The move marks a major milestone in SECOM's expansion across Thailand, its largest market in ASEAN by both contract volume and revenue.
The new headquarters brings together SECOM's Operations Hub, Control Centre, and Customer Showroom into a single space, enhancing real-time responsiveness and operational efficiency. Visitors can now explore SECOM's Demo House and Demo Café for a first-hand look at its innovative security offerings.
With the launch, SECOM also introduces Hybrid Security—a smart, scalable, and cost-effective solution that combines human intelligence with AI and advanced technologies, designed for enterprises navigating an increasingly complex security landscape.
'SECOM aims to expand its presence further and deliver real peace of mind to Thai customers,' said Mr Kiyoshi Moriya, Managing Director of THAI SECOM SECURITY CO., LTD. 'As Japan's number one security provider, we're committed to offering the most suitable services across various sectors in Thailand.'
The newly upgraded Control Centre—built with Business Continuity Planning (BCP) principles—features redundant power and network systems, as well as SLA-based automated alerts connected directly to police, fire, and emergency services. Unlike traditional security guard models, SECOM provides centralised 24/7 surveillance—a rare offering in Thailand.
'Increases in the minimum wage and changes to overtime regulations are making traditional security guard models more expensive,' Moriya added. 'SECOM's Hybrid Security model integrates on-site personnel with system-based technologies, helping clients optimise costs while maintaining high-quality protection. With over 50 service locations nationwide, our operators can detect, alert, and coordinate directly with law enforcement in real time.'
Flexible, Modular Solutions for Businesses
SECOM's flagship offering, Comprehensive Security, is a modular, all-in-one solution tailored for SMEs, retail outlets, warehouses, and factories. It includes motion sensors, fire alarms, 24/7 monitoring, mobile app access, annual maintenance, and insurance—offered under flexible subscription or on-demand models.
'Security is now an essential part of doing business,' said Mr Akarat Vipanurat, Director of THAI SECOM SECURITY CO., LTD. 'Our solutions are tailored to the specific needs of each organisation, regardless of industry or size. Clients—especially manufacturers—can manage their systems via app, web portal, or on-site devices. Our standard after-sales service includes annual maintenance, a one-year equipment warranty, and burglary/liability insurance—all included in our Comprehensive Security package.'
Trusted by Industry Leaders
The event featured testimonials from SECOM clients such as UOB Bank. 'We've partnered with SECOM for over six years across 140 branches,' said Mr Witthawat Phetgajaysaeng, Head of Corporate Real Estate Services at UOB Bank. 'SECOM isn't just a vendor—they're a strategic partner who understands our business. Their regional teams respond quickly, providing the flexibility and reliability we need to manage multi-location operations.'
SECOM welcomes businesses and the public to explore its Interactive Security Experience at the new showroom, featuring AI systems, mobile apps, and integrated solutions. Free consultations are available for homes, retail, and corporate security design.

Thai consumer confidence slips further

Thai consumer confidence dropped for a sixth consecutive month in July to its lowest level in 31 months due mainly to concerns over US tariffs, a lagging economy and government instability, a survey showed on Thursday. The index compiled by the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce fell to 51.7 in July from 52.7 in the previous month. The sluggish economy and the trade war, as well as high living costs, continue to undermine confidence, it said. 'The confidence index shows no signs of recovery, with consumer purchasing power still subdued,' university president Thanavath Phonvichai told a press conference. 'The economy shows signs of stagnation and needs more stimulation,' he said, adding that the economy might grow by only 1.7% this year, after 2.5% expansion last year. While the United States has reduced its tariff on imported goods from Thailand to 19% from 36%, there are still uncertainties relating to US tariffs on transshipments via Thailand from third countries, Mr Thanavath said. 'What needs to be clearly defined is tariffs on transshipments. They must be explicitly outlined for businesses to adapt accordingly,' he said. Consumers were also worried about the instability of the government following the suspension of Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra pending a ruling in a case seeking her dismissal for her mishandling of a phone call with former Cambodian premier Hun Sen. 'The political situation remains unstable following the prime minister's suspension from duty, creating an unclear outlook and undermining confidence,' Mr Thanavath said.

Chevron, BCPR partner on Gulf of Thailand project

Bangkok, August 5, 2025 — In a significant step towards bolstering Thailand's energy security, a new partnership has been launched between Chevron Offshore (Thailand) Limited (COTL) and BCPR Co., Ltd. (BCPR) for petroleum exploration and production in Block G2/65 in the Gulf of Thailand. Formalised under a Production Sharing Contract (PSC) model, the collaboration was officially marked at a recent ceremony presided over by Dr Prasert Sinsukprasert, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy. The event also commemorated the Minister of Energy's authorisation of BCPR's participation—an affiliate of the Bangchak Group and a leading Thai energy company—via the issuance of Supplementary Production Sharing Contract (No. 1). The partnership is expected to advance exploration and development activities in the block. The ceremony was attended by Dr Prasert; Mr Warakorn Brahmopala, Director-General of the Department of Mineral Fuels; and senior executives from the Department of Mineral Fuels, Chevron, and Bangchak. Representing Chevron were Mr Chatit Huayhongtong, President of Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production Ltd., and Mr Ronnarong Chanleka, General Manager of Chevron Offshore (Thailand) Limited. From Bangchak Group, attendees included Mr Pairoj Kaweeyanun, Director of Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited and BCPR; Mr Chaiwat Kovavisarach, Group Chief Executive Officer and President of Bangchak Corporation; Ms Phatpuree Chinkulkitnivat, Chief Financial Officer and Senior Executive Vice President, Accounting and Finance, Bangchak Corporation and Director of BCPR; and Mr Komut Maneechai, Vice President of BCPR. The event marked BCPR's official entry as a co-venturer in the exploration block, underscoring the importance of robust industry collaboration to advance domestic energy development and meet the nation's growing needs. Dr Prasert commented, 'The Department of Mineral Fuels, Ministry of Energy, as the regulator overseeing petroleum exploration and production, has thoroughly reviewed and verified the criteria for participation in Block G2/65 under the PSC system by BCPR Co., Ltd. The process was completed in full compliance with legal procedures and has been approved by the Minister of Energy. This marks a significant opportunity for the petroleum industry, as a new Thai investor joins the sector. It also presents a valuable learning opportunity for BCPR personnel, who will gain insights into developing petroleum fields with complex geological conditions in the Gulf of Thailand from Chevron—an experienced operator both locally and globally. This collaboration will help prepare BCPR to become a future operator in Thailand's petroleum sector. The signing of this supplementary PSC plays a vital role in ensuring continuity in domestic energy supply and serves as a foundation for economic growth and long-term energy resilience.' Mr Chatit Huayhongtong, President of Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production Ltd., said, 'The future of energy will be built on strong partnerships and a shared understanding of the critical role energy plays in economic and community development. Our partnership with BCPR, a Bangchak Group affiliate, represents a fusion of Chevron's world-class knowledge and innovation with our experience in petroleum exploration and production in the Gulf of Thailand—an upstream energy hub. This is complemented by Bangchak Group's strengths in Thailand's midstream and downstream sectors. The collaboration will support the development of Block G2/65, facilitate knowledge transfer and human resource development, and reinforce Chevron's commitment to providing reliable, affordable, and cleaner energy for Thailand.' Mr Chaiwat Kovavisarach, Group Chief Executive Officer and President of Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited, added, 'This collaboration reflects a shared vision between strategic partners dedicated to strengthening Thailand's energy security. BCPR's participation in the development of Block G2/65 alongside Chevron, a global energy leader with a long-standing presence in Thailand, represents a meaningful milestone. It also offers an invaluable opportunity to learn from a world-class partner with expertise in advanced technology, large-scale project management, and human capital development. This builds upon the knowledge and experience BCPR has gained from its investment in OKEA in Norway. The partnership has been made possible through the support of the Ministry of Energy and the Department of Mineral Fuels, which continue to play pivotal roles in shaping the country's energy strategy. Chevron's decision to welcome Bangchak Group as a co-venturer marks the beginning of a high-potential, sustainable partnership.' In 2023, Chevron was awarded the Production Sharing Contract for Exploration Block G2/65 by the Department of Mineral Fuels, Ministry of Energy. The project is currently in the exploration phase. Under the agreement, Chevron has transferred 30% of its rights and obligations under the PSC to BCPR, making BCPR an official co-venturer, with Chevron continuing as the operator. The partnership aims to unlock the potential of Block G2/65, further supporting Thailand's long-term energy security.

VietJet to hire at least 5,000 new Thai staff

VietJet Aviation plans to employ more than 5,000 new staff in Thailand as Vietnam's biggest budget carrier accelerates flight and route expansion to Southeast Asia's most popular travel destination. VietJet Thailand this year will start new direct flights to major Asian cities to tap regional air travel growth, according to astatement issued late Wednesday. The new markets include Japan, South Korea and India, it said. VietJet joins peers such as Thai Airways International and AirAsia that have opened new regional routes as Thailand quickens its push to become a major aviation hub. The government is expanding passenger capacity at its international airports in Bangkok and tourist hotspots such as Phuket and Chiang Mai to attract more airlines and travellers. VietJet Thailand is filling openings for positions including pilots, cabin crew, engineers, technicians and ground staff. The airline currently employs about 1,300 people in the country. The expansion comes after a London judge denied an attempt by the UK investment fund FitzWalter Capital to freeze VietJet's global assets over unpaid fees. VietJet's Thai unit posted a net income of 64 million baht in 2024, after a loss of 3.6 billion baht a year earlier, according to data from the Department of Business Development. Total revenue last year jumped 45% from a year earlier to 19 billion baht. VietJet Thailand's new routes will include Bangkok to Seoul, starting Oct 1; Bangkok to Osaka, launching Dec 1; Bangkok to Tokyo Narita International Airport, beginning Dec 15; Bangkok to Kolkata, India, starting Nov 16 and Bangkok to Ahmedabad, India, on Dec 4.
