Las Vegas mayor teases new casino for Symphony Park
Las Vegas Mayor Shelley Berkley hyped the new developments and projects in the Symphony Park neighborhood during her State of the City address Wednesday night.
'These projects, along with the new medical office building, plans for a new art museum envisioned by Elaine Wynn and her team,' she said. 'And a casino developed by Derek Stevens on the northeast corner of Symphony Park, are all in our future.'
According to Symphony Park's master plan site map, the new project is titled 'Circa 2 Casino & Resort' and is located a few yards behind the existing Circa Parking Garage, otherwise known as the Garage Mahal.
Clark County records show the 6.42-acre property was purchased in July 2017 by PQ Holdings LLC; it is currently zoned as a planned development.
The parcel appeared to be busy with workers driving onto the Tre Builder's site and walking into a modular building.
The topic of activity and the mayor's announcement turned dog walkers' heads and caused a buzz at the Parc-Haven dog park at Symphony Park.
'I think the area is great, I am from New York, and I'm used to the foot traffic,' Kai Brown, a Symphony Park resident, said. 'I thought [Circa 2] was a residential property, so I don't think a casino is great.'
Parris Golden, a Symphony Park resident, said she liked how the area was quiet for her to walk her dog and said a new casino in the neighborhood would be a game changer.
'It would make me want to move, it would change the whole dynamic of the area,' Golden said. 'Ultimately, that would be a deciding factor.'
A new resident, Miss. Moody, said the series of new projects is what spurred her to buy an apartment on The Cello's fourth floor.
'It wasn't until this came along that I was interested,' Moody said.
Lala Gee, a Symphony Park resident, picked up her dog Benji and said she found the news to be encouraging for the neighborhood.
'Wow, that's exciting to hear, I think that's awesome,' Gee said. 'I think casinos are very good for this community. It brings a lot of people to the neighborhood.'
Gee said she believes 'Circa 2' might bring in more restaurants and fine dining to the densely residential community.
'I believe it brings two different companies,' she said. 'On one side, it's like outgoing, love to see new things and love to travel. This side over here is like, mellow, like to stay in the house.'
8 News Now reached out to Derek Stevens, owner of Circa Resort & Casino, and a company spokesperson regarding the property. A company spokesperson said Circa did not have a comment at this time.

Philipp Plein Resort 2026 Menswear Collection
'When there's a crisis in fashion, brands usually tone down, but some people are still looking for our maximalism and consistency.' So said Philipp Plein over a Zoom call from his villa in Cannes. For resort, he zeroed in on geometric tattoos as inspiration, looking at different artists and old-school aesthetics and translating them into prints, which resulted in a collection of what the designer deemed 'Philipp Plein classics; not too experimental, always very wearable.' Symmetrical tattoo prints were laser-etched on denim trucker jackets and jorts, while shirts had playful, subtle details like skull-shaped buttons. One big novelty was the introduction of bright colors, like the suit and crocodile-printed leather bomber in shiny orange, which contrasted with the earthy tones of sand and chocolate brown. Colorful varsity jackets bore the names of cities where Plein has stores, and denim played a starring role on casual and tailored separates, double-breasted coats, and even duffle bags. Sleek black tailoring decorated with studs in the shape of stars or with multicolored tattoo-inspired patches, and biker jackets almost fully studded in contrasting silver or matte black studs, with intricate embroideries of tattoos, rounded out the collection.

Pair These Autumn Winter Boots To Your Summer Mini Dress For A Cool Girl Outfit Recipe
Summer may not be over yet, but I've already got one eye keenly set on Autumn's sartorial horizon. As the heatwave abates, knee high boots and chore jackets are singing their siren song, though, I'm not quite ready to give up my summer dresses yet. Thankfully, according to Alexa Chung, I don't need to. The broadcaster and style icon has worn multiple iterations of a knee high boot (namely Celine's patent version) plus nightie mini dress (Dôen's Cecilia dress in particular) outfit recipe over summer and I find it very charming. Hero-ing a key trend of the summer - the nightie dress - and adding a 1960s, Françoise Hardy-esque vibe with the boots, Chung ensured her flimsy minis could withstand the every-changing Great British summer. I tried the combination myself, wearing a vintage nightdress I've had shortened with my Dear Frances boots, adding a vintage Mulberry bag and an &Daughter vest for the temperate weather. Chloé's recent Resort collection also features a similar look - with a pair of brown, over-the-knee, heeled boots styled with a silk, lace-trimmed slip-style nightie dress. The pairing is an easy way to make your nightie mini work harder: extending its life from summer into autumn and offering a more polished feel. The Chillest ‘Pokémon' Show Ever Made Returns This September
When Pokémon Concierge released in December 2023, we were immediately charmed by Dwarf Animation's gorgeous, felt-covered spin on the world of Pokémon—and how the series resonated with the franchise's older fans beyond gen-one nostalgia with its themes around work-life balance and burnout to provide the ultimate feel-good show. Now, we won't have to wait much longer to check back into the Pokémon resort once again. During today's Pokémon Presents livestream, the Pokémon Company and Netflix revealed the first full trailer for Concierge season 2. Returning to the island resort, season 2 will follow Haru (Karen Fukuhara/Rena Nōnen) as she continues to thrive, having found her place working at the Pokémon resort, now helping visitors who were once like her find a space to relax and recenter from the hectic surroundings of the urban world. And, of course, the real star of Concierge, Haru's partner Pokémon Psyduck, will also be back and seemingly continue to be an absolute delight. It won't be all sunshine and rainbows though, it seems, as Haru will bump into her ex-boyfriend Kent and his Pokémon Arcanine after he checks into the resort. But we can't imagine Concierge is a show where dramatic conflict lasts particularly long, so there's no doubt they'll probably get along just fine again shortly after their reunion. Pokémon Concierge will return to Netflix for another batch of four episodes September 4. Want more io9 news?
