We learned back in Episode 1 that veteran LAPD detective Mark Meachum (played by Jensen Ackles) had been diagnosed nine months prior with glioblastoma multiforme, a highly aggressive and malignant type of brain tumor.
Last week, DEA agent Amber Oliveras (Jessica Camacho) called out Meachum on his 'junkie'-like behavior, what with all the squinting, forehead-clutching, and taking 20 minutes to descend a stairwell. That teed up a heart-to-heart between the Hurricane Task Force partners, during which Mark confided some of his situation, framing it as 'migraines.' Amber in turn hooked Mark up with prescription pain killers.
MARK'S CONFESSION STUNS AMBER
In this week's Episode 7, Amber visited Mark at home and, over beers, proffered a vial of new meds that 'disrupt serotonin receptors.' Mark, though, cut her off to plainly state, 'I have a tumor.'
'What…?' a stunned Amber responded. 'Is it treatable?
'Nope.'
'How long…?' she asked of his prognosis.
'Uh, six weeks, six months… doc's not sure,' he shrugged.
'But I'll tell you this,' Mark added upon clocking his partner's concern. 'I'm not going out staring at the sunset on the beach. If I'm going out, I'm going out saving something — this city, these people. If I get that chance, that's what I'll do.'
WILL THE (TRAGIC) TRUTH BRING AMBER AND MARK CLOSER?
In the meantime, how will Mark's sharing of his terminal fate change things between him and Amber? The two started out at (playful) loggerheads when the task force was first formed, but they have grown closer in recent weeks.
In the TVLine video above, Camacho offers, 'The fact that Meachum decides to confide in [Oliveras] means a lot to her.'
The sharing of such personal information 'really takes her by surprise, it takes her aback,' the actress notes, 'and I don't think that's something that she takes lightly. Him letting her into his world in that way deepens her desire to show up for him as his partner, as a human… as someone who begins to really, deeply care for this person.'
That in turn 'takes their journey' as partners, and maybe more, 'to an interesting and complicated place,' Camacho teases.
Or as castmate Violett Beane, sitting beside Camacho in the video, puts it: 'You'll have to watch to find out!'

The president's love for the "Sydney Sweeney has great jeans" campaign kicked off a fresh surge in the stock on Monday, with shares rising as much as 24%. The company's campaign featuring the famous actor sparked controversy online — some claimed that it promoted eugenics while others accused it of being overly sexual in nature — but Trump made it clear he's a big fan. "The jeans are 'flying off the shelves.' Go get 'em Sydney!" he wrote on Truth Social before calling out other companies for "woke" advertising. Trump cited examples of companies such as Jaguar and Bud Lite that created ad campaigns that were met with backlash from some consumers. "The market cap destruction has been unprecedented, with BILLIONS OF DOLLARS SO FOOLISHLY LOST," Trump wrote. It's the latest leg of a meme-like stock surge for American Eagle, which jumped last month after retail traders online piled in following the reveal of new ads featuring Sweeney. The stock ultimately lost some momentum following the late July rally, which also saw several other new meme stocks rise. Trump's post helped it make up some of the ground it lost since then. However, even after multiple surges, the fashion retailer is still down almost 23% year-to-date (YTD) after a difficult start to 2025. Livvy Dunne might be an NIL trailblazer turned social media influencer, but not everyone appreciates her fast-paced lifestyle. The former LSU gymnast was recently shut out from buying a well-known New York City property. She said the residents may not want a public figure living in the building. She's not alone in her pursuit of a great view of the Big Apple. But the property in question is a no-go for Dunne. The unit at 345 W. 88th St belonged to MLB legend Babe Ruth during his time with the New York Yankees. The three bedrooms, two and a half bath floor plan features oak floors with the current owners reportedly having outgrown the space, according to reporter Khristopher J. Brooks. "Own a piece of New York City sports history in this expansive three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bathroom co-op once owned by the Yankees' Sultan of Swat," said a listing description for the property. For $1.59 million, it's "Currently configured with two bedrooms, this residence offers a wealth of storage, handsome built-ins, and an exceptionally spacious layout that can easily accommodate the addition of a third bedroom" Dunne became the latest person to get rejected from buying a co-op unit in NYC. She joins a growing list who want to keep well-known figures out. According to Brooks, Antonio Banderas, Madonna, Richard Nixon, Mariah Carey, Calvin Klein and others are at the top of the list. But why? "Co-op boards in New York City are a breed of their own," real estate agent Kirsten Jordan told Brooks. "Trust me, even if you have a rock-solid bank account, they can still say 'thanks, but no thanks' for reasons you'd never expect." Dunne was heartbroken to find out her dream pad was unavailable after she tried to pay with an all cash offer. After leaving LSU the top NIL earner picked up a longtime gig as a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model. She performed at this year's show in Miami, busting out the splits on the catwalk in an instant viral moment."Then the week that I'm supposed to get my keys to my brand-new apartment, I get a call," Dunne said in a social media video posted July 8. "The co-op board denied me. So, pretty much, the people in the building voted to not have me live there." For now, Dunne is still in search of her ultimate NYC pad. Getting the 'w' and 'r' of 4 Across led me to believe it might be WATER, and from there, I was able to figure out OTTER and PERCY. At that point, HOP and HAS IT finally became clear. Phew!
