What you need to know about the Swiatek vs. Anisimova Wimbledon finals

A new Wimbledon champion in women's tennis is now close to her crowning moment, and the winner will be between No. 8 seed Iga Swiatek and No. 13 seed Amanda Anisimova.
For the former World No. 1, Swiatek would mark her sixth Grand Slam title and her first championship since the 2024 French Open if she were to win. On the other hand, Anisimova proved that she was a tough contender in the tournament to reach her first Grand Slam final. Iga Swiatek didn't expect to do well on grass courts before. However, she did her best and played her best grass season so far.
When she lost the Roland Garros and dropped in the rankings, she worked hard with her team to improve her movement on the grass courts. Now, she has won nine matches on the said surface and reached her first grass final at Bad Homburg. This makes Wimbledon her second grass final this season.
At this year's tournament, she only lost one set early and won against strong athletes, including her impressive win over Belinda Bencic in the semifinals.
Amanda Anisimova missed last season's Wimbledon due to her hiatus. Ever since her long break, she has shown improvements, as evidenced by her ranking, from 189th, now in the Top 20. This year, she reached her first finals match in Canada and also won in Doha. Moreover, she played very well on the grass courts, finishing second at the Queen's Club.
At Wimbledon, Anisimova won against World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinals, marking a huge achievement in her sporting career.
For the eighth consecutive tournament, Wimbledon will crown a new ladies' singles champion. The most recent woman to win back-to-back titles was Serena Williams, who secured her seventh Wimbledon singles crown in 2016.
By reaching the finals, Swiatek and Anisimova will now earn at least 1,300 points in the PIF WTA Rankings and the Race to the WTA Finals Riyadh. They also have £1,520,000 (S$2,644,800) as their prize money. The winner of the singles title will boost those numbers to 2,000 points and earn a prize of £3,000,000.
