It is understood workers at sites in Coventry, Lincoln and Skelmersdale could also lose their jobs.
Should staff be made redundant, some will be offered alternative roles within PepsiCo.
A PepsiCo UK spokesperson said: "We recently told our teams that we will be consulting on proposed changes to our operational structure, affecting a proportion of employees at our snacks manufacturing sites in the UK, including Leicester.
"No decisions will be made without first consulting affected employees and their representatives.
"Our priority is providing support for our people throughout this process.
'The changes being proposed are intended to bring our UK sites in line with a different operating structure we have had success with at some of our other international sites, leading to better ways of working and increased technical capabilities.'
The news, as first reported by Leicester Live, comes after US food giant PepsiCo announced a £24million investment in its Lincoln factory in 2021.
In 2023, it pumped £58million into its Leicester site then the a further £13milion into its Coventry site last year.
In total, the business has invested £140million into its UK sites since 2020, including £20million in 2024.
It is not all bad news for Walkers lovers though, as the crisp brand recently brought out a new flavour.
Shoppers can now get their hands on Red Leicester flavour Quavers from Premier stores.
The never-before-seen flavour joins other fan favourites such as Cheese, Prawn Cocktail and BBQ.
OTHER JOB CUTS
Santander has cut more than 2,000 UK jobs as part of a major restructuring - with more redundancies potentially on the way.

I asked Virgin Media to cancel my broadband contract when I moved house – it still owes me £574

Got money problems? We can help fight for your cash back or challenge the way firms operate. Email money@ ASK ADELE I asked Virgin Media to cancel my broadband contract when I moved house – it still owes me £574 Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Q. In March my wife and I moved out of our home in Eastleigh, Hampshire, to a property in Bembridge on the Isle of Wight. We needed to cancel our 18 month broadband contract with Virgin Media as the company doesn't provide a service on the Isle of Wight. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 1 Consumer Champion Adele Cooke solves your money issues We were told that we couldn't pay an early exit penalty to do so. Virgin Media said it would take £545 as a direct debit in March and this would be credited to our account in April. It said it would also refund our account balance of £29.34 at the same time. The direct debit was taken but we never received the refund. We have called Virgin Media several times to chase the money but have had no luck. This is a huge amount of money and it is giving us a lot of worry. We have been loyal Virgin Media customers for the last 25 years and feel very let down. Please will you help us? Chris Hebbes, Isle of Wight. A. I was disappointed to hear about how Virgin Media had treated you, it's a real kick in the teeth as you've been customers for more than 25 years. In general, if you decide to cancel your broadband contract before it ends then you will usually need to pay an exit fee. The exact amount you will be charged depends on your provider. It will usually involve paying off the remaining months of your contract, plus the cost of any equipment you were given, such as your router. But there are a few reasons why you may be able to leave your deal early. These include if your provider has increased your bill, your broadband is slow or you have an issue that your provider has not solved. In your situation, you should have been able to cancel your contract for free as the service is not available in the Isle of Wight. Virgin Media knows the rules, so I was surprised that it had not refunded you. When I contacted the firm, its customer service team got in touch with you immediately to apologise for the delay in sending your refund. As the amount you are owed was more than £500, your case should have been escalated to a team manager before it was issued. In your case the refund was not escalated so your refund was not processed. Virgin Media has now sent you a cheque for £674, which includes a £100 gesture of goodwill. The money should be with you in the next ten working days. I am glad I was able to resolve this issue for you and hope you can now focus on getting settled in your new home. Squeeze team total: £226,802. Do you have a money problem that needs sorting? The discounter was bought for a nominal £1 fee in June by US investment firm Gordon Brothers. What's happened at Poundland? Poundland's Polish owner Pepco put the business up for sale in March as it looked to offload the brand. The discounter was then bought for a nominal £1 fee in June by US investment firm Gordon Brothers. It came following weak sales over the previous six months and a downgrade to the brand's trading guidance for the year. The retailer's revenues dropped by 6.5% to £830million for the six months to March compared with a year earlier. As part of the deal that was struck with Pepco, which owns Poundland, Gordon Brothers is plotting a major restructuring of the business. It has also pumped £80million of financing into the retailer. This is what was proposed in June: Closing 68 stores and negotiating rent reductions at a number of other locations Getting rid of frozen food products at all stores where they're currently sold Reducing the number of chilled food items sold Closing its frozen and digital distribution centre in Darton, South Yorkshire, later this year Closing its national distribution centre in Bilston, West Midlands, in early 2026 No longer selling products on its website Providing more womenswear and seasonal ranges There are currently 800 Poundland stores in operation across the UK, with plans to bring this down to 650 to 700. This includes the list of 68 which are closing as part of the restructuring deal and other branches shutting gradually as leases expire.

I thought I'd be renting forever after my family had to move, then I bagged a £500k house for a fiver on Facebook

Nathan Bayliss admits that his wife didn't believe him when he shared the good news HOUSE THAT I thought I'd be renting forever after my family had to move, then I bagged a £500k house for a fiver on Facebook Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A DAD who thought he'd never own a home again after selling his family's house nearly a decade ago has just won £500,000 to buy his dream farmhouse – all thanks to a £5 raffle ticket he entered without telling his wife. Nathan Bayliss, 46, had spent the past eight years renting after making the tough decision to sell their home and relocate across Wales for better job prospects. Pictured: Stock image Credit: Getty 'We gave up our home thinking we'd get back on the ladder again,' said Nathan, a Yard Manager and Slinger Signaller. 'But house prices just kept going up, and the wages where we live are so low – it became impossible. 'We were lost, really. I didn't think we'd ever own again.' The father-of-two describes feeling 'completely stuck' as the housing market accelerated beyond reach, a situation made worse by his low-income area being a holiday hotspot, pushing local prices even higher. 'It's just not affordable where we are. Wages are low, and the area's so popular with tourists that it drives everything up.' Then came a glimmer of hope in the form of a Facebook post. Drawn in by heartwarming stories of real people winning homes, Nathan entered a prize draw from Tramway Path, a competition company run by brothers Jason, Will, and Daniel Twenefour. He quietly bought a single £5 ticket - without telling his wife. 'I'm into property anyway - I'm always scrolling Rightmove, just dreaming,' he said. 'I came across the raffle and loved how realistic it was – it wasn't some fantasy prize, it was something people like me could genuinely win.' Ramona bags Tramway Path grandprize of a £500k home So when the phone rang with the life-changing news, Nathan's reaction was understandably explosive. 'I was shell-shocked. I was jumping up and down shouting, 'We've got a house!'' he recalled. 'My wife looked at me and said, 'They're having you on – go and calm yourself down.' The kids believed her too. 'Who would believe something like that? It felt like a blessing.' It wasn't until the family saw the congratulatory comments online that they started to believe it was real. 'That's when it clicked with my wife,' he added. 'We were all emotional. I nearly went.' Nathan says he already knew exactly what he wanted; a four-bed detached farmhouse in a tiny hamlet near his current job in rural Wales. 'We did try to look at newer homes – we were trying to be sensible – but nothing felt right,' he said 'Then we saw this one with history and character and just fell in love. It had two chimneys, a double garage, a driveway. It's perfect. 'We won't be moving again. This is our forever home.' The property is located just nine miles from Nathan's work, nestled in a quiet countryside community. The news couldn't have come at a more ironic moment, Nathan had just been revising for a health and safety course to try and improve his salary. 4 'I was doing it to earn more so we could maybe buy in future - then the phone rang,' he said. 'It's mad how life turns.' Now mortgage-free and days away from completing the purchase, Nathan is overwhelmed with gratitude. 'For any bloke trying to provide for his family, this is the dream – to give them a home where they feel safe and secure,' he said. 'It's not just the prize. It's what it means. 'It feels like the community gave us this gift – almost like they crowdfunded a miracle. I'll never forget that.' And for Nathan, it's more than just keys to a new house; it's reclaiming a dream he thought had slipped away. 'I used to scroll through houses just to dream. Now we're going to live in one, and not just any house, but the one we always hoped for,' he said. 'It's more than a home. It's getting our future back.'
