#SHOWBIZ: Hazama to wait 10 years before staging solo concert
KUALA LUMPUR: Singer Hazama Azmi isn't rushing to hold a concert.
Instead, he'd rather focus on producing more songs across various genres to build up his repertoire before considering a solo show.
The 40-year-old artiste believes that more senior artistes like Misha Omar, Dayang Nurfaizah, or the band Spider are better qualified to stage solo concerts before he could even dream of doing so himself.
"Of course, singers and bands such as Datuk Awie, Wings, Search, Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza, and Datuk M Nasir are on a completely different level, especially with their huge song catalogues," he said.
"As for me, now is the time to gather my own songs so that when I do eventually hold a concert, I won't have to sing other people's material."
Hazama also believes that people attend concerts for nostalgia, to hear songs they listened to when they were younger.
"That's why KRU's recent concert was such a hit. People who grew up listening to them in the 1990s came to relive those memories with KRU," he explained.
"We can listen to the same song on Spotify, but the nostalgia only truly comes alive at a concert. So, I'll wait another 10 years before I hold my own."
Hazama shared these thoughts with reporters at a recent press conference held in Kuala Lumpur to promote his latest single, 'Aku Bukan Narsisis'.
The song was composed and produced by Farouk Roman, with lyrics penned by Hazama and Zel Hadauan.

KUALA LUMPUR: While artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly trending in music video production, popular hip-hop and pop trio KRU has no plans to revive their 2000 pet project, Tyco. KRU, made up of brothers Datuk Norman, Datuk Yusry, and Edry Abdul Halim, created Tyco as 3D virtual pop stars. These science-fiction likenesses of themselves were named Tylo, Yiko, and Psylo respectively. In a Harian Metro news report yesterday, Norman said that Tyco, which performed several songs including 'Saat Ku Pejamkan Mata', 'Sandiwara', 'With You', and 'Never Trust A Man Again', would not be brought back due to the brothers' time constraints. "Tyco was a pop group with a difference back then, and it was Yusry's idea," he explained. "While they did gain a good following, I'm afraid that the three of us don't have much time to bring back the trio. Furthermore, recreating animated characters isn't an easy task." He added that Edry is also currently based in the United Kingdom. Last May, KRU made a successful comeback with Konsert GenKRU at the Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil. The concert, which marked their 33rd anniversary as a group, ran for four nights and was hugely popular with fans.

Hip-hop group 4U2C to make grand comeback in September concert

Photo: Handout After being absent from the local music scene for a long time, legendary 1990s hip-hop group 4U2C is set to thrill fans at the upcoming event WE 4U2C Live In Concert, which will take place at Idea Live Arena, Petaling Jaya, on Sept 15. With a nostalgic "Bringin Back Da 90's Flava" theme, the concert will feature timeless hits such as Fiona, Kami Rappers and I Miss U , along with a surprise treat of three brand-new songs comprising one ballad and two upbeat tracks for fans who have long awaited the group's return. The group consists of Datuk AC Mizal, Aren, Yanz, Rinz, Lanz, Charlie and Azam. According to AC Mizal, this concert is a dream come true for all of them. "This is truly a dream come true. We promise this won't just be a lip-syncing performance … we'll be dancing and entertaining like we did three decades ago,' he said at a concert press conference yesterday. He said the idea for the concert came from his wife Datin Emylia Rosnaida after seeing the success of the recent KRU concert, followed by an official offer by Juss Event Sdn Bhd. AC Mizal said organising this concert is also a first step toward making a full comeback in the mainstream local music industry after a long hiatus. "Our goal is to become trendsetters by reviving our legacy. This is the perfect opportunity for a comeback. "4U2C was the first group in Malaysia to come up with the concept of singing while dancing and we'll be sticking to that identity in this concert. We want to show that Malaysia has truly high-quality artistes who not only can sing but also entertain,' he said. Maestro Aubrey Suwito has been appointed the concert's music director, supported by a team of 14 seasoned professional musicians.
