ROSS McCAUSLAND insists he made the right decision to leave Rangers.
The Northern Irishman, 22, quit his boyhood club at the beginning of the month to seal a loan move to Aris Limassol and will join the Cypriot club permanently next summer.

Ross McCausland speaks to SunSport
He spent six years in Glasgow after being snapped up from Linfield as a youngster in 2019, but only enjoyed brief spells as a regular starter in the first team near the end of his stint.
Leaving the Govan giants wasn't a decision he took lightly, but he quickly realised his time was coming to an end when the new Russell Martin era was beginning to take shape this summer.
But McCausland will always cherish the memories he made in Glasgow.
After making his debut for Aris Limassol in 2-2 draw against AEK Athens in the first leg of their Uefa Conference League qualifier last night, McCausland told SunSport: "Playing for Rangers was something I always wanted to do.
"Sometimes, though, that's not the case and you can't hold onto things.
"I wish (my time) at Rangers would have went better but that wasn't the case.
"Minutes (on the pitch) is something I need at my age and I wasn't getting that at Rangers.
"I had a good chat with Russell (Martin) when he came in and that was the decision we made (for me to leave) and I'm glad we made that decision."
McCausland was involved in the first pre-season fixture against Club Brugge and featured in two friendlies behind closed doors against Dunfermline and Hamilton Accies - scoring against the latter.
But when Rangers travelled down south to the home of English football at St George's Park, the winger was left out of the squad altogether for the 1-1 draw with Barnsley.
The new Rangers transfer special looks at John Souttar's future, Rangers' defensive search and if it's the end of Nicolas Raskin
That's when he realised his time was up in Glasgow.
He said: "I would say after St George's was when I knew it was going to happen.
"You get a bit of wind that it's going to happen and you just need to prepare yourself for that.
"After not getting regular game time the last couple of months, I think that prepared my mind that it was going to be the case.
"Look, it happened and it's not really fazed me. I'm here to do well and move on."
McCausland might no longer be a Rangers player, but he will remain a Rangers fan for the rest of his days.
He watched on as Martin's men got off to a flier in the Champions League third round qualifier against Viktoria Plzen with a remarkable 3-0 win in the first leg at Ibrox.
He was blown away by the performance and even had special praise for two men who replaced him at Ibrox - Djeidi Gassama and Oliver Antman.

The winger continued: "I watched the full game. It's something I'm going to do, watch all the games if I can.
"I don't think that's ever going to leave me. It's something that will live with me for the rest of my life.
"I thought they were excellent. The two wingers - in my position obviously - were excellent, I thought."
But now McCausland begins a new chapter of his career in new surroundings in Cyprus.
Some things do remain the same, though, as he's linked up with two old friends in Limassol - and two former Ibrox colleagues no less.
The wide-man had interest from the MLS and other clubs in Europe, but the lure of working with Connor Goldson and Leon Balogun again was too much to turn down.

But before he could answer why he opted for Aris over other clubs, McCausland was interrupted by Balogun who laughed: "Because I'm here!"
Then when the winger was asked if the pair did help convince him to make the move, he replied: "Yeah, for sure. Familiar faces.
"I think when I narrowed them down - obviously a lot of interest from America as well - I felt here is a great way of living.
"It's a different lifestyle and a completely different way of living.
"Taking that step while I'm young, when I don't have any liabilities and stuff like that. I'm looking forward to the challenge."
He was thrown into the deep end last night as he made his debut from the start in a tough tie against AEK Athens.
And it looked like his European dream with his new club was over just as it began as Aris plunged to a 2-0 deficit after just 12 MINUTES in their home leg.

A remarkable comeback saw them pull it back level in the first half, though, and the tie is there for the taking in Athens next week.
He said: "I think it's just trying to keep calm. We've got so many experiences boys at the back - Connor and Leon.
"You just need to rely on them in a way and try to bring an impact to the game yourself.
"At times it was tough to get up the pitch but I think in terms of how the team played, we showed great quality to get back into the game and it puts us in a good spot for next week."
And they certainly relied on Rangers hero Goldson as the stand-in skipper rifled home the equaliser with a stunning volley - that even caught the defender by surprise, according to McCausland.
Asked if he knew the defender had a goal like that in his locker, McCausland replied: "I've never seen it, no, to be fair! I was standing right behind it and it was an absolute screamer!
"I don't think he could believe either."

Rangers and Hibs lead coefficient turbo boost and Jury fancies Dundee Utd's chances too

Record Sport's top team run the rule over the big questions facing Scottish football to kick off your weekend How do you now rate the Euro qualification chances of Rangers, Hibs and Dundee United? CRAIG SWAN: Surely Rangers and Hibs have done enough with their superb first-keg displays. United are still in a dogfight, but what a wonderful chance they have given themselves after a superb effort in Vienna. ‌ FRASER WILSON: A strong chance for a co-efficient turbo-boosting triple. And what a shot in the arm that would be for Scottish football. Rangers should ease through in Plzen and Hibs will have the know-how to finish off Partizan in Leith. The big question is can Dundee United beat Rapid Vienna at home over 90 minutes? The evidence of Thursday's first leg suggests they have a great chance. ‌ SCOTT BURNS: Rangers and Hibs will definitely go through. Hopefully, Dundee United will make it the perfect hat-trick. Their tie is still in the balance and we saw what happened to Hibs after a good result in the away leg. ‌ Do Rangers have to keep hold of Cyriel Dessers? CRAIG: The Nigerian international has proven himself at Ibrox and, as well as goals, he has the strength and link-up play to bring flying wingers into the game. Yes. FRASER: Unless they bring in a new goal threat then absolutely. From the early season evidence he remains the best striker at the club - and that from just one start. SCOTT: I would take the money, if it was right. Yes, he scores goals but he also passes up too many chances. He is also getting to an age where they have to maximise his value. Does Luke McCowan deserve a Celtic start at Aberdeen? CRAIG: The midfielder is building a happy knack of making a real impact from the bench in terms of assists and goals. It's a tricky call for Brendan Rodgers. McCowan is worthy to start, but his ability to influence late is also key. FRASER: Probably after last week's match winning appearance off the bench. But a knee-jerk reaction to one average performance on match day one might not be right here. McCowan could be useful as an option off the bench again if things aren't going Celtic's way at Pittodrie. ‌ SCOTT: The midfielder is always there or thereabouts. This is the type of game where he could easily make an impact, but if I was a betting man I would say he will be on the bench. Tony Bloom says Hearts will win a title within ten years... Is he right? CRAIG: It is hard to argue against an individual with such an impressive track record in all walks of his life. One thing is for sure, it would breathe serious life into Scottish football. FRASER: No. But it's great to hear ambition. Hearts will strengthen and appointing Derek McInnes as manager is every bit as important as Bloom's arrival. They will win silverware. But the league? Celtic and Rangers will strengthen over the same time frame so it's just too big a leap unfortunately. SCOTT: We all love a bit of belief and confidence. The neutral would love to see them smash Celtic's monopoly. I am not convinced, but it would be great for our game, if it was to happen.

St Mirren v Motherwell: I expect a battle in Paisley, says Motherwell boss

Jens Berthel Askou expects a scrap for points at St Mirren on Saturday Jens Berthel Askou says Motherwell have to win the battle before the game at St Mirren on Saturday. ‌ Danish boss Askou expects a very different game in Paisley to their league opener at home to Rangers, which ended in a 1-1 draw on Saturday. ‌ Askou anticipates a strong, physical tussle at St Mirren, but also be fully tested, against a side that pushed Celtic close before losing 1-0 on Sunday. ‌ He said: 'We finished the game on Monday, in terms of watching what we did well and what we need to improve, and we know this week's game is going to be a very different type of football game. 'We face an opponent who has some very different strengths, and methods, and approach to the game as Rangers would, which will give us some other challenges. 'That means we've tried to prepare for that, while still focusing on ourselves and the way we want to approach the game, and how to get as much as possible on our terms – that's the key for us. ‌ 'We know there are going to be moments when we have to fight, physically, and duel with them. It's hard to take that out of a game when you play against St Mirren. 'There are going to be times when we will have to be very patient, in possession, in order to open them up, because they're very well structured, they work extremely hard, and close the space very well. ‌ 'We saw that against Celtic, when they played a very good game, and were able to keep Celtic away from a lot of big chances for most of the game. 'They have that physicality that they can apply in the game at all times. They have the ability to really make it physical in your box, and put some pressure on there with some direct play, and a lot of crosses. ‌ 'We need to be able to deal with that in a very good way and be strong, and from there, try and make it a game where we're in control.' Askou added: 'There are a lot of different approaches to the game up here that you need to be able to deal with, against a team in the bottom end of the table, a mid-table team, but also as a top team. 'It means that you can't just be able to play in one phase or two phases of the game, because you need to be able to be good in most phases of the game, and it sets really high demands, and you have to be able to get the game as much on your terms as possible. 'I think we've been better and better at that in the games, and Saturday is going to be a very big test.'

Sheffield United vs Bristol City Championship prediction, odds and betting offer

Sheffield United host Bristol City as both sides begin new eras after playoff heartbreak last season The new Championship season gets underway on Saturday night at Bramall Lane as Sheffield United welcome Bristol City. Both clubs endured painful playoff exits last term and will be eager to set a positive tone with new managers at the helm. Sheffield United's return to the second tier was marked by a third-place finish, despite a two-point deduction. The Blades ended well clear of fourth-placed Sunderland but ultimately fell short in the playoffs—outclassing Bristol City over two legs before suffering late heartbreak against Sunderland in the final. The club has since moved on from Chris Wilder, appointing former Reading boss Ruben Selles to lead their promotion push. Bristol City also experienced a turbulent end to their campaign. They clinched the final playoff spot by just two points ahead of Blackburn Rovers but were comfortably beaten by Sheffield United in the semi-finals. With Liam Manning departing, Austrian manager Gerhard Struber now takes charge at Ashton Gate, tasked with building on last year's progress. Both sides will be eager to put recent disappointments behind them and show progress under new leadership. Sheffield United supporters will hope Selles can restore momentum and guide them back to the Premier League, while Bristol City fans are keen to see how Struber's style translates in English football. With memories of last season's semi-final still fresh and both teams determined to improve, Saturday's clash promises intensity and intrigue under the lights at Bramall Lane. The outcome could offer an early indication of which side is best placed to challenge for promotion once again.
