1. Leverage Ultra-Wide & Telephoto Lenses for Atmosphere
- Ultra-Wide: Capture sweeping monsoon skies, cloud formations, and wide reflective landscapes.
- 5x Telephoto: Focus on distant, rain-wrapped subjects from a lone umbrella to mist-covered buildings or raindrops on glass.
2. Use ProRAW + Night Mode for Depth & Drama
- Shoot in ProRAW to retain dynamic range in low-contrast, overcast scenes.
- Night Mode helps capture twilight storms and dimly lit rain scenes while preserving natural mood and reducing noise.
3. Experiment with Live Photos for Long Exposure
- Capture motion in Live Photo mode for waterfalls, ripples, or bustling wet streets.
- In editing, select 'Long Exposure' to create silky water flows or dreamy, blurred rain.
4. Tell Stories with Cinematic Mode
- Use Cinematic Mode in 4K at 24 fps to shoot compelling monsoon sequences like someone walking through the drizzle or post-rain cityscapes.
- Utilise rack focus between raindrops in the foreground and subjects in the distance to add depth.
5. Get Close with Macro Photography
- Highlight the little details: dewdrops, wet leaves, and textures of soaked surfaces.
- Use the macro lens to explore reflections in puddles or intricate rain-soaked patterns.
6. Use Rain as a Natural Filter
- Shoot through car windows, transparent umbrellas, or wet glass for layered textures, bokeh, and dreamy distortions.
- These elements add an organic, storybook quality to your compositions.
7. Edit for Mood in Apple Photos (or similar apps)
- Boost contrast and shadows to emphasise the drama of overcast scenes.
- Slightly desaturate greens and blues to avoid overly vibrant monsoon tones and achieve a more cinematic feel.
8. Stay Dry, Shoot Smart
- Use a clip-on rain cover, umbrella rig, or waterproof pouch to protect your gear.
- A dry lens means sharper images even in pouring rain.

Experts from MNNIT join hands with IIIT-Gwalior, PEC to develop high speed antenna for 6G comm

Prayagraj: Experts from three institutions-- MNNIT-Allahabad, IIIT-Gwalior and PEC Chandigarh-- are jointly developing a high-speed antenna for 6G communication that could revolutionise mobile data transfer in the country. The antenna aims to boost current transmission speeds from 1 gigabyte per second (GB/s) to a staggering 1 terabyte per second (TB/s). "Once made, the antenna is expected to eliminate common mobile network issues such as voice call drops and busy networks. It will also enhance the capability of limited bandwidth systems to serve a higher number of users with improved connectivity," said Anand Sharma, Assistant Professor in the electronics and communication engineering (ECE) Department at MNNIT. As development progresses, this breakthrough positions India at the forefront of next-generation telecommunications technology, he added. Sharma, along with Pinku Ranjan from the IIIT-Gwalior and Gaurav Das from Punjab Engineering College (PEC) Chandigarh, is working on the project sanctioned by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Govt of India. The govt has sanctioned Rs 32 lakh for the project, which is expected to be completed within the next three years. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like The Most Beautiful Women In The World Undo "This antenna will be developed entirely using indigenous technology and will mark a major step forward in India's journey toward self-reliance in futuristic communication systems. It will allow users to send bulky files across the globe in the blink of an eye," said Sharma. The scientists believe this innovation could revolutionise the way Indians experience mobile communication, making lag-free video calls, instant file sharing and high-speed internet access a reality in the near future. Railway budget for Karnataka jumped nearly ninefold under Modi: Ashwini Vaishnaw

Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw on Sunday highlighted a sharp rise in budgetary allocation for Karnataka's railway projects since 2014, crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the change. Addressing a gathering after Mr. Modi inaugurated the Yellow Line of Namma Metro here on Sunday, Mr. Vaishnaw said that Karnataka had been receiving only about ₹835 crore annually for railway works prior to 2014. 'Under Mr. Modi's leadership, this allocation has surged to ₹7,500 crore. At present, projects worth ₹54,000 crore are under way across the State,' he said. He added that 61 railway stations in the State are being modernised under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, aimed at upgrading passenger amenities and infrastructure. Devanahalli emerges as iPhone hub Shifting focus to the electronics sector, Mr. Vaishnaw, who is also the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting and Electronics & Information Technology, said that India's electronics manufacturing output had expanded sixfold to ₹12 lakh crore during this period, while exports had risen eightfold to over ₹3 lakh crore. 'A decade ago, the idea of India exporting electronics seemed far-fetched. Today, the country stands as the world's second-largest mobile phone manufacturer, with Bengaluru's Devanahalli emerging as a significant hub for iPhone production,' he said. According to the Minister, the Prime Minister's push towards 'Viksit Bharat 2047' has yielded nationwide benefits, including Karnataka. Bengaluru leads in AI Highlighting initiatives to make advanced technology accessible, especially artificial intelligence (AI), Mr. Vaishnaw said the India AI Mission provides 34,000 GPUs as a shared computing resource for innovators across the country. 'Bengaluru is one of the biggest users of this facility. The cost is less than one US dollar an hour, making it the world's most affordable common compute resource,' he said. He also pointed out to the efforts of Bengaluru-based startup Sarvam, which is developing an indigenous Large Language Model trained on extensive datasets in multiple Indian languages. This AI system, he said, is being designed to be free from biases and to reflect India's linguistic diversity.

In a first, electric 2-wheelerregistrations decline in Karnataka

Bengaluru: For the first time, Karnataka has recorded a decline in electric two-wheeler registrations. In 2024–25, more than 1.3 lakh e-scooters and bikes were registered — down from more than 1.4 lakh in 2023–24. This dip comes despite zero registration tax on e-two-wheelers and increasing options in the market. In total, more than 12.9 lakh two-wheelers, both electric and petrol, were registered in the state during the year. On average, 3,170 petrol-powered two-wheelers were registered each day, compared to just 370 electric ones. Transport department officials attribute the decline to limited fast-charging infrastructure. "Short-distance urban commuters prefer e-scooters, and we have seen consistent growth. But with slow home charging and few fast-charging options, interest seems to have dipped," a senior official said. "I feel nervous using it in the rain or on bad roads," he added. E-cars & autos grow Even as electric two-wheeler registrations slowed, electric cars continued to rise — from 10,299 in 2023–24 to 12,191 in 2024–25. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like I am closing my jewelry shop forever... Sheryl Duncan Shop Now Undo The state had only 186 registered e-cars in 2019–20, crossing the 10,000 mark for the first time last year. While buyers earlier benefited from a lifetime road tax exemption, a 10% tax was introduced in March 2024 for e-cars priced above Rs 25 lakh. E-autos also saw a sharp increase. From just 68 in 2019–20, registrations crossed 5,000 in 2024–25. Exemption from permit requirements encouraged growth, especially among aggregators and individual drivers. However, the state has now made permits mandatory for all new and existing e-autos. The state's push for public transport electrification has led to growth in e-bus registrations. From just two in 2020–21, the number rose to 731 in 2024–25. The transition is driven by state-run road transport corporations under the electric mobility policy. Despite the current setback in the two-wheeler segment, officials believe improved infrastructure and awareness will help revive interest. "As fast-charging networks expand and confidence grows, numbers are likely to bounce back," a transport official said. —--- Discounts scaled back: Expert An industry expert said the two-wheeler market "remains stagnant, and within it, the EV segment has also seen a slight decline." A major manufacturer that once offered heavy discounts to improve market share scaled them back last year to focus on profitability, he said. "Two other leading players also reduced their discount-led strategies," the expert added. Reduced subsidies have further dented sales. "Buyers earlier benefited from substantial incentives, but these have been cut sharply, leading to a drop in volumes," he said. Charging infrastructure gaps persist, especially the lack of standardised connectors. While Bengaluru faces fewer issues due to higher EV awareness, less mature markets struggle. Most city users plan their travel and charge at home, he said. New models at varied price points and the festive season could boost sentiment and bring an uptick in demand, the expert said.
