Melania Trump Wears Thom Browne for White House's Fourth of July Picnic

Melania Trump chose a crisp white Thom Browne shirtdress to attend the White House's Independence Day picnic on Friday. The first lady joined U.S. President Donald Trump in hosting the annual event on the South Lawn, welcoming military families for a celebration marking America's 249th birthday. The dress, a cotton poplin A-line shirt dress, featured a sharp collar, button-down front, and a distinctive grosgrain tab at the waist adorned with Thom Browne's signature red, white and blue stripe — a quiet tribute to the holiday's colors. Melania completed her ensemble with red snake-embossed Manolo Blahnik shoes. 'Look, I respect her as the First Lady and it is something that I would respect,' Browne said at the time. Melania previously wore a Thom Browne design at her husband's second swearing-in ceremony in January. The Independence Day picnic itself was a festive affair, featuring remarks from President Trump and a B-2 bomber flyover as part of the celebrations. Military families enjoyed classic picnic fare, lawn games, and a fireworks display, with the first lady greeting guests. In June, she attended the celebrations of the U.S. Army's 250th anniversary with the Grand Military Parade wearing an ivory and navy pinstriped double-breasted blazer with silver-tone buttons and a coordinating long skirt from Adam Lippes. On Thursday, Melania was also seen visiting the Children's National Hospital wearing a polka dot dress by Gabriela Hearst paired with a matching pencil skirt and Roger Vivier ballet flats. Cleveland baseball legend Larry Doby remembered 78 years after groundbreaking achievement

Larry Doby broke the American League's color barrier 78 years ago today, on July 5, 1947. It was just a few months after Jackie Robinson first took the field for the Brooklyn Dodgers in the National League. Advertisement Playing for the Cleveland Indians, the outfielder Doby visited each AL city as the first Black man to ever play in games at those stadiums, in an era well before inter-league play. Doby's national legacy is a bit muted because Robinson was first to MLB, but Doby surely endured many of the same stresses and hate that Robinson did. Along the way, Doby was one of the best players in baseball. He didn't join Cleveland until he had played four seasons in the Negro Leagues and also served in the Navy in World War II. Even with the late start, Doby made nine All-Star Games and won two World Series. He's a Hall of Famer. Advertisement He batted .288 in his career. That included 273 home runs, 1,099 RBI and 1,697 hits. Late in his career, Doby also suited up for the White Sox and Tigers. His decade in Cleveland is where he was a baseball trailblazer, and a superstar. And on Larry Doby Day, July 5th every year, Doby is remembered, maybe not on as quite as wide a scale of Robinson, but deserving every bit of a legendary legacy in his own right. How Can We Trust Anything Xbox Says Now?

Perfect Dark There are certainly fluctuations of good and bad news all across the gaming industry, but more often than not as of late, the Xbox brand seems to be squandering its goodwill by saying one thing and then doing another over and over again. This was brought up yet again with a slew of cancellations that brought up more examples of this, but looking back, this is a pattern, and the question now, is how are we supposed to trust anything Xbox says? In the wake of these widespread cancellations, Xbox said all the games it recently showcased in its last livestream were not going to be cancelled, which should elicit nothing more than a 'yeah sure okay' at this point. Some of the most prominent examples of this: Xbox chief Phil Spencer speaks on stage at the Microsoft Xbox E3 2017 Briefing, June 11, 2017 at the ... More Galen Center in Los Angeles, California. The Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), which focuses on new products and technologies in electronic gaming systems and interactive entertainment, takes places June 13-15 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. / AFP PHOTO / Robyn BECK (Photo credit should read ROBYN BECK/AFP via Getty Images) Everwild You may notice a pattern here, that Xbox head Phil Spencer is cited in almost all of these. There's a three-sided debate about whether Spencer was A) not telling the truth on purpose, B) believing what he said at the time, but circumstances changed quickly or C) there is just an immense amount of pressure on Spencer and Xbox from Microsoft. These cuts, including the Xbox ones, are said to be saving cash to funnel into Microsoft's AI ambitions, where no, I cannot imagine Spencer wants that. There is, of course, still a question of, given how things have gone, whether Spencer is still the best choice to lead this ship. What a couple years it's been for Xbox. What a couple generations, even.
