander went seven innings without allowing a baserunner against Murray State on June 16, with the perfect game bid ultimately being broken up when Wood hit Dom Decker with a curveball that skipped off the top of Decker's foot in a 2-2 count. It wasn't a bad pitch. It was just the wrong one. Ultimately, Wood still made history. He threw the first College World Series no-hitter since 1960 and struck out a ridiculous 19 Racer hitters, all while living in the mid-to-high 90s for Arkansas. The gem was needed. Arkansas' potent offense was held in check by Isaac Silva, who allowed just one run and fanned seven of his own in six innings. Graham Kelham allowed two runs, resulting in a 3-0 win for Arkansas. The College World Series has seen the likes of Paul Skenes, Kumar Rocker, and Gerrit Cole. None of them managed to make lineups look as overmatched as Wood made Murray State look throughout the day. Ultimately, the result is that Arkansas lives to fight another day in the College World Series. But in the long run, Wood's performance is going to be remembered in the annals of College World Series history no matter how far Dave Van Horn's program goes this season. Arkansas will now play the loser of UCLA-LSU on June 17, as it looks for the first title in program history. USA TODAY Sports followed the game live. Catch up on Wood's historic performance below. Following his no-hitter, when he was asked how he was feeling, his response was succinct: "I shouldn't have hit that guy. That's all I have to say." The mind of a pitcher remains a scary place. Wood completes a no-hitter in a 19-strikeout performance to give Arkansas a 3-0 win over Murray State in the CWS elimination game. Wood loses his perfect game, but strikes out two more hitters in the eighth inning and has 16 now. However, Isaac Silva retired Wehiwa Aloy, Logan Maxwell and Ryder Helfrick to escape the inning. Silva struck out Helfrick to end the inning.
