Ricky Hatton's Comeback Fight Is Set – Here's What We Know About His Opponent originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
At 46 years old, it's been over a decade since Ricky Hatton last fought professionally. That long absence made it easy to assume the former world champion had hung up the gloves for good. His last real run ended in heartbreak, and since then, the boxing world has only seen glimpses—an exhibition here, a rumor there. But now, the noise is growing louder, and something real is on the calendar.

The announcement came during a boxing event in Dubai, with Hatton confirming his return via livestream. The news was first reported by the BBC, which also highlighted the uncertainty surrounding the bout's sanctioning and format.

He was originally slated to appear in person but suffered a minor eye injury caused by his sunglasses—an accident he described as a 'freakish thing.' Despite the setback, the message was clear: Hatton will step back into the ring on December 2 for a middleweight bout in Dubai.
The opponent? Eisa Al Dah, a longtime figure in UAE boxing circles who is also 46 years old, was introduced during the same event. Al Dah holds a professional record of 8 wins and 3 losses, with 4 of those victories coming by way of knockout. His most recent fight was a TKO loss to Pedro Alejandro Delgado in Mexico City back in July 2021. Prior to that, he fought sparingly, with notable wins over opponents like Miguel Angel Munguia and Ignasi Caballero in Dubai.

His bouts have often taken place in the UAE, and while he's not a globally recognized name, he's been an active part of the region's boxing promotion scene. The matchup brings regional intrigue and promotional value. The bout will be contested at middleweight, and while it's being billed as a professional fight, full sanctioning details remain unclear. Think Tyson vs. Paul—shorter rounds, reduced risk, and spectacle over stakes. It's not just a fight—it's a curiosity.
With world titles at two weight classes and a career built on grit and heart, this return revives both nostalgia and curiosity. Hatton's style was never cautious, never polished—just pure chaos and courage. Whether this is a final curtain call or something more, fans now have a date: December 2. The countdown begins.

'Young lion' Daniel Dubois faces unbeaten Oleksandr Usyk in heavyweight title showdown at Wembley

LONDON — There are many reasons why Oleksandr Usyk should beat Daniel Dubois and leave Wembley Stadium as the undisputed world heavyweight champion on Saturday night. The Ukrainian is undefeated as a professional, including a stoppage of Dubois two years ago, and hasn't lost any bout in 16 years. Usyk feasts on British fighters. He dethroned Anthony Joshua at a packed Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in 2021. He won a gold medal at the London Olympics.

Leah Williamson reveals extent of ankle injury as Lionesses look ahead to Euros semi-final

Leah Williamson said she did not know the extent of her injury after she left the pitch in extra time. England battled to a dramatic penalty shootout win over Sweden on Thursday night. After trailing by two at half time, they scored two second-half goals in quick succession to force extra time and, eventually, penalties, where just five of 14 spot-kicks were scored. But Williamson had left the pitch by that stage, having landed awkwardly and rolled her right ankle after challenging for a header. Speaking at full-time, she said she did not know how severe the injury could be. 'It wasn't about me,' she explained. 'A game like that requires you to be at 100% and nobody can put a foot wrong, so it wasn't the time to stay on the pitch, but I don't know.' She continued, saying she was disappointed to have had to watch the shootout from the bench but that she was thrilled with the team's performance. 'I just feel really really proud. That was awful to watch at the end. I just love that we don't ever give up. 'I've said it before. We are never done. We don't believe that we are ever done. The fight back, the quality to turn the game around, then stay in it mentally, just incredible.' Williamson was most proud of her substitutes' performances. Chloe Kelly changed the game on arrival, assisting Lucy Bronze and teeing up Michelle Agyemang in the fw minutes after her introduction. 'You hope to create an environment where everyone is ready and everyone feels valued enough that when it is their time, they can step up and do their job, and that is what you just saw. Everybody covered so much ground, did work for themselves, did their job, and helped out each other. I am so proud of them. 'I said we played three finals in a row now, in terms of if you lose you're going home. We have the proof. Its about turning up and doing the job, so I am a happy girl today.' She laughed off the missed penalties in the shootout, too. Asked how much preparation the squad had put in, she chuckled: 'Loads! I know obviously, there were a few more misses than normal, but that is something you have to do before a tournament. 'There is so much science behind it nowadays. It's the easiest and the hardest thing in the world.'
