
Fast food restaurant manager fined RM3,500 for molesting teen during interview
BATU PAHAT: The magistrate's court here today fined a fast food restaurant manager RM3,500 for molesting a teenage girl during a job interview last Friday.
Accused Mohd Sallehudin Roslie, 32, pleaded guilty after the charge was read out to him.
Magistrate Arun Noval Dass ordered the father of two to serve seven months in jail if he failed to pay the fine. Sallehudin settled the RM3,500 fine.
According to the charge sheet, Sallehudin was accused of using criminal force to outrage the modesty of a 19-year-old at a fast food restaurant in the district between 8.30pm and 9.30pm on May 16.
He was charged under Section 354 of the Penal Code, which carries up to 10 years in jail, a fine, whipping or any two of the punishments.
According to facts of the case, the victim visited the premises to seek employment and was invited inside by the accused for an interview.
After the interview, the accused instructed the victim not to tell anyone about the incident.
The incident was captured on the restaurant's closed-circuit television camera.
Deputy public prosecutors Farah Wahidah Mohd Sharif and Firdaus Ruslan led the prosecution, while the accused was represented by Normaahani Rais from the National Legal Aid Foundation.

Singaporean man arrested in Johor for alleged involvement in road rage incident
JOHOR BARU: The Malaysian police have arrested a Singaporean man after he was allegedly involved in a road rage incident in Johor on June 7. The 40-year-old man was arrested at 6.20pm on June 8 by a team of officers from the Criminal Investigation Division of the Johor Baru North police headquarters. The police also seized several items, said Johor Baru North police chief Balveer Singh Mahindar Singh in a June 8 statement. Balveer said a 31-year-old Malaysian man had lodged a police report over the June 7 incident, claiming that on that day, he was honkedAT by a Singapore-registered Toyota Altis car. He said the Singaporean was dissatisfied that the man's BMW had allegedly blocked his path in the Taman Tun Aminah area. 'An argument took place and the suspect allegedly kicked the complainant's car, causing damage. However, the complainant did not suffer any injuries,' he said. Five Indonesians held for murder
KLUANG: Police have arrested five men in connection with the death of an Indonesian man at an oil palm plantation here. Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said the suspects, aged between 21 and 31, were arrested at 1am yesterday. 'At 9.36am on Saturday, we were alerted about a man in his 30s who had died at Enche' Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital after being stabbed in the left side of his chest. 'Further investigation led to the arrest of the five suspects, who are all Indonesian men,' he said in a statement yesterday. The suspects, who have no criminal records, have been remanded for seven days. 'We are still investigating the cause of the fight that led to the man's death,' ACP Bahrin said. He urged those with information about the case to come forward and assist the police investigation. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. In an unrelated case, ACP Bahrin said the police arrested a drug-positive personal driver after he had been involved in an accident. The 40-year-old man was arrested at 6.30am on Friday after testing positive for methamphetamine. 'The suspect was driving towards Kluang town from Taman Sri Kluang and suddenly veered into the opposite lane. 'He collided head-on with another car in that lane,' he said. The suspect was uninjured while a 36-year-old businessman in the other car suffered injuries to his hands and had some abdominal pain. After the incident, the suspect was taken to the Kluang police headquarters' Narcotics Crime Investigation Division for a urine test. The suspect also has a criminal record.
