The game was named after Germany and Bayern great Beckenbauer following his death in January 2024.
The visual identity of the event will also receive a new look, characterized by gold tones, and a new logo, which depicts Beckenbauer in action and will adorn the trophy.

Benjamin Sesko: Man United transfer latest as RB Leipzig make surprise request

RB Leipzig might end up making things easy for Manchester United in their pursuit of Benjamin Sesko. Having made the Slovenian talent their priority striker target, United are locking horns with Newcastle United for his services. It is understood that Leipzig have informed the player's suitors that they are seeking a fee of €75million plus add-ons as well as a sell-on percentage for any deal. Man United face strong competition from Newcastle The Saudi-backed outfit are desperate for a new number nine amid question marks over Alexander Isak's future at Tyneside. According to Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle are offering Sesko 'important money' and are 'ready to close the deal immediately.' United, meanwhile, are taking a more conservative approach. Considering their financial predicament, Ineos are unlikely to splash the cash recklessly. The Italian journalist claims that United have contacted Leipzig to underline their willingness to bid for Sesko. However, the Red Devils 'will need to take some time with RB Leipzig to negotiate and it will take some time before they close a deal.' Leipzig want Hojlund from Man United Interestingly, the Bundesliga giants hold interest in Rasmus Hojlund. The ex-Atalanta sensation has struggled to find his feet in England. Romano reveals that Leipzig have requested Hojlund as part of their negotiations over a deal for Sesko. A player-plus-cash deal involving Hojlund, who is not considered good enough to spearhead Ruben Amorim's attack, could prove to be a dream scenario for United's hierarchy, who are keen to raise funds by offloading out-of-favour players this summer. However, Romano adds that the Denmark international's desire is to stay at Old Trafford and fight for his place. So far, he has not been told to leave, but he may consider his options later in the window. Amorim praised Hojlund's performance in his side's 4-1 win over Bournemouth in Chicago. Still, the United head coach stopped short of offering any guarantees over his future. Featured image Luciano Lima via Getty Images online polls Follow us on Bluesky: @

😵‍💫 Debutant loses his head: 90 minutes at Schalke will do that to you

Schalke 04 is anything but a normal football club. Even an experienced player like Nikola Katic had to realize this during his royal blue competitive debut. Because the 28-year-old was marked in several ways after the 90 minutes against Hertha. With his header goal in the 23rd minute, the defender immediately made it onto the scorers' list. His goal ultimately secured the 2:1 home victory. 📸 Lars Baron - 2025 Getty Images Just before the end, the 1.94-meter giant sustained a cut on his head, which was promptly glued on the pitch. The tough Bosnian carried on, even though he apparently could no longer see clearly. Because Katic received a yellow-red card in stoppage time for a deliberate handball. In the header duel with Hertha's Fabian Reese, he rose to the artificial leather in the style of a volleyball middle blocker. "I think he didn't know what he was doing," his coach Miron Muslic speculated after the game on the 'Sky' microphone. Katic must have felt like he was in the wrong movie. Because in 257 professional games, the defender had never seen a dismissal due to the second warning. It took exactly 90 minutes at Schalke. Erik van Rooyen withdraws from Wyndham Championship late Friday afternoon

There was another withdrawal at the 2025 Wyndham Championship, as Erik van Rooyen tapped out with a back injury Friday afternoon, according to the PGA Tour. The South African was 1 over through 14 holes (he started on No. 10) in his second round. He was 4 over overall, well off the projected cut line of 4 under. There were four previous withdrawals since Sunday from this event, the final one of the 2025 regular season for the PGA Tour and van Rooyen's departure was announced 10 minutes after the tournament officials suspended play for "dangerous weather." In the projected FedEx Cup Playoffs standings at the time of his WD, van Rooyen was 68th, down four spots from where he was when the tournament started. Only the top 70 in the points on Sunday night advance to the first event in the postseason, next week's FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis.
