Interacting with journalists in Chennai, Dr. Ramadoss confirmed he did meet with RSS ideologue and Thuglak editor S. Gurumurthy again in Chennai (following an earlier meeting in his native town), but refused to reveal whether discussions with him and with Dr. Anbumani, were fruitful.
PMK's party constitution
Sources in the party said Dr. Ramadoss is seeking larger share of the powers to operate while asking Dr. Anbumani to continue as the 'working president'. Dr. Anbumani has reportedly agreed to allow his father to take the lead in deciding the electoral alliance and negotiating the seats while he wished to remaining as the party's 'president', a post to which he was earlier anointed unanimously.

'Dr. Ayya (Ramadoss) wants powers to sign Form A and Form B too, which would give him powers over selection of candidates and make appointments. But, Dr. Anbumani wants to be allowed to continue as president and make appointments within the party,' said a senior leader.
In the party's bylaws, Rule 13 states that party founder should be invited and his guidance is necessary to call for the general council and executive council meetings.
However, Rule 15 explicitly states the party president, appointed by the general council, will head the party's political committee, executive council, general council, and state conference and has the powers to control the party's funds, properties owned by the party and its bank accounts.
Rule 12 states that the general council will consist of district presidents, district secretaries, treasurer, vice-president, deputy secretary and area secretaries at the Union, Town Panchayats, municipal corporations and corporations along with representatives from linguistic, religious, and caste-based minorities.
The executive council will consist of party president, general secretary, treasurer, organisation secretary, deputy general secretaries, vice-presidents, headquarters secretaries, disciplinary action committee members, property protection group and district presidents and secretaries make up the party's executive council.
A senior leader says while it is true that general council has to be held in the presence of the party founder and its affairs conducted under his guidance, it is not binding on the general council to accept his guidance or decisions.
'The president continues to have the powers to appoint office bearers, which makes up the general council. Ultimately, the general council can reject his guidance. This is perhaps why Doctor Ayya began removing and re-appointing district president, secretaries and other office bearers. But, I don't think he (Dr. Ramadoss) has the powers to do it,' he added.

Bangkok/Phnom Penh: Thailand and Cambodia confirmed on Saturday that army representatives of the two countries held a special meeting of the Thailand-Cambodia Regional Border Committee (RBC) in Thailand's Trat province on the same day. According to the Thai Navy, the commander of Chanthaburi and Trat border defence command of the Thai side and the commander of Cambodia's military region 3 held the meeting to settle relevant issues through peaceful means, thus maintaining peace in border areas and well-being of the peoples of both countries. The two sides signed a memorandum of understanding following the meeting, the Thai Navy said, Xinhua news agency reported. Cambodian Defence Ministry's Undersecretary of State and spokesperson Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata said on Saturday that chiefs of Cambodian and Thai military regions held a special meeting on the same day to discuss border issues following a ceasefire. This meeting reaffirmed the importance of maintaining regular communication between armed forces of military regions of the two countries as well as between border defence units of the two sides, striving to resolve issues peacefully and avoiding confrontations, she said. Cambodia hoped that the meeting would enhance full and effective implementation of the ceasefire agreement, helping restore peace, stability and normalcy in border areas, she added. On Thursday, an ASEAN Interim Observer Team (IOT) visited Cambodia-Thailand border areas. Led by Malaysian military attache to Cambodia, the IOT, comprised of military attaches from Brunei, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines, and Vietnam, visited villages in Banteay Meanchey province, where Thai armed forces set up barbed wire and placed tyres, as well as some border checkpoints, according to Cambodian Defence Ministry's Undersecretary of State and Spokesperson Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata. "Once again, Cambodia calls on Thailand to uphold the spirit of the ceasefire in order to achieve a peaceful resolution to the issue in accordance with the principle of international law, ensuring a just, impartial and fair outcome that will bring peace and prosperity to both nations and peoples," Socheata said in a press briefing. Armed clashes between Thai and Cambodian forces errupted on July 24 along their border. The two ASEAN member states agreed to a ceasefire on the afternoon of July 28, which took effect at midnight on the same day.

Catholic priest's presence at RSS event in Pala raises eyebrows
At a time when the Catholic Church in Kerala has been voicing concern over attacks on Christians in central and northern States of India, the participation of a priest from the Pala diocese of the Syro-Malabar Church at an event of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has raised a few eyebrows. Father George Nellikunnu Cherivu Purayidom, director of Care Homes project under the Pala diocese and Deepika Friends Club, presided over Shankholi 2025, a student summit jointly organised by the Poonjar, Meenachil and Ramapuram units of the RSS on August 15. Addressing the gathering, Father Purayidom said that it was the generation inspired by India's spiritual heritage and the freedom struggle that went on to shape modern India. Today's younger generation must strive to project the nation's glory on the world stage, making effective use of organisation and technology. The keynote address at the summit was delivered by Desheeya Adhyapaka Parishat State vice-president Jigi Mash. However, the event has already raised a few eyebrows within the Catholic Church, especially in the wake of recent attacks on nuns and priests from Kerala in Chhattisgarh and Odisha, allegedly by Sangh Parivar activists. 'This only reflects how sections of the Catholic clergy remain insensitive to the sufferings of their fellow believers in BJP-ruled states,' observed another priest, reacting to the priest's presence. The instance has also triggered debates on social media and within the Catholic community. When contacted, Fr. Purayidom clarified that he had attended the event with the knowledge of Pala Bishop Joseph Kallarangatt. 'I decided to attend since the programme was related to Independence Day. I went there on the organisers' invitation and delivered a speech on the theme of the event. There is no need to misconstrue this in any other way,' he explained. Commenting on the issue, Fr. Jhoseph Thadathil, Vicar General of the diocese, maintained that the priest must have attended the event in his personal capacity. 'The diocese, as a matter of principle, does not interfere in the affairs of any political organisation, nor does it extend support to any. The diocese has nothing to do with the event, even if the said priest attended it,' he clarified.
