BREAKING NEWS Girl, six, dies after being hit by Range Rover on busy road after school
A six-year-old girl has tragically died after being struck by a Range Rover on a busy road.
The car had been travelling westbound along Ashfield Road, Rochdale, at around 5.35pm on Monday, April 28, when it struck the girl who had entered the road.
Medics and police rushed to the scene, but the girl had suffered serious injuries and was sadly pronounced dead a short while later.
The driver remained at the scene and no arrests have been made.
Officers from Greater Manchester Police 's Serious Collision Investigation Unit are investigating the incident and say their enquiries are ongoing.
They have appealed for anyone who may have witnessed it to come forward with information.
Detective Constable Thomas Johnson said: 'I firstly want to pass my condolences onto the family of the girl who tragically died following last night's collision.
'The thoughts of everyone from our investigating team are with them and we are continuing to support them where we can. As our work progresses, we are asking for anyone with any information to please come forward.
'You may have witnessed last night's incident, or have relevant CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage. If you can send this to our officers, this would be greatly appreciated as we put together a complete picture of last night's incident.'
Police blocked the road for several hours on Monday evening as the investigation began. An air ambulance was also spotted in the area following the incident.
