Kate Martin's Blunt Reaction to Gabbie Marshall's Comment on New Post
Golden State Valkyries guard Kate Martin earned a message of support from Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark before the WNBA unfurls on Friday.
The Valkyries will make their debut at Chase Center against the Los Angeles Sparks on opening day.

Martin, who was acquired by Golden State in the expansion draft, posted a few pictures on Instagram to express her excitement for the latest chapter in her young career.
"Lots of history & lots of fun coming soon #Year2 #VsUp," wrote Martin.
Clark, Martin's good friend and former teammate at Iowa, commented "LFG" on the post, which many fans liked.

Their former teammate on the Hawkeyes, Gabbie Marshall, also expressed her support for the 24-year-old Martin with a lighthearted comment.
"You so toot 😍," said Marshall.
"Toot is crazy😂 love you," replied Martin.
The two playmakers spent five seasons together at Iowa, winning three straight Big Ten titles and appearing in back-to-back national title games in the women's NCAA Tournament. Clark, meanwhile, played four seasons with them.

They have all remained close despite parting ways after college. While Clark and Martin went to the WNBA, Marshall decided to retire from basketball to pursue graduate school at North Carolina.
Martin, meanwhile, is eager to play a much bigger role with the Valkyries. She saw limited minutes during her rookie season with the Las Vegas Aces, only averaging 2.6 points and 1.6 rebounds in 11.5 minutes per game.
Golden State split its two preseason games. After beating the Phoenix Mercury, the team lost to the Sparks, 83-82. Martin put up eight points, three rebounds and two steals in 18 minutes off the bench.

Jake Brown Often the middle man of the lineup, Brown went quietly through the regional. He batted .250 with just one extra base hit, which followed a hitless SEC Tournament. Brown's slump follows a six-game hit streak to end the regular season, and he experienced some streakiness throughout the conference slate. He must channel the confidence he felt during the South Carolina and Arkansas series in mid-May. Zac Cowan Cowan can go nowhere but up after his postseason showing so far. Over his last 6.2 innings, his ERA is 14.85. In a start Monday against Little Rock, he exited in the second inning after allowing four earned runs on three hits and two walks. For most of the regular season, Cowan was the SEC's best reliever. He may have been out of his element on Monday and experiencing command issues as of late in his first postseason with LSU. The talent is still there and must come through if the Tigers need to keep a game within reach during the super regional.

Alabama basketball set to face former player, assistant in 2025-26 nonconference schedule Alabama basketball added another opponent to its 2025-26 nonconference slate this week. The Crimson Tide will face the Kennesaw State Owls from Conference USA on Sunday, Dec. 21. The game will be played at a neutral site, Propst Arena in Huntsville. The matchup against the Owls will come against a head coach that Alabama fans know well: former Crimson Tide guard and assistant coach Antoine Pettway. A starter on Alabama's 2004 team that went on a deep NCAA Tournament run to reach the program's first Elite Eight, Pettway will be in his third season as Owls head coach. He previously served as an assistant at Alabama from 2013-23 under Anthony Grant, Avery Johnson and Nate Oats. Pettway guided Kennesaw State to a 19-14 overall record and a 10-8 mark in Conference USA play last season. He had a four-year playing career at Alabama from 2000-01 to 2003-04 under coach Mark Gottfried, averaging 9.1 points per game to go with 3.7 rebounds with 3.5 assists while starting all 33 games his senior season. Oats has put together another loaded nonconference schedule with marquee matchups for 2025-26. The Crimson Tide will face Illinois (in Chicago), Purdue (at Coleman Coliseum), St. John's (Madison Square Garden) and Arizona (in Birmingham), among others. Alabama finished 28-9 last season and advanced to the Elite Eight before falling to Duke in the East Region final in Newark. The former Michigan State Spartans has signed with a team from Israel's top division, according to a post shared by 247Sports' beat reporter Stephen Brooks. Hall played this past season with the Greensboro Swarm and Motor City Cruise of the NBA G League, where he had an impressive rookie season.
