David Brooks to become a dad for first time just four years after Bournemouth and Wales star beat cancer

DAVID BROOKS feels "lucky" he will become a dad - fearing it would never happen after his cancer diagnosis.
The Bournemouth winger's wife Flora revealed last weekend she is pregnant, with the pair expecting their first baby in November.

Brooks revealed the possibility of parent life was in doubt when he battled stage 2 Hodgkin lymphoma in October 2021.
The 27-year-old said: "When I was diagnosed, I had those conversations and there was never any guarantees that I would be able to have children in the future.
"There was a chance that it wouldn't have been possible. I was really lucky that it's happened naturally.
"After the treatment, everything has gone back to normal. I'm really happy.
"I always wanted to start a family. My wife and I always wanted kids at some point.
'My situation took it out of my hands, so it's very nice that everything has happened naturally and progressed into being a family.
"I'm really looking forward to it and I know my wife is, even though she's the pregnant one and going through all that.
"I'm delighted - there were a few tears and now we're really looking forward to it. We're still a few months away - but I can't wait."
Before Brooks has to contend with nappies and sleepless nights, the Cherries attacker aims to extend Craig Bellamy's unbeaten start to life as Wales boss.
The Dragons have now gone eight matches without defeat and expect to make that nine at home to Liechtenstein in Cardiff tomorrow.

But then Wales face a tough trip to Group J favourites Belgium on Monday night.
Brooks ensured Bellamy has not tasted a loss yet with a 96th-minute equaliser in North Macedonia in March.
He added: "It instills a bit of fear into who we are playing because other teams know we aren't going to give up. It's a massive positive.
"It gives us confidence and makes the opposition wary."
Brooks made 33 appearances for Bournemouth across all competitions last season - but that included just 12 starts.
The wideman said: "It's always a bit frustrating. I had a good patch of starting games and I thought I was playing well.
'I've been out a long time and that was the reason I went out on loan to Southampton last year.
'But I don't want to get to the end of my career and have half of my appearances on the bench.
"I'm always looking to play more games and looking to make the best impact at club level when I get the opportunity.
"I'm in good fitness and form and confident I can make a difference over the next two Wales games."

Ryan Lochte breaks silence on divorce from Playboy wife Kayla with emotional message

US Olympic icon Ryan Lochte has spoken out on Instagram over the influx of support he has received after it emerged he is getting divorced from his wife, Kayla Reid. The couple announced the news on Wednesday and speaking on social media, the 12-time Olympic medalist said it was 'rough' going public with the split. 'I just want to say thank you to everyone that wrote a message, reached out to me — just open arms,' he said in an Instagram video. 'It means a lot to me. Yesterday was a rough day for me, but, like always in life, you've got to put one foot in front of the other and keep moving forward, so, that's what I'm doing.' The 40-year-old Lochte said he had been sent gifts by his 'second family', such as candy and a card. 'Thank you guys, I love you guys,' he added. The couple have three kids together. Kayla announced the split on June 4, saying: 'I hold marriage in the highest regard, so this has been one of the most painful, revealing, and challenging seasons of my life. 'I've been hesitant to share until I could do so from a place of healing - not from fresh, open wounds.' 'Sometimes we face trials we didn't choose or see coming. And in those moments, we're forced to make the hardest decisions to protect our peace, our children, and our future. 'I've come to the understanding that staying isn't always the most loving decision someone can make. For me, leaving was an act of love - for those around me and for myself.' The couple shares son Caiden, 7, daughter Liv, 5 and nearly two-year-old daughter Georgia. According to court records cited by People, Kayla filed for divorce on March 26. Lochte shared a statement himself, saying: 'I want to take a moment to acknowledge what Kayla shared. This past year has brought major changes for both of us as we've come to the difficult decision to end our marriage. 'I'm deeply grateful for the life we've built together and especially for the love we share for our three children. 'Although this decision hasn't been easy, I believe it's the right step toward peace and well-being for us both. I remain committed to healing, growth, and co-parenting with care and respect as we move forward separately.' The couple met in 2016 before getting engaged that same year in the fall. Lochte was also thrust into controversy during the 2016 Rio Games, after he claimed that he and three teammates were robbed at gunpoint after a night out. It was later revealed that the armed men were actually security guards and several details of Lochte's story proved to be fabricated. He was ultimately charged with submitting a false report to police, but charges were later dismissed after he apologized.

Craig Bellamy promises Wales will not sit back and defend against Belgium

Wales coasted to a 3-0 win over Liechtenstein, the world's 205th ranked team, as second-half goals from Harry Wilson and Kieffer Moore added to Joe Rodon's 39th-minute opener. It was defender Rodon's first international goal and Wales had complete domination of a one-sided contest with 27 goal attempts to zero. Hapus iawn 😁 — Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 (@Cymru) June 6, 2025 Wales face a far tougher challenge in Brussels, although the Dragons did have the bonus of Belgium being held 1-1 in North Macedonia on Friday night, thanks to a late home equaliser. Bellamy said: 'We go there and I'm not camping. I'm not sitting back. It's not in my make-up. I can't do it, I don't want to do it. 'I've got a little bit more in my head, but I'm really excited about it. I'll try and absorb this one but then, yeah, get ready for that.' Victory took Wales to the top of their World Cup qualifying section with seven points from three games – but Bellamy could not resist a dig at the Welsh ball boys on the perimeter of the pitch. 'There is a lot I liked,' said Bellamy. 'I'd really like us to make this six, seven, eight. That's what we need to push. 'These games have never been easy four our nation. We have a proven record of that. 'The mentality of the players was really good. Did we expect to win? Of course we did. Did we expect such a slow game? 'I felt our ball boys could have been a bit quicker. We are at home so we have a choice in that as well. 'I'm going to be looking for them in a bit – I'm not. I'm joking!' Victory came at a price as Neco Williams, one of Wales' best performers since Bellamy took charge last summer, was forced off midway through the first half with a nasty-looking injury. The Nottingham Forest full-back, in trying to cross on the byline midway through the first half, landed awkwardly and was in obvious pain before leaving the field on a stretcher. Williams appears a serious doubt for Monday's clash with Belgium. 'Give us a few hours,' said Bellamy. 'We just don't know. We'll find out tomorrow morning (Saturday). 'The medical staff will be racing with it, we'll make sure he's looked after. 'We'll find more and relay that message as soon as we know.'
