The music is being composed by national award-winning music director Devi Sri Prasad . HC: Specify objectionable scenes in film

Chennai: Madras high court on Wednesday questioned how the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) could deny a censor certificate for the Tamil movie 'Manushi', produced by Vetrimaaran, without specifying the objectionable scenes that could be edited. Justice N Anand Venkatesh directed the CBFC to specify the objectionable scenes, visuals, and dialogues by June 16 or to watch the movie with the producer and point out the objectionable portions to him. The film, starring Andrea, is directed by Gopi Nainar. It is set to revolve around a woman who is arrested on false charges and her plight as an undertrial prisoner. Vetrimaaran moved the court, alleging that the censor board was refusing to certify his film and that he was not allowed to voice his opinion before the CBFC made its decision. In March, a representation was made to the board to form a new committee comprising human rights activists to re-examine the film, which was not considered by the board, he said. The CBFC denied certification to the movie on the grounds that it went against the integrity of the state, contained scenes that were contemptuous, defamed govt policies, portrayed stereotypes leading to a north/south divide, and had many scenes that were against the interests of the country. Music director Ilaiyaraaja composed the music for the film, and veteran actor Nassar played supporting roles in the movie.
