Researcher Ibrahim Al-Shujaifi's PhD in English from Sana'a University

Researcher Ibrahim Saif Al-Shujaifi received a doctoral degree with distinction in English language from the Faculty of Languages at Sana'a University, for his thesis titled "Evaluating the quality of translation of cultural terms in Abdul Wahab Al-Maqaleh's translation of Dave Eggers' The Monk of Mokha and Hermann Hesse's Rosshalde".
The discussion and judging committee, headed by Dr. Qaid Farea, external discussant, and including Dr. Mohammed Al-Aqili, internal discussant, and Dr. Ibrahim Al-Berihi, supervisor of the thesis, praised the researcher's efforts and the results of the thesis.
The discussion was attended by a number of faculty members at the College of Languages and the translator of the two novels, Dr. Abdul Wahab Al-Maqaleh.

London - Saba: English language professor Leah Veronese found a manuscript copy of William Shakespeare's Sonnet No. 116 in a collection of texts dating back to the seventeenth century, and it differs slightly from the original version. Veronese discovered, while conducting research in the old Bodleian Library at Oxford University, an amazing poem dating back to the seventeenth century. It soon turned out that it was a manuscript copy of a musical adaptation of William Shakespeare's Sonnet 116. The adapted version differs from the original at the beginning and end, and contains additional lines. Veronese said: "These additional lines may have been used to lengthen the song or to express political motives." It is worth noting that early modern poetry was often distributed in written collections, and in this case, as the research showed, the collection also contained several original poems by the poet Elias Ashmole. However, when one of his poems was examined by Dr. Veronese, it turned out to be a strange copy of Sonnet 116. The catalogue accompanying the collection was only prepared in the 19th century. It turned out that the description of the works in the collection was not accurate. The poem itself was not described accurately, as it was classified in the catalogue as a work "On the Constancy of Love". In addition, Shakespeare was not mentioned in the catalogue. For this reason, the manuscript, which turned out to be a copy of Sonnet 116, remained undiscovered for many years. Moreover, it turned out that the discovered manuscript represents a modified version of Shakespeare's sonnet, which differs from the original sonnet. This means that we can now read additional lines that we did not know about before.

Yemeni Writers & Writers Union mourns Saleh Ba'amer's death
Sana'a - Saba: The General Secretariat of the Union of Yemeni Writers and Writers mourned the death of Saleh Ba'amer, who passed away at the age of 78, during which he contributed to Yemeni literature with a wealth of creative works. The obituary statement, which was received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), praised the late author's legacy of publications that represent qualitative additions to the Yemeni narrative, especially in the field of short stories and novels. His departure is a great loss to contemporary Yemeni literature. The statement expressed sincere condolences and sympathy to his family and all his colleagues, friends and lovers. We pray to God Almighty to have mercy and forgiveness on the deceased, to grant his family and relatives patience and solace. "May God have mercy and forgiveness." He held many tasks and positions, most notably: Director of Aden Radio and Television in 1970, Editor-in-Chief of Al-Sharara newspaper in Mukalla in 1974, Director of the Culture Office in Hadramawt Province in 1990, Editor-in-Chief of Afaq magazine issued by the Yemeni Writers and Writers Union branch in Hadramawt in 1994, 2002, 2003, and Editor-in-Chief of Mukalla magazine issued by the Ministry of Culture office in Mukalla. His story "Dancing by Moonlight" was translated into English and included in an anthology of modern Arabic literature in 1988, and he has five story collections, namely: The Dream of a Yemeni Mother - 1983, Dahum al-Mashqasi - 1993, The Possibilities of Change - 2002, When the Palace Spoke - 2005, Far from Protocol - 2004.
