Ex-NFL RB LeShon Johnson indicted on federal dogfighting charges
Former NFL running back LeShon Johnson has been charged in a federal dogfighting case after 190 dogs were seized from him in October under the Animal Welfare Act.
Johnson appeared in court last week and is charged with "possessing 190 pit bull-type dogs for use in an animal fighting venture and for selling, transporting, and delivering a dog for use in an animal fighting venture," according to the U.S. Justice Department.
'Animal abuse is cruel, depraved, and deserves severe punishment,' said U.S. Attorney General Pamela Bondi in a statement. 'The Department of Justice will prosecute this case to the fullest extent of the law and will remain committed to protecting innocent animals from those who would do them harm.'

Johnson allegedly ran the dogfighting operation, known as "Mal Kant Kennels," out of Broken Arrow and Haskell, Oklahoma. According to court documents, he bred 'champion' and 'grand champion' fighting dogs to produce offspring with abilities that would allow them to take part in dogfights.
"Johnson marketed and sold stud rights and offspring from winning fighting dogs to other dog fighters looking to incorporate the Mal Kant Kennels 'bloodline' into their own dog fighting operations. His trafficking of fighting dogs to other dog fighters across the country contributed to the growth of the dog fighting industry and allowed Johnson to profit financially."

Johnson, who was arrested March 20 and released on bail, is facing 21 counts and a maximum penalty of five years in prison if convicted, as well as a $250,000 fine for each count.
This is the second time Johnson has faced these types of charges. In 2004, he pleaded guilty to state animal fighting charges after running 'Krazyside Kennels."
Johnson, 54, played five seasons in the NFL with the Green Bay Packers, Arizona Cardinals and New York Giants. His career spanned from 1994-1999 after being a third-round draft pick out of Northern Illinois.

Arkesh Ray of Atlanta Falcons on SI has suggested that the team could consider signing former Green Bay Packers star cornerback Jaire Alexander, who was recently released by the Packers. "With major injury concerns and an inability to stay on the field as of late, Alexander would not be able to demand a huge contract. If the Falcons are able to bring him on a cheap deal, they should consider it, providing competition and depth at outside corner," Ray wrote. "With Alexander's injury history and matador tackling, Alexander could still fit a coverage role that should be even more valuable with an upgraded pass rush." Adding a piece like Alexander could be the fix that the Falcons' defense needs. If he can return to full health and stay healthy, he's still more than capable of being one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL. Last season with Green Bay, Alexander showed off what he's capable of in the seven games he did play. He recorded 16 total tackles, one fumble recovery, two interceptions, a defensive touchdown, and seven defended passes. That's where he would stay as long as he's healthy enough to play. While the concerns about his health could scare teams off, the Falcons would be taking on little to no risk. On a one-year contract, Atlanta could simply move on if things didn't work out after the 2025 season. They may not have an interest in Alexander, but the Falcons are a team to keep an eye on. Arrest warrant issued for former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown on attempted murder
A warrant has been issued for the arrest of former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown on a charge of attempted murder. CNN affiliate WSVN previously reported the news and has since provided a copy of the warrant to CNN. Authorities in Miami-Dade County are seeking to arrest Brown after gunshots were fired at an amateur boxing event in May. CNN has contacted the Miami Police Department for comment. CNN has also contacted Brown for comment. In a post on X on Friday, Brown posted a video of himself on a bicycle, with the hashtag '#lovefromthemiddleeast.' Brown posted on X last month that he had been 'jumped by multiple individuals who tried to steal my jewelry and cause physical harm to me.' He said police released him after hearing his side of the story. Videos posted on social media showed a chaotic scene – including crowds running from what sounds like two gunshots. According to the warrant, an off-duty officer working inside the venue where the event was being held went outside where people had told him there had just been gunshots. Once outside, he said he saw Brown in a fight with another man. Per the warrant, 'several' people attending the event told the officer that Brown had been the shooter, although police did not find a weapon on Brown when he was patted down. The warrant states that officers found two spent shell casings and an empty gun holster at the scene. According to the warrant, detectives later determined through surveillance footage at the venue and speaking to witnesses that Brown punched a man during a 'large physical altercation,' and 'several other individuals' started to attack the man until security intervened. The warrant says that Brown later appeared to take the gun of a security officer and ran after the man he had punched, who had just walked away from the enclosed area. Cell phone video obtained from social media shows Brown with the gun in his hand approaching the man, and the video captures sound of two gunshots, according to the warrant. Brown played for the Pittsburgh Steelers from 2010 to 2018, where he emerged as one of the NFL's top receiving threats and twice led the league in receiving yards. He was later traded to the Oakland Raiders, who released him from his contract after various on- and off-the-field issues before the start of the 2019 season. He split his final three NFL seasons with New England and Tampa Bay, and his career ended with Brown stripping off his jersey, pads and gloves, while walking off the field during the Buccaneers' 2021 Week 17 game against the New York Jets. "Obviously, George really opens up things for all those other receivers [alongside CeeDee Lamb]. I think it just gives them a safety net to go earn, and to play free, and to go make a huge jump. Guys like [Jonathan] Mingo and [Jalen] Tolbert, and the way the [running] backs have approached this thing, I'm super excited." Prescott might be poised to get the Cowboys in the title hunt, but getting to the mountaintop won't be easy. While they were seeking out upgrades in the offseason, so were the teams around them. Surviving their division is going to be a tall task itself, as the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders are also primed to contend. Only time will tell if Prescott is able to return to his old self and put Dallas in a position to achieve the ultimate goal.
