Manchester police praise Oasis fans
Oasis fans have been praised by police for their "sensible and responsible" behaviour. The reunited group have played three of their five homecoming shows in Manchester and while Wednesday's (16.07.25) gig saw 12 men arrested for offences including fraud, being drunk and disorderly, and possession of class A drugs, Greater Manchester Police are thankful the "overwhelming majority" of revellers have made no trouble. Assistant Chief Constable Matt Boyle said in a statement: 'We are now three concerts into Oasis' Manchester homecoming, and I am pleased that the overwhelming majority of people attending have enjoyed themselves sensibly and responsibly. 'Our officers have provided a continued high-visibility presence throughout the night, assisting our partners and event security in ensuring a smooth flow of operations, before, during, and after the concert. 'We have tackled any issues that have faced us – seizing unauthorised drones, arresting those attempting to illegally enter the event, and working with colleagues in the ambulance service to help those in need. 'Our neighbourhood teams have engaged with those who live around the event to better understand any problems they have raised, and provide the appropriate solutions where they can. 'Ahead of the weekend, we advise all visitors to make sure they check all updates and information from ourselves and partners, including the Bee Network, Manchester City Council, and event organisers. 'If at any point you require assistance, do not hesitate to speak to an officer in attendance.' Meanwhile, new statistics from ticketing marketplace viagogo found that Londoners only just bought more Oasis tickets than those in Manchester on the platform, but per capita, the fans in the northern city led the way. Following London and Greater Manchester in the top five were Essex, Surrey and Kent. And with demand for tickets being high, the data found UK-based fans are willing to travel huge distances to see Liam and Noel Gallagher in action, with the top destinations being New Jersey, California, Toronto, Chicago, Mexico City and Buenos Aires. When the group's Adidas collaboration dropped on 20 June, viagogo saw a 35% spike in ticket searches for the band on the day.

Ticketless Oasis fans ignore security as they climb fences at Manchester's Heaton Park
Ticketless Oasis fans have been climbing the fences and gathering on 'Gallagher Hill' in attempts to catch a glimpse of Liam and Noel Gallagher as they play to 80,000 people at Heaton Park. Despite tightened security and new fencing around Manchester's Heaton Park, some determined Oasis fans without tickets refused to be kept away as they stormed barriers to see the Gallagher brothers live in action. Liam and Noel Gallagher made their return to their hometown for the third show in front of 80,000 fans. For those who missed out on what are some of the most in demand tickets in music history have managed to still catch a glimpse of the action from a nearby hill. During the shows fans gathered at what's now known as 'Gallagher hill' to soak in the sights and sounds of the legendary band's performance from a distance. After hundreds gathered over the weekend, it seemed police and organisers wanted to crack down on this by placing a large fence in front and blocking the view. However, the large green fence and extra security appeared to do nothing during last night's show, the Mirror reports. Multiple fans were seen climbing over the massive fences as they ignored police warnings and attempted to get into the venue, despite having no ticket. While others decided to stay on Gallagher Hill even with the obstructed view. Eager to catch a glimpse of the Britpop band, some fans climbed trees, while others settled down in the grass with fold out chairs and picnic blankets. Over the weekend, police increased efforts to manage the crowds of ticketless fans in the area attempting to hop the fence in order to see Oasis. Greater Manchester Police reported that six individuals had been arrested for trying to get into the show with "fake accreditation", while others were caught trying to break through the perimeter fencing. Oasis are set to return to Heaton Park for two more shows on 19 and 20 July. Pictures taken at the scene showed one man in handcuffs as one of the Greater Manchester Police officers escorted him away, and another fan was snapped carrying a ladder. Additionally, an image showed a line of police officers standing outside multiple entrances along the perimeter, attempting to stop people getting in for free. However, those watching from a distance at Gallagher Hill were seen to be having the time of their lives as they heard Liam and Noel perform from a distance. Fans gathered on Gallagher Hill caught the attention of Oasis guitarist Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs, who is credited with reuniting Liam and Noel, as he shared a video of fans enjoying the concert from outside the gates. He captioned the post: "No tickets needed," alongside red heart emojis. Greater Manchester Police have advised those without tickets to stay away from Heaton Park. The force added: "We would advise all fans travelling to and from the coming events to ensure they keep an eye out for information from our partners about transport options and road closures, allow enough time to get to the concert, keep hydrated and look out for each other."

The car was left burnt out in a failed plan to destroy any trace of forensic evidence, Greater Manchester Police Sgt Rick Bolt previously said it "was not a random attack" and the victim has been "specifically targeted".He had visited Rahman's home and performed prayers and provided amulets, an object believed to confer protection or fortune, for a family member, he said."Fortunately, the kidnap was captured on CCTV footage, which along with other evidence, led investigation officers to the offenders," Det Sgt Bolto the victim was found in Oldham Road in Rishworth, Sowerby Bridge, a member of the public called emergency services and he was taken to hospital. The Audi was found a few days later after having been deliberately set alight, with forensic testing finding the victim's blood on the back seat. 'Vulnerable, elderly man' Following a police investigation, Rahman and Miah were arrested and answered no comment in their police interviews. They went on to claim that the Imam was the aggressor, but CCTV footage showed the victim being forced into the Audi. Investigators also found dashcam footage from Miah's car which recorded the pair planning the attack. In a statement given to the court, the imam said: "I honestly thought I was going to die."Before this happened, I used to walk to mosque every day by myself with freedom and I would look forward to going. "Now, even though I still walk to mosque by myself, I feel scared in case something like this happens again."He said his physical injuries had left him with impaired hearing and eyesight, as well as pain in his face and problems with his teeth. Det Sgt Bolt said: "This was a particularly shocking crime that targeted a vulnerable elderly man, causing him severe physical and emotional trauma."
