How did Charlie Woods fare in first round of Team TaylorMade Invitational?
Charlie Woods is just three shots off the lead after the first round of the Team TaylorMade Invitational on Monday.

Woods shot 70 (2-under) and is tied for fourteenth in a field of 72 players in the invitational-only event at the Streamsong Resort's Black Course in Bowling Green, Florida.
Woods, a rising junior at the Benjamin School and the son of legendary golfer Tiger Woods, came out ahead in a wild round that featured an eagle, eight birdies, five bogeys, a triple bogey and just three pars, all on par 3s.
Tyler Watts (Huntsville, Alabama) and Luke Colton (Frisco, Texas) lead the tournament after shooting 67 (5-under). Watts and Colton are both ranked in the AJGA Top 10 for junior boys golf. Woods entered the tournament ranked No. 604.
Woods opened the day with a birdie but stumbled on the next two holes with a bogey and triple bogey. Woods clawed back to even-par at the turn with four birdies and a bogey over the next six holes.

After opening the back nine with consecutive bogeys, Woods then returned to even-par with an eagle on the par-5 No. 12 and went on a run with birdies on three of his next four holes.
A bogey on the par-5 No. 18 knocked him out of the top 10 after the first round.
Second round tee times will begin off the No. 1 tee from 7:33 to 11:23 a.m. Tuesday. The event's final round is scheduled for Wednesday.

Palm Beach County golfers at the Team TaylorMade Invitational
Former Benjamin golf teammate Pavel Tsar, a Notre Dame signee, is also tied for 14th after shooting 70 (2-under). Tsar managed a calm bogey-free round with 16 pars, two birdies and no bogeys.

Royal Palm Beach's Giuseppe Puebla is tied for 30th after shooting even-par 72. He managed four birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey.
Brooks Colton, another Benjamin standout, is tied for 67th with after shooting 77 (5-over). He started the day with a birdie but managed no better than par and six bogeys the rest of the way.
What is the Team TaylorMade Invitational?
The Team TaylorMade Invitational hosted its first tournament in 2021.
The 2022 event was hosted at the Jupiter Hills Club in Tequesta and the 2023 event was hosted at The Country Club at Mirasol in Palm Beach Gardens.

Miles Russell of Jacksonville Beach eliminated by Luke Colton in U.S. Junior Am quarterfinals
Miles Russell had a nice run in the Texas heat. But it ended in a battle of national junior heavyweights on July 25 when the Jacksonville Beach resident lost to Luke Colton of Frisco, Texas, 4 and 3 in the quarterfinals of the U.S. Junior Amateur at the Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas. Russell is first on the American Junior Golf Association rankings and 18th on the World Amateur Golf Rankings, and Colton is third on the AJGA and 26th on the WAGR. Both are verbally committed to play for college golf powers, Russell to Florida State in 2027 and Colton to Vanderbilt in 2026. Junior Players defending wins Junior Am title Hamilton Coleman of Augusta, Ga., defeated Nguyen Anh Minh of Vietnam 2 and 1 in the 36-hole championship match on July 26. Coleman led 4-up through 25 holes before Minh cut into the lead when he birdied two par-3 holes and a par-4 and was 1-down with seven holes left. They halved four holes in a row before Coleman closed out the match with his second birdie of the day on the short par-3 17th hole Coleman, who won the 2024 Junior Players in sudden death over Blades Brown, beat Colton 5 and 4 in one semifinal, while Minh topped Qiyou Wu of China 4 and 3 in the other. Miles Russell fell behind, tied the match twice Russell, who never trailed in two matches on July 24 to reach the quarterfinals, was two holes down to Colton through three holes, but battled back to square the match with birdies at Nos. 5 and 6. Colton birdied the seventh hole to regain the lead but Russell squared the match again with a par at the 11th hole. Colton then went on a hot streak, winning three of his last four holes on birdies. Miles Russell won three matches to reach the quarters Russell tied for eighth in the stroke-play qualifying, won his opening match in 20 holes over Jack Ormond, then beat Lucas Latimer 3 and 2 and Miguel Garcia 4 and 2. Russel told that Colton put the pressure on early. 'Really, [I was] just trying to make birdies because that's all he was doing," said Russell. "He was making … a lot of putts. It's hard to beat somebody when they make a bunch of putts. That means you have to make just as many and more." Russell said he will take positives from the experience. "It was a great week," he said. "I hit a lot of good golf shots and hit a lot of bad ones, but kind of only remember the good ones now." Tyler Mawhinney of Fleming Island got to the round of 16 with two victories, then fell to Rohan Patel 1-up. Patel lost to defending Junior Players champion Hamilton Coleman in another quarterfinal match and played Colton in the semifinals late on Friday. Miles Russell, Tyler Mawhinney have two big summer events left Russell and Mawhinney will now look to the U.S. Amateur Aug. 11-17 at the Olympic Club in San Francisco, where both are exempt into the field of 312. PFSN praises Falcons linebacker for 'outstanding' performance
Veteran linebacker Josh Woods was recognized for his play in Atlanta's preseason opener vs. Detroit. Last week's preseason opener between the Atlanta Falcons and the Detroit Lions was a physical matchup that ended prematurely following an injury scare. The Falcons lost the game but had to be pleased with the way their defense performed in the first half. Linebacker Josh Woods led the team in tackles and was constantly around the ball making plays. He forced one of Atlanta's two forced fumbles against the Lions, and was one of four players to earn an elite Pro Football Focus grade (92.1) for his performance. While the Falcons didn't play their full starting defense in the opener, several key players, including David Onyemata, Jalon Walker and James Pearce Jr., played in the first half. Woods' big outing earned him a spot on Pro Football Sports Network's list of outstanding players from Week 1 of the preseason. Lake Day: Preston Stout reels in U.S. Amateur medal at Olympic
SAN FRANCISCO – If Preston Stout had a choice, he would've spent more time at the lake this summer. As a junior, it wasn't uncommon for the Richardson, Texas, native to skip tournaments, including the premier AJGA invitationals, to fish or hunt. Even now, he winters at his family's property, a few hundred acres of land inside the Tishomingo National Wildlife Refuge in southern Oklahoma. 'That's my therapy,' Stout says. 'For other people, it might be something else, but for me, it's hunting and fishing.' Right now, though, Stout has just been playing too, dang well to take much time off. And yet, he still made it the lake on Tuesday – the Olympic Club's Lake Course, that is. The rising Oklahoma State junior's hot stretch continued with a 4-under 66 in cool, breezy conditions to solidify U.S. Amateur medalist honors. Paired with Texas senior Tommy Morrison, who finished stroke play at 6 under and two shots back of Stout's 8 under, Stout turned it on late with four birdies in his last six holes as he left Morrison and the rest of the field in his wake. 'You always want to win, right?' said Stout, who will have the top seed for the Round of 64, which begins Wednesday. 'Especially the last few holes, me and Tommy were pretty close, and I'm pretty competitive, so I wanted to beat him.' Stout, Oklahoma State's first medalist at this championship since Hayden Wood in 2017, has Cowboys head coach Alan Bratton on the bag. Bratton is trying to become the first caddie to loop for three U.S. Amateur champions after caddying for Peter Uihlein (2010) and Viktor Hovland (2018); two other recent caddies with two U.S. Amateur winners are Jay Brunza (Tiger Woods twice) and Devin Stanton (Andy Ogletree and Tyler Strafaci). If he wins Sunday, Stout would be the sixth U.S. Amateur champion from Oklahoma State and also the sixth medalist to claim the Havemeyer Trophy, joining names such as Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, and the most recent to do so, Ryan Moore, in 2004. But as Bratton and Stout both noted: 'The tournament starts over tomorrow.' If anyone can break the drought for the medalists, however, it's the red-hot Stout. Stout's scorching summer began with a ton of momentum from his junior season, where he garnered first-team All-America honors, won a second straight Big 12 individual title and led the Cowboys to another NCAA Championship. His stellar play earned him an Arnold Palmer Cup berth, and he also won the Northeast Amateur before the calendar turned to July. He then debuted on the PGA Tour at the 3M Open, missing the cut by just one, before tying for 23rd at the Western Amateur, a few out of match play there. And then he's already on the 10-man U.S. Walker Cup team that will compete at Cypress Point next month. 'I didn't want to play that much this summer, and then it kind of just happened,' said Stout, up to fourth in the World Amateur Golf Ranking. 'But it's sharpened my game, and I'm playing nicely.' Stout doesn't know his opponent for the first round of match play yet – that will likely be decided after a playoff on Wednesday morning. But he will be joined by plenty of big names in the knockout stage, including five other top-10 amateurs in the world – Morrison, No. 1 Jackson Koivun (T-8), No. 2 Ben James, No. 7 Jase Summy, and No. 9 Christiaan Maas. A sixth, No. 5 Filip Jakubcik, is in the playoff at 3 over to fill out the bracket.
