New York man sexually abused teen before dumping body, prosecutors say
A New York man has been charged with sexually abusing a 15-year-old boy weeks after police say he was arrested for leaving the teenager's dead body on a sidewalk in Westchester County.
Hugo Horacio Perez-Gabriel first appeared in court on charges of concealing a human corpse in the death of Jonson Temaj, who was found unresponsive in New Rochelle in early February.
Suspect requested sexual material from boy via WhatsApp, prosecutors say
According to a new felony complaint, Perez-Gabriel, 32, previously requested sexual material from a boy on WhatsApp and received two videos. The Westchester County District Attorney's Office confirmed the videos were sent by the boy who was found dead.
"The allegations in this complaint are extremely disturbing. The fact that this same defendant was previously charged in connection with the dumping of a 15-year-old boy's corpse makes this case all the more horrific. My office is working around the clock to find out what happened to this boy, and I am committed to delivering justice to his family," a statement by Westchester County District Attorney Susan Cacace said.
The teenager's body was discovered near Charles Street and Washington Avenue on Feb. 6. In addition to Perez-Gabriel, a 16-year-old was arrested in connection with the death.
According to the Westchester DA's office, the new charges against Perez-Gabriel include two counts each of Use of a Child in a Sexual Performance, Disseminating Indecent Material to Minors and Possessing an Obscene Sexual Performance by a Child.
The cause of the boy's death remains under investigation.

( — A bill that could ban the sale of the most popular handgun in the U.S. is potentially on its way to becoming law after it passed through the California State Assembly on Tuesday. Assembly Bill 1127, also referred to by many people as the Glock Ban Bill, was authored by Jesse Gabriel (D-Encino) and would prohibit licensed firearms dealers from selling guns that can be 'easily converted by hand or with common household tools' into a machine gun. Although the Glock isn't specifically mentioned in the written legislation, it falls into that category of firearms. New gun laws won't be enforced by Sutter County Sheriff's Office 'I am pleased to be presenting AB 1127, which will protect communities from mass shootings and gun violence by encouraging gun manufacturers to prevent the conversion of their firearms to dangerous automatic weapons,' Gabriel said during an Assembly Standing Committee hearing. He continued, 'Automatic weapons are exceptionally lethal and capable of firing hundreds of rounds per minute. They are illegal in California. Unfortunately, some semi-automatic firearms feature a dangerous design flaw that allows them to be converted to fully automatic weapons through an attachment of a cheap and easy-to-use device, known as a switch.' In 2022, a converted Glock was reportedly used in a mass shooting that occurred just blocks from the California State Capitol Building. It left six people dead and several others injured. 'Sadly, certain companies in the gun industry have known about this issue for decades and have done nothing meaningful to address it,' Gabriel said. 'This common-sense legislation will ensure that the gun industry is held accountable and that we're doing everything we possibly can to protect our communities from mass shootings.' AB 1127 is supported by organizations like Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund, and Voices for Progress. However, other groups such as the National Association for Gun Rights and Gun Owners of California Inc. are in opposition. 'AB 1127 is a blatant attack on your right to own one of the most common self-defense firearms in America,' Gun Owners of California said on social media before the bill passed through the Assembly. 'This bill targets semiautomatic pistols used by millions of law-abiding gun owners—and it's being pushed under the false pretense of 'safety'.' NAGR vowed to fight back against the proposed legislation. 'California (is) pushing rapidly towards a total ban of Glock pistols,' NAGR said on social media. 'The most popular firearm in the country. USDOJ says 3 Mexican nationals face charges from Cobb County meth lab bust
Three 'illegal aliens from Mexico' face charges following a methamphetamine lab bust in Cobb County. One is still on the run. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Juan Perez-Maldonado, Francisco Garcia Gomez and Filemon Hernandez-Jijon were charged after a federal operation on June 3. Officials said Drug Enforcement Administration agents saw Hernandez-Jijon allegedly supply two kilograms of meth to a drug customer in Smyrna. Then, they watched as Hernandez-Jijon go back and forth from a Marietta mobile home. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] DEA agents got a search warrant for the mobile home and found Perez-Maldonado and Garcia Gomez, while a third person ran from the scene. Inside, agents found an active meth lab being used to convert liquid methamphetamine into a crystal-like form and at least 13 kilograms of what looked like the finished drug product, USDOJ said. Agents also found two handguns, including one that was hidden in the tank of a toilet, as well as money remitter receipts with Garcia Gomez's and Hernandez-Jijon's names, according to the Justice Department. Also in the apartment, agents found a Springfield XD firearm and mechanical press used to turn powder into kilogram bricks, according to USDOJ. As the investigation continued, agents found that Perez-Maldonado and Hernandez-Jijon had already been deported and removed from the United States earlier. While Perez-Maldonado and Garcia Gomez appeared in court on Wednesday for charges of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, officials said Hernandez-Jijon is currently a fugitive. Body found in wooded area in search for missing teenager Cole Cooper
A body has been found in the search for a teenager who went missing in early May. Cole Cooper, 19, was last seen by a school friend on Wednesday 7 May, in the village of Longcroft near Falkirk, in central Scotland. Mr Cooper was reported missing by his family on Friday 9 May. Police Scotland said the body was discovered in a wooded area near Kilsyth Road in Banknock on Friday afternoon. "Formal identification has yet to take place however the family of missing man Cole Cooper, 19, has been informed," the force said in a statement. "Enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances." Read more from Sky News Speaking to Sky News Breakfast earlier this week, his brother Connor said their family felt "lost" and described his sibling's disappearance as "hell... for all of us". He described him going missing as "very much out of character" and that "even if his brother wanted some space or alone time" he would have notified family or friends beforehand - and would never "put his younger siblings through this". His mother Wendy Stewart described the situation as "total heartache" and was afraid he may have been "picked up by a car" and come to harm. "Is it actually happening?" she said. "I have been wanting to wake up and it's just been a big nightmare." After police got involved in the search, they visited more than 220 properties and trawled through around 1,000 hours of CCTV footage in a bid to find Mr Cooper. Specialist resources from across the country were mobilised, including a helicopter and drones from the air support unit, as well as officers from the dive and marine unit.
