Congress and BRS share a protection bond: Bandi Sanjay Kumar

The Hindua day ago
Accusing the BRS and Congress of shielding each other's 'corruption' and 'acts of deception', Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar has alleged that the two parties are having a mutual understanding to defend each other from 'wrong-doings' as part of a 'protection bond.'
He was speaking to mediapersons in Karimnagar after participating in Raksha Bandhan festivities on Saturday.
Mr. Sanjay reiterated his demand for a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) into the phone tapping during the previous BRS rule, saying the scope of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) currently probing the case is very limited.
The phone tapping was done under the K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) government in violation of the regulations of the Telecom Regulatory Authority, he said, saying, 'This is entirely a matter under the jurisdiction of the Centre.
The accused extorted hundreds of crores of rupees from political leaders, businessmen and film actors through phone tapping, he charged. Where did that money go? he asked, saying finding an answer to that is beyond the capacity of SIT officials.
Responding to a query, he said, 'We do have trust in the SIT officials. But we have no trust in the Congress government. In cases like irregularities in Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme, power purchase agreements and the Formula E Race, and other scams surfaced during the previous BRS rule, the current Congress dispensation in the State is only delaying under the pretext of investigation without taking any action.'
He further alleged that the phones of several politicians including the present Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy were also tapped by the previous BRS government. Can the SIT issue a notice to the Chief Minister and summon him for questioning? Mr Sanjay asked.
It is imperative to hand over the phone tapping case to the central investigative agencies to complete the investigation quickly without delays, he insisted.
Replying to a question, he said, 'The phones of the ministers, MLAs and MLCs were tapped. If BRS MLAs have any self-respect, they should leave that party.'
'BRS MLC Kalvakunta Kavitha should be served notices and questioned in the phone tapping case,' he said in reply to another query.
On BRS working president K T Rama Rao (KTR)'s reported statement to issue a legal notice to him, Mr Sanjay said, 'I am ready to swear before God on phone tapping. Will KTR be ready to accept my challenge?'

Govt to brief Tharoor-led panel today on ties with US

Shashi Tharoor NEW DELHI: The standing committee on external affairs, headed by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor , will be briefed on the latest developments in India's foreign policy on Monday, official sources said. The panel will be briefed by representatives of the ministry of external affairs and the ministry of commerce & industry on the developments in India's foreign policy with special reference to US-India trade negotiations and tariffs, they said. The MEA told the parliamentary panel ahead of the meeting that the US decision to impose secondary sanctions on India had forced it into a geopolitical contest not of its making. Despite the erosion of trust, it said India remained committed to engaging constructively with the US. Earlier this week, on Friday, while responding to the 50% tariffs on India imposed by the US, the Congress MP had said India must also safeguard its interests. "What is happening is concerning. A country with which we had close relations, and we were working as strategic partners. If that country has changed its behaviour, then India will have to think about many things... Perhaps in the coming two to three weeks, we can hold talks and find a way out. India will also have to look after its own interests," Tharoor said.

Give proof of vote fraud: 3 state CEOs to Rahul

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi 's "vote chori" allegations drew reminder notices Sunday from the chief electoral officers of three states, with Haryana and Maharashtra seeking affidavits under oath, and Karnataka asking for documents in a specific case involving a woman who publicly disputed his claim that she voted twice in 2024 LS olls. "On inquiry, Shakun Rani (the voter in question from Mahadevapura) stated that she has voted only once and not twice, as alleged by you...," Karnataka CEO V Anbukkumar said in his second letter to Rahul. Pressure mounts on Rahul to file vote affidavit Preliminary inquiry conducted by this office also reveals that the tick-marked document shown by you in the presentation is not a document issued by the polling officer," Karnataka CEO V Anbukkumar said in his second letter in four days to Rahul Gandhi. EC sources said "tick marks" against Shakun Rani's name on separate lists flagged by Rahul as "EC data" appeared fabricated, based on information in Form 17A maintained and retained by the respective polling officers. Access to Form 17A is limited to authorised EC officials and these are not shared with political parties. Polling agents of parties get polling records in Form 17C, which do not contain photographs. Form 17A is only produced if a court seeks it. Maharashtra's chief electoral officer S Chockalingam, who first wrote to Lok Sabha LoP on Aug 7, sent a reminder to submit his "declaration/oath" within 10 days so that proceedings could be initiated. In his first letter, the bureaucrat mentioned the dates on which the draft and final rolls had been shared with Congress, also pointing out that the party never filed first appeals with the district magistrates or second appeals with the election office. The letter specified that election results could only be contested in a high court. "You are kindly requested to sign and return the enclosed Declaration/Oath under rule 20(3) (B) of the Registration of Electoral Rules 1960 with the names of such electors," it said. In an identical notice, Haryana CEO A Sreenivas gave Rahul 10 days to submit an affidavit under oath specifying his allegations about vote fraud along with supporting documents. A day after the presser, Sreenivas said his office had shared copies of electoral rolls with representatives of Congress during the meetings ahead of elections. The CEO said if the party doubted the fairness of the process, it would need to challenge the voting results in Punjab and Haryana HC and provide details of the "claims and objections made before officials". The first letter from Sreenivas to Rahul was sent on Saturday. Sources said flashing a "forged document" at a presser could spell legal consequences for Rahul, including an FIR for violation of Section 337 of BNS, which stipulates a jail term of up to seven years.

Rahul, oppn parties acting as tools of foreign powers: BJP

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi NEW DELHI: BJP on Saturday accused Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and other opposition parties of being part of a conspiracy by anti-India forces abroad to weaken the country by defaming its armed forces and institutions. "Rahul Gandhi, Congress, and INDIA alliance parties are acting as tools of foreign powers," BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi told reporters. Speaking a day after IAF chief A P Singh shared photographs and video footage to assert that India had downed six Pakistani planes and damaged a few others on the ground, Trivedi said that Rahul, who had consistently lied about Operation Sindoor , had slipped into intriguing silence since armed forces presented the facts to the public. "The people who have often projected invaders as heroes are questioning the bravery of our armed forces during Operation Sindoor," said the Rajya Sabha MP. He said the evidence shared by the IAF chief had exposed Congress's lies. Trivedi said the leader of opposition had repeatedly been caught lying in court and to the public, making false claims about el ec tions and voter lists. "Today, EC has once again exposed one of his false claims about vote fraud by asking him to back his claims by swearing by them on affidavit," he said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Here's The Price of a 1-Day Walk-in Shower In 2025 Homebuddy Learn More Undo "Rahul Gandhi, the 'perpetual youth' of Indian politics and a leader who only speaks nonsense, has degraded the post of leader of opposition. He has been continuously demeaning all constitutional institutions. Now he is trying to vent his frustration of losing power by making unnecessary, baseless, and false allegations against EC," he added. Trivedi dismissed Rahul's allegation that 1 lakh fraudulent voters took part in the general elections to Bangalore Central seat, asking, "Where did he get the number '1 lakh' if EC didn't provide the data?" The spokesperson also claimed Rahul had appealed to foreign powers to interfere in India's democracy.
