Shrutika Arjun, known for her memorable stint in Bigg Boss 18 where she won audiences' hearts with her charm, and as the winner of the hit South Indian cooking reality show Cooku With Comali, has also worked in major South films like Shree alongside Suriya and Vaathi with Dhanush. Recently, the actress opened up about South cinema's global recognition, her cherished memories from film sets, and what could tempt her to return to acting.
Reflecting on the new wave of South Indian cinema and its international success, she shared, 'It's truly heartening to see South cinema getting the recognition it deserves on a global scale. I've been fortunate to share screen space with some of the finest talents in the industry, and watching this wave unfold makes me proud. While I'm not actively chasing a return to acting, if something genuinely powerful and challenging comes my way, I wouldn't mind giving it a shot."
Speaking about her early acting career and how the industry has evolved, Shrutika added, 'That phase was filled with learning, excitement, and a deep sense of creative fulfillment. What I cherish the most are the people, the passion on sets, and the love from the audience. Today, there's a visible shift in storytelling—more depth, more meaning, and a lot more space for individuality, especially for women, which is refreshing to see."
When asked about what kind of story or character would make her say yes to a comeback, she revealed, 'I'd love to play a character that has layers, something emotionally intense, raw, and real. It could be a woman with strength, vulnerability, and purpose. Stories that challenge me and leave an impact—those are the ones that would make me consider a return."
Shrutika Arjun was last seen in Bigg Boss 18. The show was won by Karan Veer Mehra.

Neil Nitin Mukesh Calls Shah Rukh Khan, Kartik Aaryan Role Models For Outsiders: 'Nepotism Never Helped...'

Neil Nitin Mukesh says nepotism never helped him despite belonging to a film family. The actor praises Shah Rukh Khan and Kartik Aaryan as inspirations. Neil Nitin Mukesh may belong to one of Bollywood's most respected musical lineages—he is the son of playback singer Nitin Mukesh and grandson of the legendary Mukesh—but the actor insists that nepotism has never worked in his favour. In fact, he says he is still battling to land his next acting job despite his family background. In a candid conversation with Screen, Neil said he doesn't believe in the label 'nepotism" when it comes to his journey, 'I have had the privilege of being born and brought up in the film fraternity, but my struggle nullifies that word for me. It never helped me; I am still struggling to find my next job. It changes perception, yes. But when it comes to work, nobody has supported Mukesh ji, Nitin Mukesh ji or me in that regard. Three generations have faced enough struggles. We've worked very hard all our lives to sustain our craft and put food on the table." According to Neil, talent will always outweigh connections in the industry. He believes that no matter how many opportunities come your way, an actor cannot survive without skill, 'The current generation of stars… look at Shah Rukh Khan sir, isn't he the benchmark? Isn't he the idol, not just for being the biggest superstar in the world, but also for being an outsider who came and conquered? We all draw inspiration, even I do, from actors like Shah Rukh sir or Kartik Aaryan, who hails from a non-film family. He has such a simple and nice family. I love his relationship with his mother and father; it's very refreshing to see that." Neil was last seen in the musical drama series Hai Junoon, alongside Jacqueline Fernandez, Siddharth Nigam, Priyank Sharma, Anushka Sen, Sumedh Vasudev Mudgalkar, Elnaaz Norouzi, Elisha Mayor, and Kunwarr Amarjeet Singh. Directed by Abhishek Sharma, the show is currently streaming on JioHotstar. The actor has yet to announce his next project, but for now, he remains steadfast in his belief that hard work and perseverance—not lineage—are the real keys to longevity in the industry. He noted the similarities in their careers and praised NTR for his dedication, calling him a 'one-take final-take star.' Hrithik mentioned that he has learned the importance of giving 100 percent to each shot from NTR, a lesson he intends to carry forward in his future projects. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Pallav Paliwal (@pallav_paliwal) 'I see a lot of myself in Tarak. We have had very similar journeys for 25 years now, and I think Tarak sees a little bit of himself in me also. It is true when they say that he is a one-take final-take star. On set, Tarak, I have not just observed you, but I have learnt from you. I have learnt how to go into a shot 100% — not 99.99%, not 99.999, but 100%. Which is why when he comes out of a shot, there is no judgement on me. He will not even check the shot because he knows he has given everything to it. And I will apply that in my future films. Tarak, thank you for teaching me that," he said. About War 2 War 2's plot sets up an intense face-off between Hrithik Roshan's character, Major Kabir Dhaliwal, and Jr NTR's Vikram. Both are Indian spies but operate on vastly different interpretations of patriotism, leading to a clash that promises to be both physical and ideological. Kiara Advani steps in as Kavya Luthra, a character expected to play a pivotal role in the unfolding drama. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, War 2 serves as the sequel to the 2019 blockbuster War, which starred Hrithik Roshan, Tiger Shroff, and Vaani Kapoor. The first film was a runaway hit, praised for its slick action and stylish storytelling. This sequel is also a part of the growing YRF Spy Universe, which connects characters and narratives from films like Pathaan and Tiger Zinda Hai. view comments First Published: August 10, 2025, 21:33 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. State's Chhau and Paika dance forms add colour to Bhojpuri and South Indian novies

1 2 Ranchi: When Subodh Pramanik first stepped onto a makeshift village stage as a young boy, he could have barely imagined that his passion for Chhau and Paika dance, two traditional dance forms of Jharkhand, would one day take him to teach the dance forms in Bhojpuri and South Indian films. A native of Sonahatu in Ranchi, Subodh has not only mastered the art forms but also took them beyond regional boundaries. These performances have found a place in movies like 'Game Changer' starring Ram Charan and Bhojpuri film 'Kaashi Amarnath'. "I have been associated with the dance forms for over 45 years after I learnt these from the elders of my family. In 2016, a fellow artist from Orissa gave me an opportunity to teach Chhau and Paika to dancers of a Bhojpuri film. Later, I got another chance to work in the South Indian film, Game Changer. I took a troupe of 40 artists from Jharkhand to dance in the film," Pramanik said. Chhau dance has three different forms – Saraikela Chhau of Jharkhand, Purulia Chhau of West Bengal, and Mayurbhanj Chhau of Orissa. Saraikela Chhau has evolved from martial art techniques and is characterised by extensive use of music created from various traditional instruments. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Stylish New Mobility Scooters Available for Seniors (Prices May Surprise You) Mobility Scooter | Search Ads Search Now Undo "Chhau and Paika are mostly practiced by the tribal population of Jharkhand during the festivities. However, it is still unknown to a larger audience in the country. Showcasing the dance forms in films has now started to garner admiration for them and artists from other parts also show interest to learn," Subodh said. Pramanik believes that the opportunities to work in the film industry gave the troupe a chance to uphold the state's rich cultural heritage outside the state. "It's not just dance moves but about telling a story the way our ancestors did, through movement, expression, and rhythm," he said.
