John McArdle admits El Rocko chances at Caulfield depend on attitude, not track
The form gives a numerical idea of a horse's possibilities in a race but it's useless once the gates open.

El Rocko has good statistics on both slow and heavy ground but trainer John McArdle said the moments after the gelding starts a race are the most vital to chances rather than the track condition.
'It is a bit of a fallacy that he needs it really heavy (to win),' McArdle said.
'As long as he can get his toe into it, he's fine.
'It's more his attitude.
'If he jumps and puts himself into the race, we're on but if he jumps and ends up worse than midfield, he turns off and has the day off.
'We never know if that's going to be, which way he's going to go.'

The son of Fastnet Rock's quirks haven't prevented him becoming a great money spinner for connections with his seven wins and 12 minor placings earning more than $560,000 in prizemoney.
El Rocko showed his talent with his win in Benchmark 100 grade at Caulfield on July 26 and will tackle a similar race over 1600m on Saturday.

Showers are forecast for Friday and Saturday but McArdle said they would have no effect on El Rocko's attitude.
'A heavy track is a help, because it slows the others down, but it's not a prerequisite but it's more him trying that is a prerequisite,' McArdle said.
El Rocko is an $18 chance to win the last race of Saturday's Caulfield meeting while his stablemate Eye Of The Eagle is a $16 chance in betting on the Benchmark 84 Handicap (1400m).

Eye Of The Eagle is yet to place in four runs this time in but McArdle noted the son of Alpine Eagle has had no luck despite favourable draws at his last two runs.
'He's probably going better than he ever has in his career but he's just had zero luck,' McArdle said.
'It hasn't worked out all according to plan at his last couple of runs but hopefully he can get a better run this time.
'He was wide the whole way and I don't reckon he got any closer than four off the fence last start but still had the cheek to be in front with 70m to go.
'A softer run would certainly help him.'
Zac Spain will ride Eye Of The Eagle while Jett Stanley will be aboard El Rocko.

Maxwell's unbeaten 62 off 36 balls helped Australia chase down a 173-run target with one ball to spare in a thrilling decider at the Cazalys Stadium. After 18 overs of their innings, it was a run-a-ball target for Australia with Maxwell in the middle. South African Corbin Bosch (3-26) claimed two wickets in the penultimate over and kept Maxwell away from the strike. Needing 10 off the last over from Lungi Ngidi, Maxwell took six from the first four balls before reverse sweeping the bowler for a four to seal Australia's dramatic victory. 'It was a little bit nerve-wracking,' Maxwell said after being judged player of the match. 'I probably had to do the majority of the striking but, yeah, it was nice to get a couple out of the middle right near the end.' Earlier, put in to bat, South Africa overcame a top order wobble to post a competitive 172-7 with Dewald Brevis (53) top-scoring for them. The tourists were 49-3 inside seven overs but Brevis looked unfazed and hit Aaron Hardie for four sixes in an over, throwing the pacer out of the attack. Then on the penultimate delivery in reply, man of the match Maxwell (62 from 36 balls) reverse sweeped for four as Australia reached 8/173 from 19.5 overs and won by two wickets in a thrilling finish. In the 19th over of South Africa's innings, Hardie produced a moment that had O'Keeffe and the commentary team in stitches. The 26-year-old then decided to fire an absolute rocket to Tim David attempting to cover the stumps in a moment that almost took the latter's hands clean off. When he was asked if he actually watches the ECL, O'Keeffe replied: 'Yeah. They have funny stuff at afternoon tea I think because it goes pear-shaped after the break.' 'I think they're probably 20 or 30 short of where they wanted to get to, but it's competitive.' Aussie duo Mitch Marsh and Travis Head made a fast start with the bat, taking the total past 50 without loss through six overs. The home side has just suffered a mini collapse, however, losing four wickets for 22 runs to leave the game evenly poised. That slump was then 6/56 after dangerman Tim David (17) and Hardie (1) fell quickly, leaving Maxwell to carry most of the load.
