
Egypt Makes Second Rate Cut in a Row Before Summer of Reforms
Egypt cut interest rates for the second time in as many months, seeking to boost economic growth before a likely fresh round of fiscal reforms this summer spurs renewed caution.
The central bank reduced the benchmark deposit rate by 100 basis points to 24%, the Monetary Policy Committee said Thursday in a statement. The lending rate was lowered by the same amount to 25%.

Egypt has indicated that it plans to in the coming week finalize some purchases of liquefied natural gas for delivery over the next few years, as the country deepens its dependence on imports. The government is in the final process to strike deals with as many as six companies — including Saudi Aramco, Trafigura Group and Vitol Group — to buy cargoes through June 2026, according to people with knowledge of the matter who asked not to be identified. It could buy more than 160 shipments for that period, the people said.

Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia President Patrick Harker said the US economy remains resilient and officials should maintain a wait-and-see approach until there is more clarity about how tariffs and other policies will affect the outlook. 'Even in a time of uncertainty, we remain as certain and deliberate as ever in our approach,' Harker said Thursday in prepared remarks for an event at the Philadelphia Fed. He added that's why he's supportive of recent decisions to 'keep the Fed's policy interest rate steady.'

DAZN, TNT Sports announce Club World Cup broadcasting team
DAZN and TNT Sports have announced their U.S. broadcasting team for the upcoming Club World Cup. Alex Scott, Lauren Jbara and Katie Witham will be hosts in the studio, with color commentators Brian Dunseth, Steve McManaman and Brad Guzan joining play-by-play voices Luke Wileman, Tony Husband, Andres Cantor and Kevin Egan.
