Fast food restaurant manager fined RM3,500 for molesting teen during interview
BATU PAHAT: The magistrate's court here today fined a fast food restaurant manager RM3,500 for molesting a teenage girl during a job interview last Friday.
Accused Mohd Sallehudin Roslie, 32, pleaded guilty after the charge was read out to him.
Magistrate Arun Noval Dass ordered the father of two to serve seven months in jail if he failed to pay the fine. Sallehudin settled the RM3,500 fine.
According to the charge sheet, Sallehudin was accused of using criminal force to outrage the modesty of a 19-year-old at a fast food restaurant in the district between 8.30pm and 9.30pm on May 16.
He was charged under Section 354 of the Penal Code, which carries up to 10 years in jail, a fine, whipping or any two of the punishments.
According to facts of the case, the victim visited the premises to seek employment and was invited inside by the accused for an interview.
After the interview, the accused instructed the victim not to tell anyone about the incident.
The incident was captured on the restaurant's closed-circuit television camera.
Deputy public prosecutors Farah Wahidah Mohd Sharif and Firdaus Ruslan led the prosecution, while the accused was represented by Normaahani Rais from the National Legal Aid Foundation.
