Cowboys Poised To Feed Off Each Other In RB Competition
The Dallas Cowboys' running back room is in a vastly different spot than it was 12 months ago.
Gone are Ezekiel Elliott and Rico Dowdle, in comes Javonte Williams, Miles Sanders and draftees Jaydon Blue and Phil Mafah. We then add in Deuce Vaughn and fullback Hunter Luepke, too.

That is quite the room, and with head coach Brian Schottenheimer already stating that he envisions both Blue, who boasts a 4.38 40-yard dash, and Mafah, a brusing power back, as starters, we think a little thunder and lightning or Dine & Dash 2.0 might be in order.
And Mafah thinks so too.
'I can complement them really well, especially Jaydon,' Mafah said. 'Us being in the same class and being a great speed guy, me being a power guy, I feel like we can feed off of each other. Also, the other running backs in the room, Javonte, Miles Sanders, just looking up to those guys being able to ask them questions and gain knowledge, I feel like will help us, help our room in the long run.'

Running back will be perhaps the most-watched training camp battle in Oxnard as all four in Williams, Sanders, Blue, and Mafah feel they can start behind Dak Prescott in 2025.

We highly doubt Schottenheimer will carry more than four backs on the active roster, and that means someone will miss out.
Blue and his home-run speed loom as a key trait, so too Williams and Sanders' experience in the league, and as for Mafah, his leadership qualities and ability to punish defenders over the course of a game might see him get snaps too.
The Cowboys' running back room has a good mix of youth and play styles, and with each offering something different, it is going to make for one serious battle in the Oxnard sun.
And it's one where we have no idea who will come out on top, just as a training camp battle should be.

Cowboys Sign Packers Ex Cornerback as Free Agent
Cowboys Sign Packers Ex Cornerback as Free Agent originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Another defensive back from the Green Bay Packers is on the move. Mere hours after Jaire Alexander signed with the Baltimore Ravens, sources confirm cornerback Robert Rochell has agreed to terms with the Dallas Cowboys on a free-agent contract. Advertisement Rochell joins the Cowboys after the team suffered a litany of injuries at the position last season. This year, they may continue to face difficulties in that regard. Trevon Diggs is rehabbing another knee surgery with a hopeful return aimed at mid-season. Third-round pick Shavon Revel Jr. is recovering from an ACL tear, but he should be back on the field during training camp. Josh Butler has also been sidelined this offseason with an injury. Rochell, however, may have his best shot at making the Cowboys roster as a special teams ace. The former fourth-round pick in 2021 has seen limited action on defense throughout his four-year career. He started with the Los Angeles Rams where he saw five cornerback starts as a rookie but totaled just 14 tackles on the season. Advertisement The next three years he has seen action strictly on special teams. Last year in particular, he played just one snap on defense for the Packers. He appeared in 41% of Green Bay's special teams snaps in 2024. Rochell will have to make a major impact in Oxnard to be considered for a 53-man spot, but he could be granted enough opportunities on the field to do so amid Dallas' limited availability. Worth noting, Dallas re-signed another special teamer in longtime Cowboy and emergency DB C.J. Goodwin earlier this offseason. The Cowboys' front office is leaving no stone unturned in regard to their defensive back depth ahead of training camp. Five Cowboys Cut Candidates As Training Camp Nears
Five Cowboys Cut Candidates As Training Camp Nears originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Training camp is getting closer and with it comes the harsh reality of roster cut candidates. The Dallas Cowboys enter this period with a revamped roster and a new coaching staff that's making everybody earn every position and every rep. … And a handful of players could now be walking into Oxnard with a target on their back. Advertisement Damone Clark is one of them. His leadership, toughness, and recovery story from spinal fusion surgery are beyond admirable. But in a linebacker room now featuring Marist Liufau, Jack Sanborn, Kenneth Murray Jr., Shemar James, and the return of DeMarvion Overshown, Clark's $3.3 million cap hit suddenly becomes a real conversation. The Cowboys could cut him, save over $3 million in cap space, and take on just $60,000 in dead money. There's no question about Clark's character and football ability at full health — but he simply may find himself the odd man out if a cheaper, younger linebacker earns the trust of the new staff. Tyrus Wheat is another potential cut candidate. He had his shot — and it came amidst a plethora of injuries and opportunity in 2024. Still, he didn't make his mark. Now, much like the linebacker position, after the addition of three edges in free agency and the draft, including second-round pick Donovan Ezeiruaku, he could get lost in a crowded and talented edge room. Advertisement At running back, the surprise cut candidate name might be Miles Sanders. Yes, he ran with the 1s during OTAs and minicamp. But that was likely a nod to his veteran status, not necessarily his long-term value. Javonte Williams is the money back. Jaydon Blue brings home-run ability. Phil Mafah is the physical outlier. Deuce Vaughn's short-area quickness is too unique to dismiss. And Hunter Leupke is the swiss army knife for his ability to play three different positions. Sanders being the elder statesman in the room will certainly bring some value, but as far as his physical ability goes, he's not exactly unique to the rest of the group. This is going to be a fascinating competition to track. by Mike Fisher View the 1 images of this gallery on the original article Advertisement Matt Waletzko is another player on borrowed time. Drafted for his rare athleticism, his career has been wrecked by injuries. He's played in just 11 games in three years and enters a packed offensive line room full of experienced veterans and up and coming prospects. Nate Thomas, Asim Richards, and Ajani Cornelius to name a few. Add in the fact that Waletzko no longer has a 'sponsor' in the building and it's easy to see the writing on the wall. And then there's Andrew Booth — a former second-round pick the Cowboys took a flier on last offseason. He struggled significantly when injuries forced him into extended snaps down the stretch in 2024. Dallas responded by drafting Shavon Revel Jr., a corner with first-round pedigree who only fell due to injury. And trading for former first round pick Kaiir Elam who's been the talk of OTA's and Minicamp so far. It seems as if Booth's best shot at sticking will be tied to the health and rehabilitation of others — not necessarily his own performance. Andrew Dieb-Imagn Images View the 1 images of this gallery on the original article Advertisement In a normal offseason, some of these players might survive. But this isn't a normal offseason. The Cowboys are deeper, the pressure is real, and the standard under this new staff is clear: compete every day, and earn every rep — or you're out. Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders say they're getting a 400% increase in pay
FRISCO, Texas — The Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders say they are getting a serious increase in pay. One of the cheerleaders has said during the second season of the Netflix series 'America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders' that the members are getting a 400% boost in pay. The cheerleaders have been pushing for pay increases for years. In 2019, the Cowboys settled a lawsuit with a former cheerleader that led to the squad doubling the per-game pay, from $200 to $400. The latest raise is four times that.
